  1. Most of the crime and political strife is centered in Kingston, on the other side of the island where you will get married (Negril, MoBay, or OR) I had a group of 30 guests and no one had any problems with anything being stolen from the resort. I would tell people to use common sense. If you don't participate in activites that will invite crime, then you will be fine. I wouldn't walk down a dark alley at 3 am in NYC or even in my hometown. I wouldn't hop in the back of some guy's car just because he said it was a cab. I think you will also find that the resorts are very secure and there really isn't a need to go off property.
  2. Welcome Aurelia! I was married at CSA this past June. It was wonderful! Please let me know if there is any way I can help. Congrats!
  3. You look beautiful! I can't wait to hear all about it and see more pictures! Have a fantastic time on your honeymoon!
  4. Some brides just take the menu cards down for table decor and to continue the theme. That is all info you should have from your WC. The only reason you would need to send a menu card out with invites is if you are having a served meal and your guests have to select an entree (beef, chicken, vegetarian) JustUsTwo had great advice about having a back-up plan! I really regret not having one. It may also help to give your WC a list of written instructions when you give her all of your stuff.
  5. Erica! I LOVE your pictures! You looked beautiful and everyone looked like they had a ball! Your TTD pics came out great too. You can tell you and L had a good time.
  6. OMG! I can't believe your planning thread is up! That makes it real! I'm so happy for you. The trip is going to be amazing!
  7. I was wondering who the winner was! Those pics make me feel naughty...in the good way.
  8. Welcome back Kelly! Those are some great teaser pics - I can't wait to see more!
  9. One big thing to consider... If she really is mean and vindictive, she could tell everyone about your "secret/private" ceremony and stir up a bunch of trouble that no one needs. Be the bigger person and have her there. Do the whole kill her with kindness thing. When you are nice and sweet and she acts like a b-word, then everyone else will see that and she will look bad, not you. Don't give her the chance or satisfaction of spinning this in her favor.
  10. I agree with Katrina. Your guests don't have to be there the entire time you are. Get a package/schedule together so those dates are concrete and everyone knows about it. For example: You two will be there from Monday to Wednesday. Have your guests come Wednesday to Sunday so you have time to visit, get married, and then send them on their way! Try and get a few private "couple" things scheduled as well. We had 2 days after our wedding before we all left. Everyone was very understanding that we were Newlyweds and left us alone. If we ran into someone it was great, otherwise we just did our own thing.

    Woo hoo!!!

Welcome! The forum is an amazing resource! I don't know what I would have done without it!
  12. I would not advise doing this. It is poor etiquette to only invite some children and not others. Were you going to print up two sets of invites, one that says "adult reception" and another that doesn't specify. In the long run it could cause some strain to your relationships with friends and family. Think of how you would feel if you were told not to bring your daughter somewhere, but when you got there, other kids were running around. As far as driving numbers up, most kids don't really count as people, KWIM? One child will not eat and drink like an adult will. If you are having a hall/caterer they should base your rates on the number of kids & adults. So you want food for 125 adults and 30 kids. If you will have a lot of kids, you might want to consider a Kid's food and activity table. Have PB&J sandwiches, fruits, goldfish crackers, etc. Have some small beachy toys, some coloring books etc. You might also want to hire a babysitter to oversee these activities.
  13. I love it all! Everything is so elegant! I can't wait to see pictures of how it all comes together. I know it will be beautiful!
  14. Jamaica is wonderful! Of course, I am a little biased. Now that you have chosen a location, everything else will fall into place. Good luck and happy planning!

I don't want him to die in some kind of tragic accident or something. OK, the Denny thing is getting wierd, wierder than normal. After last night, I don't what will happen. Is he going to start stalking Alex? That scene with McArmy was so touching! I wanted to just hug him.
  16. Everything looks great! I can't wait to see wedding pics because I looked at that dress! It is beautiful! I love that you posted your budget. I didn't keep good track of everything like I should have and ended up over spending!
  17. WOW! That's pretty steep. Were you planning to hire someone in JA or bring a photog with you. I got married at CSA under the old policy, but my understand was that as long as that person was a guest of the resort for 3 days or more you wouldn't have to pay any extra.
  18. OMG! That would be an awesome girl's trip! Kate, Abbie, Jenny, Christa! Wanna go? LOL
  19. I love SP. I'm trying to get back in the habit of using the food diary and fitness tracker. It really helped before the wedding and now I need to get my "happy fat" off!
  20. I would use a DW TA from the forum. There are several that specialize in different areas/resorts. Usually TA has more knowledge about particular areas and hopefully, some personal experience with the location/property. If you decide to book as a group, you can get better pricing/group rates. I would say the biggest benefit is that she takes a lot of the burden off of you when communicating with your guests. This is especially nice if your guests will be coming from different parts of the country/world.
  21. They do a french pedicure. You nails do need to be a little bit long for them to look right. The first few days are awesome! I would recommend that if you are doing it for your wedding, to have your toes done there or go with a polish. The sand kind of buffs away the polish or it can chip. At least mine did. You can get acrylic toenails. My nail person said that they really hurt though. And most people would come back to have them taken off after a few days.
  22. A Mod will have to change the title. Send one a PM with a link to the thread and what you want the new title to be.
  23. Great to see you again Erica! I'm so happy you had such a good trip! I want to see more pictures!
