  1. Yay! I finally did it! I made a decision! I went in to try on my top 3 and ended up picking one that was not a part of the bunch. My MOH looked over and saw a girl try it on in ivory and grabbed it when she was finished and that was THE ONE! Everyone cried! This makes it feel real. I know I've been working on lots of projects, I've paid deposits, I have a ring, but having the dress feels like now it will happen. It's much more ornate that what I thought I wanted but I really do love it. The only thing that worries me is that the designer doesn't offer rush shipping and the projected arrival date is May 29! We leave for Jamaica on June 16! I only have the catalog photo. I left my camera at MOH's house! I love that the rouching on the top matches the bridesmaid dress. Those will be a solid Tiffany Blue
  2. How thoughtful of you! I'm sure your guests will really appreciate them. Good work!
  3. I'm liking the second one very much! That was one of the dresses my FH loved but I just couldn't pull it off. You look fantastic!
  4. I drink 1% organic cow's milk in the morning with cereal. The flavor is much better than skim. I can drink soy or rice milk, but I prefer the flavors--chocolate and vanilla. They have so much sugar and higher calories, I can't justify it! Maybe after I lose more weight I can make the switch. I do think rice milk is lighter and more consistent with cow's milk than soy milk. Sometimes it tastes almost chalky. (or maybe I forgot to shake the carton before drinking...)
  5. Congratulations! All of your hard work is about to pay off! Sending you happy thoughts!
  6. Ashleigh, your wedding was BEAUTIFUL! Your BM dresses are the same color as mine! Possibly even the same dress. I'm glad to know I made a good choice! One of my favorite pictures was the one of you and the girls with the fans.
  7. I don't know about your baker there, but several of the bakers I work with will do a "dummy" layer. Basically a big piece of styrofoam that acts as the base layer and is decorated to match the rest of the cake. That way you get the look of a larger cake without wasting it.
  8. I'm dress shopping too this weekend! Let's hope all of the good vibes will help us find "the ONE"! I love both gowns. They feel very beachy! I know what you mean about showing the groom. I made FH go through some magazines and point out dresses he liked so I could try to incorporate some of the features he like. God bless that man! I don't know what he sees when he looks at me, but some of the dresses he picked out would never look good on my body, or probably anyone's body that wasn't 6'0" and 95lbs!
  9. Angela, great idea color coding the entree selections! I'm a compulsive color coder, I'm surprised I didn't think of that. Bre - I used the scrap book glue from Michaels. No problems with bleeding/bubbles but both of my pieces were cardstock. I also just glued the outside edges, making a perimeter, with nothing in the middle.
  10. Welcome and happy planning!

Welcome Natalie! Check out the Cabo threads or do an advanced search. Lots of the ladies on here are getting married in Mexico so I'm sure you'll find lots of helpful info.
  12. I used to not eat breakfast but have been better about it lately and I have noticed that it keeps me from pigging out during the day. I usually eat 1 of 3 menus for breakfast: 1. Cereal with Lowfat Milk and Fruit 2. Kashi Granola Bar or Fiber 1 Chocolate Granola Bar and Banana 3. Oatmeal I have a great baked oatmeal recipe made with apples and dried fruit. You can grab a square so it's like a muffin or heat it and serve with milk. PM me if you'd like it.
  13. OMG Stephanie! I'm so sorry. I don't know what I would do in a similar situation. I think you are right to investigate this man, including his arrest record and trial transcripts-both of which are public information. How did your mother "meet" this guy in the first place? Has she dated since your father passed? Do you think she is lonely or desparate, especially now that you are getting married? I would probably voice my concerns to mom, telling her first and foremost you love and care for her and want her to be safe and happy. Then you should ask her to respectfully wait until after your wedding to get married. Tell her she should have a special day to. If this guy can't/won't wait there is obviously something wrong. If marriage is supposed to be forever what difference will six months make? Hopefully she will buy herself some time and really think this through. I know that people can change but I'm with you...There are too many red flags!
  14. Such a thorough review Jennifer! It is kinda making me re-think Couples SA but we are committed now!
  15. I love this idea! I have had STD drama and haven't gotten them out yet, though the website has been up since October. I guess people forgot how to use the internet. Anyway, I'm hoping by getting the STDs out on MOnday I can get some more certain answers. If not, I may have to borrow your Q&A page as (yet another) gentle reminder.
  16. Claire, I think you are the most diplomatic person ever! You always seem to have the appropriate answer when one of us just wants to scream at someone. lol
  17. Welcome and happy planning! A good friend went to Costa Rica on her honeymoon and loved it. Both are beautiful so I don't think you can go wring either way!

Welcome to the forum! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t13912 Check out this thread for some recent Cancun reviews from Opice34.
  19. I'm not getting married in DR but did have a similar problem. Our original resort in Jamaica had to be changed. Luckily no one had made arrangements yet. We kept the same date so the flight info, etc. was the same. I just sent out an e-mail stating that we had changed the resort only, no explanation as to why, and told them basically that the new place would be even better and offered even more with their all-inclusive package. No one had a problem with it.
  20. Welcome and happy planning! The time will fly by!
  21. Welcome! Another Texas bride! There must be something in the water down there! lol
  22. LadyP, Have you tried SparkPeople.com? I just found it and am OBSESSED! It is the greatest thing ever. There is a daily food calculator to tell you what you ate for the day, and exercise calculator so you know how many calories burned, and a great Brides to Be forum. I am on there with my fat ticker! So far I've lost 3 pounds! Only 37 more to go!
  23. I'm not getting married at Riu, but in Jamaica. If you are looking for a DW dress, most of the designers have a line (Destiantions,Destiny, Sandals by Dessy, etc.) or look for informal gowns. I went with Mori Lee Voyage. You can also look for bridesmaids dresses that come in white.
  24. Hi! Check out Couples Resorts in Jamaica. Jamaica Resorts: Couples Resorts - All-Inclusive Resorts: Jamaican We are getting married in Negril in June. One of the other resorts offers horse-back riding in their all-inclusive package, I believe it is Ochos Rios or Sans Souci. SO far they have been wonderful to work with and there is a stateside coordinator as well as an onsite coordinator.
  25. Welcome to the boards! They've helped me tremendously!
