  1. Do you two have a song that is special to you both? Maybe something you used to sing when you were little? A friend danced with her dad to "Rainbow Connection" by Kermit the Frog because it was something that she always sang to him and they used to watch the Muppets together. John Mayer's "Daughters" is kinda different.
  2. Very cute! I loved that my guests all had matching tags while we were waiting together at the airport. They all still use them!
  3. I love the detail in the back. It will be perfect for a beach wedding!
  4. Great post Alyssa, especially in time for the holidays, when it is very hard for those serving us to be away from home. I have used this organization in the past: AnySoldier.com It has the names of service men and women, great info on what to send, list of allowable items, etc. They also have links to all organizations and companies that will match your donation. I agree, that no matter what you stance on the war, those that are fighting deserve our respect and support.
  5. Does she have a particular dress in mind? If she is set on long, I would really try and get her to go for another color. As far as the ugly feet thing...No matter how long the dress is, you'll still see feet! And she will be wearing shoes. I'd say that is a really poor argument. I agree that it is her choice, but I think you need to gently try to voice your concerns. She doesn't want to start off planning with angry bridesmaids.
  6. I went last night to a US store. All sales are final, no coupons are accepted, and no gift cards are being sold. They are still accepting gift cards. The whole store is an additional 10-40% off and it was a freakin' mad house! The curtains were nearly gone! I think later on down the raod you'll be able to find some great bargains, but you'll have to dig. Things are already starting to get picked over.
  7. Welcome to the forum! I'm sure other Vegas brides would love to hear how your plans are coming! (The rest of us would too!)
  8. I need to get on that! I didn't read the instructions, so do we PM the entry and the picture directly to you, then you send us the link where we can see it?
  9. That is a beautiful dress! Very tastefully and subtly sexy - very flattering on your figure. I'm guessing your FI will flip out when he sees you coming down the aisle!
  10. I know exactly how you feel. Dress shopping wasn't a fantastic experience for me either because of my size. I'm petite and a street size 10/12. I have a huge chest, and in one desinger, I had to try a 20 to get it to zip. There were a few dresses I really like that I didn't try on because the sample was too small or too large. You just need to go and try anything and everything! LOL I agree to take a friend or two to make it fun. You don't want to wait too long simply because you are uncomfortable. You need to give yourself time to get your dress ordered and altered. You don't want to be scrambling at the end and end up setteling on something that isn't exactly what you want.
  11. That is special. Please tell me that it was teh end of the day and that her straps broke and she was too drunk to care. My parents and my groom would have smacked me if I even considered that!
  12. I had a good photographer for a reasonable price. However, looking back we somehow managed to not get any photos of the two of us alone together on our actual wedding day. In my experience, it will be well worth it for you to go ahead and do this if it something you really want. I made a few compromises and occasionally find myself thinking that maybe I shouldn't have.
  13. I say for sure get the drop in bobbin. I have a brother and have had no problems with it. I also have my grandmother's singer from the 1940's and it is still kickin' so I think they are both quality brands. #1 does sound like a good machine that can handle heavier fabrics. I agree that you will probably never use most of the fancy and quilting stitches. I totally agree with Abbie to get a "professional" opinion on each machine. You might see if JoAnn or some other place offers sewing classes near you. I know that several fabric stores and the adult education programs around here offer them. They are usually only a few hundred dollars for a fairly extensive course. Tell Matt you want the $300 machine and classes. It will work out well and save money in the long run! LOL
  14. Great job, Tami! I might have to con/bribe you into doing mine! LOL Are you including AHR photos? (the first page didn't load completely and I was crying through what I saw...)
  15. Bienveniue! BDW is a wonderful resource for resorts and travel agents. Good luck and happy planning!
  16. I know several of my guests commented on using them. I found them on sale at a local store, probably Target or Value City. I want to say it was $3.99 for a box of 12. I put 2 in each bag because they are packaged as twins.
  17. Here is what I found for ettiquette: If the Bride's parents are divorced: either Issued by the parent who raised her Ms. Janet Myers requests the honor of your presence at the wedding of her daughter Anne Catherine etc. or Divorced parents are hosting the wedding together Mr. Christopher Myers and Ms. Janet Myers request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter Anne Catherine Divorced parent and new stepparent are hosting the wedding: Mr. and Mrs. Marc Velez request the honor of your presence at the marriage of Mrs. Velez's daughter Anne Catherine Myers etc. Child of divorced and remarried parents both hosting the wedding Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Myers and Mr. and Mrs. Marc Velez request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter Anne Catherine etc. OR Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Myers and Mr. and Mrs. Marc Velez request the honor of your presence at the marriage of the daughter of Mr. Myers and Mrs. Velez Anne Catherine to etc. I personally like "together with their parents". I think it is less formal and better suited to a beach wedding.
  18. Erica, you look stunning! I can't wait to see Juan's pictures!
  19. OMG! Leia I can't believe your big day is here! You were one of the first to welcome me to BDW and have been so helpful to all of us along the way! Your wedding will be amazing and I know you will be a beautiful bride! I can't wait to see pics and hear details when you are a MRS!
  20. What a romantic picture! I can't wait to see more! Congrats!
