  1. Welcome to the forum! All of the mods have a link in their signatures (stuff at the bottom of the post) that directs you to frequently asked questions and tips for navigating the forum. I'm sure as you browse around you will become more comfortable. There is a TON of information on the Riu Ochos Rios (ROR). You can probably find answers to all of your questions. You might want to start by browsing/searching the Jamaica and Wedding Reviews sub-forums.

Erin- that's so funny! Because to play that game you have to have a high end computer and/or graphics card so I bet he is pissed! I can totally relate because my ex played long before I ever started to and I would get so angry that I couldn't get him off the damn computer. Then I started playing... yay, nothing got done in our house. Yeah, his other computer probably had $6K-$7K put into it. He calls BDW World of BrideCraft! LOL
  3. My DH used to play WOW, nonstop! At times it was a big issue in our realtionship. We're talking sreaming matches and tears. Not good. Well, his computer died and I won't let him spend $5000 on a new Alienware, Voodoo, or whatever the thing was called, so he isn't playing. Yeah, I used to bitch because he wasn't around enough but now he's around too much! I really have to have my own personal down time and quiet everyday and now we're together all the time! LOL He's making me a little crazy! Tracey - if you need a test subject, let me know! LOL
  4. Shelly!!! I'm so excited for you! Your wedding is going to be perfect and SO beautiful! I can't wait to see pics of the real thing. I think I might have to steal the card idea for our first anniversary!
  5. My photog is based out of Cincinatti but she actually lives closer to Dayton. I know she is looking into doing BD photos so you could probably get a really good deal as she is expanding her portfolio. I will have her do mine once I lose some excess lbs. Maybe you could organize an OH marathon?
  6. Oh no Jacilynda! Do give us an update when you can. I think I had a weight loss miracle, or my scale is completely broken! I lost 5.6 pounds this week! I honestly think I was so bloated and puffy from too much salt and alcohol that when I started eating right and not drinking, I just lost a bunch of water weight. I'm not expecting to see such big losses in the future. I hope everyone else posts big numbers! And if not don't fret! Honestly, slow and steady will win the race! It's much better for us all to have consistent losses so we can keep the pounds off!
  7. Mrs - I second the nomination for Ann. BL6 has a ton of participants this cycle so I'm sure it's a lot of work! B2B - YoAzul (Yael) She is a faithful shouter and always post oics of her wedding stuff! And you know how much I like pictures...
  8. You look beautiful! Your FI will love them! Be sure to get a pic of his reaction when he opens the book!
  9. Have you found a TA to help you look? I agree that choosing a resort is the most difficult part of the process! Here is a link to the por-con sheet I made. I find that making a list always helps. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t34495 You can look into the Superclubs SuperClubs Super-Inclusive Resorts, the Almond, and the Allegro chains. I believe they all offer properties for guests 16 and older. That way all of your invitees can stay in one place but you don't have to worry about screaming toddlers, LOL Island Outpost Properties Island Outpost - Exclusive Boutique Hotels in Jamaica & the Bahamas operates several boutique hotels in Jamaica and the Bahamas. You'll have to see what the ages are for each resort. The Sunset properties Sunset at the Palms are also family friendly and not "tower" hotels. The Rockhouse Rockhouse Hotel/Restaurant in Negril Jamaica is open to guests 12 and older. Good luck with your search
  10. Those are too cute! And very reasonably priced. I will keep her in mind for gifts for sure!
  11. My weekend was terrible! The in-laws were in town and it was alcohol, ice cream, and cook-out food galore! Here's to a good start Monday!
  12. Awesome! Thanks for sharing. Even if your local store doesn't carry those plants you can order them from seed catalogs.
  13. I got mine on sale from VS. I think they were $20. The details are in my planning thread.
  14. Kelly, my husband did the same thing! He didn't want to do any research and we only did 1 or 2 days of open house browsing. We probably made appointments and saw 10-15 others and they all were not right. I could see potential in some, but we didn't have a big budget to do major overhauls. His main concern was just that we had a big yard. He said it was for the dogs but I think he just wants a riding mower. He likes new construction whereas I prefer older homes so that was a constant fight. We lucked out and got a great deal on a house he actually lived in in college. We've both always really liked the house and the seller was working in our favor since she knew him. Boys are Stupid.
  15. I had some last minute guests come too. I think I needed like 19 OOT Bags and most of what I had purchased was for 20 or 24. I just threw what I had left into a bag. I did pick up some small items at Target while I was there, but didn't make any special trips.
  16. Katrina, your trip so so amazing!!! That is what I can't seem to get DH to understand - we can go other places. I have a friend doing an internship in Munich in Spetember and she will still have her apartment for Oktoberfest and she has invited us. DH doesn't want to go! Weould it be bad for me to go alone and make it a girls' week? Kelly, good luck on the house search. It is really frustrating. I'm kind of amazed that DH and I made it through the process. We had completely different ideas of waht would make the perfect house and we both came to the realization that for our budget, we were both going to have to compromise.
  17. I had no problems bringing in anything for the wedding. I think the Customs Agents are pretty used to seeing wedding stuff and since it is for personal use and you will be taking it back with you, it really isn't an issue. I don't know if your FI being a citizen will affect anything. I would check out the official Customs page: Jamaica Customs Department This page also has entry/exit info: Jamaica : Planning a Trip : Entry Requirements & Customs | Frommers.com
  18. Here is one that I wish I had found before our wedding. It would have been perfect for us since we are both dog lovers. Quote: Falling in love is like owning a dog an epithalamion by Taylor Mali Taylor Mali First of all, it's a big responsibility, especially in a city like New York. So think long and hard before deciding on love. On the other hand, love gives you a sense of security: when you're walking down the street late at night and you have a leash on love ain't no one going to mess with you. Because crooks and muggers think love is unpredictable. Who knows what love could do in its own defense? On cold winter nights, love is warm. It lies between you and lives and breathes and makes funny noises. Love wakes you up all hours of the night with its needs. It needs to be fed so it will grow and stay healthy. Love doesn't like being left alone for long. But come home and love is always happy to see you. It may break a few things accidentally in its passion for life, but you can never be mad at love for long. Is love good all the time? No! No! Love can be bad. Bad, love, bad! Very bad love. Love makes messes. Love leaves you little surprises here and there. Love needs lots of cleaning up after. Sometimes you just want to get love fixed. Sometimes you want to roll up a piece of newspaper and swat love on the nose, not so much to cause pain, just to let love know Don't you ever do that again! Sometimes love just wants to go for a nice long walk. Because love loves exercise. It runs you around the block and leaves you panting. It pulls you in several different directions at once, or winds around and around you until you're all wound up and can't move. But love makes you meet people wherever you go. People who have nothing in common but love stop and talk to each other on the street. Throw things away and love will bring them back, again, and again, and again. But most of all, love needs love, lots of it. And in return, love loves you and never stops. This is what my mom read at our wedding. I got lots of compliments on it. Quote: May you find serenity and tranquility in a world You may not always understand. May the pain you have known and conflict you have experienced Give you the strength to walk through life Facing each new situation with courage and optimism. Always know that there are those whose love and understanding Will always be there, even when you feel most alone. May you discover enough goodness in others To believe in a world of peace. May a kind word, a reassuring touch, a warm smile be yours Every day of your life, And may you give these gifts as well as receive them. Remember the sunshine when the storm seems unending. Teach love to those who know hate, And let that love embrace you as you go into the world. May the teaching of those you admire become part of you, So that you may call upon them. Remember, those whose lives you have touched And who have touched yours are always a part of you, Even if the encounters were less than you would have wished. It is the content of the encounter that is more important than it's form. May you not become too concerned with material matters, But instead place immeasurable value on the goodness in your heart. Find time in each day to see the beauty and love in the world around you. Realize that each person has limitless abilities, But each of us is different in our own way. What you may feel you lack in one regard May be more than compensated for in another. What you feel you lack in the present May become one of your strengths in the future. May you see your future as one filled with promise and possibility. Learn to view everything as a worthwhile experience. May you find enough inner strength to determine your own worth by yourself, And not be dependent on another's judgement of your accomplishments. May you always feel loved. --- Copyright © 1987 Sandra Sturtz Hauss
  19. I really want another book now. I don't care if it's from Edward's POV, Bella's, Nessie's, whatever, LOL. I've re-read them all and need something else! I finally saw the moive and was not impressed. Way too much was left out. I really hope the second movie is better.
