    I'm new!

Welcome! My FI is from Kansas City (Mission)! I'm actually heading there this weekend! You'll find all kinds of helpful info here! Rock-Chalk!
  2. Thanks for the template! I'll be mailing them out to my guests, hopefully by the end of the week! I have made the changes to reflect info for Negril, Jamaica and specifically Couples Swept Away. If anyone is interested, PM me and I will send a copy!
  3. Yeah, I learned the hard way that drinking and hair removal aren't a great combo... I had a little too much wine one night and REALLY under-estimated how tipsy I was. So, of course waxing my own eyebrows was a fabulous idea...Luckily they have grown back now!
  4. Heidi, I am so happy for you both! Good luck and have an amazing time! Be sure to get us pictures ASAP! You know how we get around here!
  5. I think I saw a similar one at JoAnne Fabrics. I thought it was really pretty. I am using an aqua to turquoise 2" ombre ribbon I got at Michael's. I'll post pictures when I get home tonight.
  6. My bridal boutique gave me a fabric swatch. Since I only had 1, I went to the fabric store and bought a spool of ribbon in the closest matching shade (aqua). I also got a spool of turquoise ribbon (our accent color). Then I made a little newsletter for my bridesmaids and close family & friends with a pice of each color. We have asked our guests to coordinate with our bridal party (if they want to) because we are taking group photos and I'd like everyone to match! I also tend to lose things so if I can't find the swatch in my bag, etc. I can just cut a new one!
  7. You aren't alone Sarah! I'm on super stong BC--it has actually put me into menopause and has shut down all natural estrogen production so intimacy is an issue for us. FYI - hot fashes aren't really sexy. Screaming get off me and running naked to stand in front of the fan or freezer door is pretty funny, though it does make it hard to pick up where you left off... I also find that stress effects my libido. With the wedding being so close and me heading into the busy season at work by the time I get home or finish working on wedding stuff I'm too tired to do it. I also have body image issues so I don't really feel sexy anymore. This is definitely something we need to work on. I'm sure once we get to Jamaica where we can relax and after I go off the BC things will be better. I guess that isn't a solution but at least you know you're not alone!
  8. Those are great! I chose an ocean color palette too! My colors are aqua and turquoise and I am obsessed! LOL

    Hello

    Welcome! BDW is a lifesaver!
  10. I don't have additional advice but I know how you feel! We got personalized t's for my bachelorette party. One company had a 2XL that would fit a 10-12! WTF? I'm usually a medium or large because I have a small frame and huge boobies!

    new bride!

    Welcome and happy planning!
  12. Welcome and happy planning!
  13. Welcome to the forum! Because DWs are non-traditional, you really don't have to have a traditional reception (AHR =at home reception) unless you want to. Ours will be fairly traditional--we'll wear our dresses/suits, have a cake and lots of food, drinks and dancing. Other girls are having themed back-yard BBQs!
  14. Can you post a picture so we can see what should be added?
  15. I completely understand. FYI Big & Tall lies--You can be big or tall but not both. We have a terrible time finding pants. He needs a 35 inseam but you can only have them custom made! 36 usually don't come in a waist size over 46! FI is almost 6'5" and currently 375, he'd like to be smaller for the wedding. We're looking at a 52- XL However, because he played football for so long, one arm is longer than the other! Not noticeably until he puts on a jacket and sticks his arms out. We'll get his suit at Men's Warehouse and they'll only have to lengthen one arm! LOL! His suit is tan and they didn't say it would be a problem...
  16. Thanks! I give puppy massages all the time! Harley is so spoiled he'll lay on one side for me to rub then flips over and lays waiting for the other side to get done!

    Hi

Welcome to the forum! There is SO much great info here! Once you choose a location, everything else will fall into place!
  19. If you do a solid, your photogo should be able to color them in. This would look great for B&W shots1 Then you could have any color you want!
  20. I haven't decided. I like the idea of donation, but I'm kind of a pack rat! I also still love to play dress up and I figure if I spend a grand on anything I should be able to use it more than once or twice! A friend saved her dress and had her daughter's christening gown made out of the skirt. I really like that idea. There is also a company that makes quilts out of you dress. I'll see if I can find the link! Custom Wedding Dress Quilts, Wedding Dress Quilt This was the first example through google search, but you get the idea!
  21. To find my veil I first tried one on at the bridal boutique so I knew what I was looking for-color, trim, embellishment, etc. The one I wanted at the store was $175 and I ended up getting mine for $60 at a bridal store. I would also check out e-bay or if you have a friend that was married recently, her veil could be your something borrowed! I really like my veil so I'm trying to decide if I'll sell it after the wedding or wear it around the house! LOL!
  22. Sure! We have a lo tof groom wearing khaki. search the threads for grooms attire and you'll see lots of great examples! Here's a good onw to start with http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t17191

    I'm a newbie!

Welcome! Your friend is lucky to have you as a helper! I've planned my whole wedding by myself and it sucks! LOL
  24. One other tip that I think is great... When you pack your dress to carry on they plane, turn it inside out. This will keep it clean if the bag is opened and searched. It will also help keep FI from sneaking a peek!
  25. That's what I did. When you fold the cardstock there is this tool called a bone something at Micahels that makes really crisp creases. It was great! Here's where my STD are and what they looked like: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t17229 Then I put them in a regular, business size Metallic envelope. Paperandmore.com has the best prices! I also included a travel letter/registration form from our TA that I didn't want in the STD folder.
