  2. Welcome to our "forum family"! I adore your Hurricane Dean photo!
  3. Welcome to the forum. I'm not getting married on Grand Bahama but have been there several times. It was very beautiful!

Welcome! I'm sure you will find tons of useful information. There is a great passport invitation template from Becks.
  5. I'm not worried. I think I chose a dress that is sort of a happy medium of what I wanted and what he wanted. His only request was that it be white, no other colors. Of course, this is the man who thinks that just because you have on a shirt and a pair of pants it equals an outfit. The best line ever was, "Honey, don't let me turn into the dad that the other kids laugh at." While he was wearing black socks, adidas sandals, and shorts.
  6. i have to have heels! My FH is over a foot taller than me, all 3 GM are over 6', 2 BM are 5'8. I am 5'3". I don't want to look like the little girl playing dress up on my wedding day. I have wedge flip flops aka "Stripper Flops" because they have a 4" heel. I'll wear normal heels at the reception when we aren't in sand. It was either heeled flops or a be-dazzled step ladder! These are only $20 through Victorias secret online.
  7. I've always heard it rains in the later afternoon between 1 and 3 or so. This is also usually the hottest time of the day do showers are brief and dry quickly. I'd try to keep your wedding time earlier in the morning or late afternoon/sunset if you really are upset about it. Don't worry the coordinators will have a rain plan they go over with you on the first day.
  8. You could of course play mexican/south american music. You could even hire a mariachi band to play for a while. For props I would definitely add some maracas, a sarapi, the sombrero, etc. You might want to set up a tequilla tasting, similar to a wine tasting. This could be expensive, depending on the number of guests. You might also have a little brochure or card that lists the brief history of tequilla and list the brands you have to taste. Each guest could get a shot glass or margarita glass as a favor. If the party will be at home or in the back yard, you can string chili pepper lights around. (cheesy but cute) If you want real mexican food, check into having your favorite local authentic restaurant cater. Here is the link to the FoodNetwork web site all about fiestas if you want to go for a more upscale feel: Cinco de Mayo Recipes, Margaritas, Fiesta Tips: Holidays : Party Ideas: Food Network Can you say YUM to Kaluha Flan!
  9. I think the photo booth is usually about $1500. That includes the set-up, tear-down, all props, unlimited pictures both color and B&W, and at least one person to stay with it and make sure nothing goes wrong, and 5 hour rental. This person is a friend of the family and a vendor with whom I work regularly so she's cutting me a deal. Sometimes it's great to be in the catering/event business!
  10. Yeah, my friends would have the donkeys doing all sorts of bad things... I'm thinking I might take a landscape photo of the beach and blow it up to poster size for my AHR guestbook. I'm also really leaning towards doing a photobooth at the AHR. THey are so much fun! Each guest gets 6 photos and then your name & date are printed at the bottom. I was going to have everyone take one strip for us and put those into a scrap book type thing. They could sign the page if they wanted to. This company is great! They bring a big dress up box with beachy things and all kinds of props. Curtain Call Photo Booth Home
  11. That veil is beautiful! How lucky that it matches your dress so well! I was just going to say the wind will probably be the determining factor in how you wear it.
  12. We're doing a thank you in the sand with us in our wedding clothes to make postcard thank yous. I'll do a large landscape, maybe with my bouquet in the corner that can be blown up to poster size. I'll use that as my guestbook possibly. We have a crystal brooch that any of our friends who get married wear pinned to her slip, so I definitely want a shot of that.
  13. Hey Morgan! I have months to go too! I don't think I'm freaking out too badly! Though I do have my moments. I mean 5 months and 4 minutes from right now I will be getting married! AHHHH! I think most of the wedding stuff itself is done. THe boys still need to buy their suits and I have one MOH who still needs to order her dress. I'm working on finalizing the on-site private reception this week. Next week's big focus will be the AHR.
  14. Welcome from one Jamaica Bride to another!
  15. welcome to the forum!
  16. My understanding ad what we've always done is to give the hostess a small gift. I will definitely be doing this for all of my showers. We're up to 4 right now! For 3 of them, the hostesses won't be in attendance at the actual wedding. It is the hostesses responsibility to purchase the guest favors. In Kansas, where my mom is from, she said the if any of the guests win prizes for the games, they turn around and "donate" them back to the bride.
  17. I think it's a great idea! I thought about giving each guest a romantic CD in their Welcome Bag. That might be a great way to get some ideas!
  18. Yep, lots of alterations. I'm only 5'3" so I will need a good portion cut off the bottom. I'm also losing a lot of weight right now, so it will probably have to come in in the waist. I got a lager size right now so it will fit if for some reason I don't lose weight and because I am a busty girl, no matter what I weigh, and I need to be sure the girls are covered!
  19. You can also check out Reviews of vacations, hotels, resorts, vacation and travel packages - TripAdvisor once you do select a resort or if you are trying to choose between a few. Keep in mind the reviews are subjective, but it's nice because it has a little side column that tells you about the reviewer. A 45 year old married couple will probably have a different set of standards than a 24 year old single girls group. You could also try to find a travel agent that specializes in DW. She will have more detailed info, an existing relationship with vendors, and possibly have done site visits. Lastly, I would try to google images of the resort and see if you can check out any non-professional pictures. Everything in the brochures always looks amazing!
  20. Welcome! I'm a Jamaica bride too! Where are you getting married?
  21. Welcome! We are hoping to make it to Australia one day! I'm thinking an anniversary trip...I can't wait to see your resort pictures!
  22. I would try calling the passport office and the state and check the progress. You don't want her paperwork sitting on someone's desk who is on vacation! Then be prepared to have the actual passport expedited. It will be worth the extra money to know for sure you get it!
