  1. I just wonder about the person that thought the whole idea up?!? My grandpa was a drill sargeant and used to have his troops wear kotex in their boots to protect their feet and keep them dry, but this takes it to a whole new level!
  2. Fun! I'll get to work tonight. It's going to be tough since DH refuses to take pictures. Maybe I can photoshop a santa hat onto him in a wedding pic, lol
  3. My dear friends, It's somewhat embarrassing to admit, but Christmas is tight this year. I will be making bedroom slippers for everyone as gifts. Please let me know your sizes. You'll most likely agree that it's a splendid idea, and should you wish to do the same, I've included the instructions below. How to make bedroom slippers out of maxi pads: You need four maxi pads to make a pair. Two of them get laid out flat, for the foot part. The other two wrap around the toe area to form the top . Tape or glue each side of the top pieces to the bottom of the foot part. Decorate the tops with whatever you desire, silk flowers (this is most aesthetically appealing), etc. These slippers are: * Easily personalized * Soft and Hygienic * Non-slip grip strips on the soles * Built in deodorant feature keeps feet smelling fresh * No more bending over to mop up spills * Disposable * Environmentally safe * Three convenient sizes: (1.) Regular, (2.) Light and (3.) Get out the Sand Bags. I've attached a photo of the first pair I made so that you can see the nifty slippers for yourself....
  4. While a lot of the OOT bags have things in them that people should bring, they don't necessarily. Like MarieSam mentioned, they are little care packages, anticipating guest needs. No everyone thinks to bring a first aid kit, or they lose thier lip balm, a travel candle, underwater camera, etc. Several of my guests forgot their beach bags and were thrilled to get one. Let me tell you that at an AI (with a free bar), there is never enough Excedrin! LOL They are also a good way to distribute information. This is where we included our wedding day timeline sheet, postcards, and a sheet that had everyone's room number to make communication easier. I had wanted to do all Jamaican items, but found it was going to be very cost prohibitive. I would have had to go shopping for all of my items there in Jamaica, negotiated a price, hauled them back to the hotel, etc. In trying to find things here #1 it was difficult and #2 I would still be purchasing from a US seller and my reasoning for doing an all Jamaican gift basket was to contribute to the Jamaican eceonomy, KWIM? I did contact my florist to make my OOT bags for me and they were going to be about $65 each once I got everything in it that I wanted. They do have some smaller packages if you want to go this route. Floral Fantasy; Flowers for All Occasions from Negril, Jamaica / Gift Baskets I guess to answer your question, my guests used the postcards, first aid kit with hangover meds, lip balm, and underwater cameras.
  5. I'm with Katrina. I didn't see much difference. I used Sandalwood fans. I thought these were pretty, needed little extra adornment and were super easy to pack because they fold flat. Japanese Kimono, Chinese Paper Lanterns, Chopsticks, Chinese Dresses They also have colored paper fans in various colors.
  6. Standard Sized Cupcake Boxes and Cupcake Holders I got mine through Big River Packaging. I don't think they had the individual cupcake box when I got mine. I thought they were really reasonably priced and the shipping was so fast. I think they went out the same day i placed my order.
  7. Davids will probably be your best bet. IF they don't have a size you need in their store, you can have it shipped in from another one. Be sure you have your MOH's measurements to know what size to order. Bridal wear doesn't run the same size as street clothes! If you have a friend that is MOH's size, I would take her to see what the dress looks like and then you can e-mail pics so she can say yes or no. Honestly at this point you might just need to pick what you like.
  8. I confess that sometimes, the sound of my own voice makes me sick. I'm on the phone a lot and I hope I don't sound as irritating to others as I do to myself! I hate being so damn perky all the time! I hate getting stuck on the phone with clients asking asinine and/or irrelevent questions. I hate pretending they are not being royal PITAs and that no, I don't mind to change all of the plans we have already made or that it's ok you forgot to order food for your meeting in an hour! I guess that was more of a vent, LOL
  9. I've become newly obsessed with the series. I read the first 3 books in 3 days. I left the 4th with the IL's and had to wait for it to get back to me. I started reading at 11 last night and was up until 4 before I forced myself to sleep. I want to know the ending! I agree that the books are great pieces of literature, but are very entertaining. Her voice is almost conversational so it's easy to get wrapped up, KWIM? I haven't seen the movie yet. I'm debating if I should go or wait for DVD. A friend said if she hadn't read the book to know what was going on, she wouldn't have like the movie as much. I also don't know anything about the actors and again haven't seen the movie, but I wouldn't have chosen those 2 necessarily as leads. I pictured Bella as Alexis Bledel (from Gilmore Girls) but I guess her eyes are too blue. From what I've seen Edward doesn't look super hot like he's supposed to be. PS - I need to buy another copy of book 1 so they all match. I have the cheap-o movie paperback from the airport because I didn't know if I would like them.
  10. Happy Birthday Michelle! It sounds like you have a great date night planned! Your DH needs to call my DH and tell him how it's done, LOL

LOL I haven't seen the movie yet, but I read the first 3 books in 3 days. I left the 4th at the IL's house and had to wait for DH to bring it back when he came home. I almost went out and bought another copy. I'm sad because I have to work almost non-stop for the rest of the month so I'll only get to read a few chapters a night. I have a tendancy to stay up until I finish reading a book, so I don't read as often as I like. Must...go...to...sleep! LOL Do you know if she is working on another book?

  13. You could line the aisle with palm fronds and starfish if you want. The resort didn't' get my complete vision, but it was close. Inspiration: Actual: They only put the palms at the end of the aisle. Oops! I think as long as you use the larger starfish you'll be fine. Another idea I like are streamer sticks: I did these for my AHR but couldn't find pictures. My florist used different shades of blue ribbon and but them on 28" bamboo sticks. You could easily do this and add starfish!
  14. That is a gorgeous dress! You are going to be one sexy bride! FI is going to love it!
  15. Great review. I'm sorry you had issues but you really did take the high road and focus on what was the most important - GETTING MARRIED! Did you post pics somewhere that I missed? Keep us posted on the DJ situation. I would contact your credit card company and see if you can refute the charges for failure to perform/no delivery of goods. Did you have a contract with him?
  16. I did OOT bags and put the week's activities and the wedding day time line in them. I don't think you need a formal invite unless you just want to do one or are having a formal meal where you need to know entree selection, etc.
  17. I would probably order the dress and see how you feel about it when it comes in. For that price you can easily re-sell or use as a TTD if you aren't 100% sure of it. Having the dress in hand will make it easier to select a BM dress. YOu can also see if there is any way to alter the waist/change the color ribbon. By getting such a great deal, you can afford to splurge on alterations. If that really is a rose color, I think you will need to select a more muted hue than pool/aruba. I used "tropic" for my rehearsal dress and it is really bright and really blue! Good luck!
  18. That happens to me but only from my work computer. I have no idea why! It's not an everyday thing and the threads that are banned are totally random. Most of the time I can read anything but not respond (which sucks after you have typed out a paragraph). We haven't figured it out yet! It's some weird internet thing.
  19. Super HOT! You look great! I'm glad you had so much fun with your shoot!
  20. Happy Birthday! I hope it is a great one! Are you and FI going to do something special over the weekend?
  21. GROSS! I cannot stand either of them! And she is not cute!
