  1. How exciting Erica! I was the opposite...I never got "the one" feeling. I waited so long that the day I ended up ordering I went in and told myself I had to get a dress that day no matter what! I was having a rough time and had probably tried on every dress in the store, when my MOH looked over and some other girl had my dress on! She took it from her when she was finished and there you go...It was the winner! I'm so glad you found your perfect dress. I'm sure you'll be absolutely beautiful in it!
  2. Have a great day Jackie! I didn't want a shower, yet have somehow managed to get roped into having 4 + a spa day! (I'm not fighting the spa day!) I won't lie, it was a tad awkward at the first one, but in the end we did have a great time. I was really thankful that all of FI's family was there to show support and I DID get some cool presents! Good Luck. May you get to skip the stupid games!
  3. I have a fake ring that I travel with. I also wear it if I'm going out to the bars or a work event, just to keep my reel ring safe. I turned it in last week to have it remounted into my wedding set and won't have it back until next week. THe fake bling really helps me not feel naked!
  4. I have a little dilemma. I REALLY want a bamboo arch, decorated like LC_Rachel's for my wedding. Well, the coordinator from the resort hasn't gotten back to me recently on this, so I went straight to the source, the florist the hotel uses. Here is the standard site: I sent these inspiration pics: Guess what the cost is...$800! So much for my free wedding! I really want the arch but I don't know how I can justify it! That is without the chair covers & sashes too! **If I have stolen your images, let me know so I can give you credit. My computer is full of wedding and ferret pics and I don't remember where they all came from!
  5. Our resort does more than one wedding a day, with space available for every hour. But, they have 4+ locations for weddings, multiple reception options, etc. So even though there is the possibility of having 6 weddings in a day they currently don't have that many. I look at it like weddings are their business. I have read every review I can find and not a single bride has complained about anything going wrong, details being forgotten, running late for their wedding, etc. Because this is a highly rated resort specializing in "romance" they have a pretty good system worked out. I think if you are comfortable and have good communication with your planner, everything will be fine. I was worried about this so I discussed it with my planner. THere is 1 vow renewal at 11 am, a wedding for the couple only at 1pm and a wedding at6 on the opposite side of the resort that day. My wedding is at 4. I'm also bringing my own photog/videographer and doing my own hair and make-up. I'm really not worried about it and still look at it like it's "My Special Day" because it will be!
  6. FI is McSteamy and I am McHottie! LOL
  7. Happy Birthday Martha! I hope it's a great one!
  8. Those are great! I know your guests will be excited to receive them. I stamped all of mine...that was time consuming! LOL Where did you get your palm tree stamp on the second page/tag?
  9. That's so cute! I think it's great that you guys can share your career with someone. FI is in banking and I own my own catering/event business so sometimes he just doesn't get where I'm coming from. I love that you can work and play together!
  10. OMG! Abbie those pics are great! I heart them! I love your hair too. I tried to get my hairdresser to do something similar to mine last time and that was so not what I got! LOL Doug is quite a handsome little devil!

    Hi Everyone!

Welcome! Congrats on your engagement! Have fun searching the forum!
  12. Will they fit to loop through? Does that even make sense? LOL Can you take the tag part and fit it through the handle part around the luggage strap?
  13. AWWW! You guys and all of your guests look so happy! I'm so glad you had a perfect day (or 14)
  14. Congrats Jen! It sounds like it was amazing! I can't wait to see pictures!
  15. Quote: The hand ceremony gets me everytime. I hope I'm not all snotty from the crying. Maybe I should make a recording of it I can listen to on my ipod to desensitize myself I've been reading that damn thing for a week and I still cry like a baby!
  16. Alyssa I'm so sorry. You have had a rough few months! Hospice is a wonderful organization. My grandmother was under hospice care for about 6 months. They offer free bereavement counseling for up to a year if you need to talk to someone. It's so hard to lose someone unexpectedly and especially at such a young age. My thoughts are with you and your family.
  17. Congrats on your engagement! Have fun searching the boards!

  20. I have an extra dress! I totally forgot about that. Mike and I talked about getting married several years ago but decided to wait. It was a good thing because we were both too young! I'll have to take pictures and see if anyone is interested. You should also look at some BM dresses that come in white if you want to save money on the dress.
  21. Quote: What's wrong with it? I think it's beautiful. I'd help, but I'm not sure what you don't like. I just wanted to make sure it made sense. SInce I copied & pasted, re-worded etc. so many things from so many places I didn't know if it worked all together. Quote: How does it work? Does the person doing the ceremony contact you some time before to find out what you want said? My date-buddy is working on her's so it makes me feel like I should be working on mine I asked the WC to please send me over their vows and explained our situation. Mike would probably have made us change reorts if we couldn't get a non-denominational ceremony. Some of the ND ceremonies I've seen are still very religious, they just don't say Jesus. The standard vows were VERY traditional "Dearly beloved we are gathered today before God and these witnesses" "Let that which God hath joined together", etc. He just wasn't feelin it. I just want to get this over to him early so if there is a problem we can try and come up with a solution.

But actually I think if we just did the restaurant it would be about $9520 w/o tax or tip. But we were also told we would have to hire a piano lady for the music. Not sure how much that would cost. This sounds like a workable option. How many guests are included at that price? Would it include cake or any kind of dessert? I don't know if you have seen the dummy cakes, but they are foam layers decorated to match your cake and only the top layer is cut-able. Guests are then served from sheet cakes/regular cakes. It usually saves about 50%. I like the idea of catering an event at the house, just beware of too many rentals. Tents with lighting can easily cost $5K and chivari chairs are usually about $10 each. (for 100 guests you are talking $1000! that's 10-20% of your budget!)
  23. Since FMIL is willing to do 5k and a rehersal, ask her what the bottom line number is. That way you have a realistic working budget. Then, all of us BDW girls can ship your our wedding stuff (you'll have the "borrowed" covered!) to help save ca$h!
  24. I don't know that you would need to do both a luncheon and a dinner, especially if you will have repeat guests. Does your wedding have to be in the AM? You could do a late night ceremony followed by great desserts and cocktails.
  25. You'll find tons of helpful info here! You might want to find a TA who specializes in weddings (several on the forum) to help you if you are going to book everyone together as a group.
