Help me pick earrings!
ErinB replied to Maura's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I like 1 & 3 best. I like they combine the bling and the pearls. With the hair flower, the veil, and the neckline I agree the less is more is the best approach. Your wedding is going to be so classy I think the more traditional looking earrings will go best. -
Reception Help - Open Bar Question?
ErinB replied to allaboutodd's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
I cannot speak for the Riu, but most places charge about $10 per person for open bar because they have to transport all of the stuff to your location instead of using the big public bars. Check too, because at my resort they do beer and wine for free but consider the open bar to have beer, wine, and spirits. -
Who else if 5 months away? What have you done already?
ErinB replied to rodent's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
We're just going to get married there. With our resort to use the wedding services for free we had to either get married for $200 or do a vow-renewal for $150. So it's not really a "free"wedding. I'm trying to get all of my stuff organized into the planning blogs. I still need to: Get AHR heeled shoes. Pray my dress gets here early. It's not supposed to be in until May 25th! Order the GM suits Make OOT CDs Finalize ceremony & ceremony music I really think that is it for the actual wedding. Our AHR is a month later and I still have some stuff to do for it but I'm not even focusing on that right now. -

Morgan, Can you believe that we are exactly 2 months away from being married ladies! -
Cocktail Themed Shower Cake
ErinB replied to Christi's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
These are the ones I've found so far. I like the idea of serving a cupcake in a decadent flavor in a souvenier Martini or Margarita glass. You could also serve a mousse with cookies and fresh berries or a sorbet or gratin in a cocktail flavor. Lime sorbet with a raspberry sauce or maybe pomegranate sorbet with a grand marinier sauce would be yummy! -
Where to find 26' Parasols
ErinB replied to theresasc's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Chinese Wedding Umbrellas This is a Chinese wedding parasol that is 42" and $8 Premium White Paper Parasols This is a white parasol that is 31" and $6.50 Medium Chinese Sun Parasols These are 26" and $6.25. I ordered form this company and had great luck. The products were exactly as described and shipping was reasonably priced and very quick. -
I agree with the all of the above. It is considered poor etiquette to print registry info on an invite. We are including an enclosure card to direct guests to our website for "additional information" and to view photos so it doesn't sound like a plea for gifts. If you don't have a website yet, there are tons of places where you can set them up for free. We did ours through eWedding.com and it was SUPER easy.

You have to take the personal out of this. It is a business transaction. You paid for a service and did not get the product you expected to pay for. Would you have trouble saying something if your dress had been the wrong one or if the pizza guy delivered the wrong pizza? As a business owner, I really appreciate constructive critisism. If you don't say something, it will fester and become a bigger problem. You don't want to think AGH! everytime you look at your wedding photos. And, things will happen like this posting. You aren't happy so you tell us, not the vendor. This kind of feedback will not only help you get what you want, but also help her in the future. She will know now to either edit the photos before posting them or to offer the effects as an option. You don't have to be mean about it, just simply tell her you love her work and loved the proofs, but the printed product was not what you expected. Would she need to reprint all of them or just some?

In Kentucky acupuncture isn't readily available. It can only be practiced by a licensed medical physican. I'm glad you had such good luck and so did the puppy. My MOH had a similar situation with her daschund. He became paralyzed after jumping off the couch. They ended up having to fly him to a specialist in Dallas for a $6000 back surgery!

Michelle, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is. Please let us know if there is anything we can do. Feel free to vent anytime you need to.

I hate to hear stories like this. Of course I'll keep her and her family in my thoughts.

I got this e-mail last week and nearly peed myself! Did you see the one with flying sharks or the angry badger? What a great way to start a Monday!

That was what prevented me from going the laminated route--I thought I'd have to fill out all the address info before I sent it to them, and there was no way I wanted to do all that work! Everyone elses are personalized, I just didn't want to post them online. That was just an extra I figured I'd have for last minute travelers and extras at the airport. For those, I'll fill in the names with a sharpie. I really wasn't too much work. I had everyone's address for the invitations, etc. so a simple Mail merge, changed font, and lable formatting did the trick!

Congrats Becks! That is so exciting! How soon until you can sign a contract and get moving?

Help me pick out Mike's wedding outfit
ErinB replied to rodent's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Great choices! You can always trust the ladies of BDW to help you out. I love the action shots! I don't know how you kept the camera still, I'd have been rolling on the floor. My Mike hates shopping! So far he has tried on a jacket but no pants for his wedding suit. Everything I buy him for vacation he simply looks at and goes, "Yeah, I'll wear it." Damn right he's going to wear it because I'm going to pack his suitcase! -
So here's how to make my luggage tags. They really were very simple and cost effective. Sometimes I love running my own business--I get to write off all of my office supplies! These were my supplies: http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...2/100_1032.jpg Laminating Machine - normally $100 but I got it on clearance at Staples for $48 and I had a coupon! Paper Cutter Ruler Luggage tags - The Office Depot brand are way better than the Staples brand. Both were $12.99 for 25 tags and straps Photos - 2 per page, 3x4 and .26 each page =.13 each photo I mail merged all of my guests info into a word lable document. I did a custom size of 2.3"x3.8". All photos were royalty free images from the internet. I just right clicked and saved to a flash drive for easy printing. I have no idea if they are from Jamaica or not! I figured a palm tree on an awesome beach would do the job just fine! ** I do recommend that the files be 50MB or higher so the pictures come out clearly. My Bikini Girl is a little fuzzy around the edges but you have to look really closely! You will have to crop the photos down to a 2.25"x3.75". There is an option of doing 2x3" photos at 4 per page, but I thought these might be too small. If I ever make luggage tags again, I'll try them and let you know! In total it was about $.75 per tag Here is the finished product! I was really pleased with them! http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...2/100_1028.jpg Our guests that are couples going on the 5/4 trip will get 1 tag each. Those going for the full week 8/7 will get 2 each, as will the singles. The bridal party members will get 3 each so they can label their carry-ons. That was probably unnecessary, but I was having a lot of fun with the laminator! I'm mailing them out to everyone with my psycho pre-travel letter. Here is the link to the template and contents. It's for Jamaica in general, Negril in particular, and Couples Swept Away specifically. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t19955

New Pashmina Order
ErinB replied to ErinB's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I am going with a different vendor from e-bay. I ordered 20 and they ended up being $4.5 each but that includes shipping. It was a little more than I wanted to pay, but they had the colors I wanted in stock (aqua and turquoise) and I should have them within a week. -

I know! I've been bitching at FI for 5 years that we needed renter's insurance. In going over all of the legal stuff for getting married, changing wills, life insurance, etc. I told him we really needed it. Our goal is to buy a house in August so he said no. i think I'm going to blame him for tempting the fates! I've kinda calmed down. One of our GMs and my BFF is currently living in an apartment and has all of his lawn stuff stored at my mom's house so he is going to let us use it until we can replace ours.
