  1. my MIL had a junior suite with 2 doubles and a pull out couch However there arent many like that and they wont garantee that you get the pull out till you get there....
  2. I took pics with me the spa/salon there is very knowlegable. They have awesome deep tissue and hot rock massages and they did a great job on my hair too You should book ahead. you need to go the the renova spa website- or email them to book you needs you will have to pay 1/2 thru paypal, and they will send you a certificate, which you need to bring to the spa. The email I used to book is below [email protected]
  3. I have loads on flickr.com go to my account colleen.crummy and then wedding set, also facebook has a few on the group riu weddings! I also posted someof mine on canadianbride.com So there are TONS of us Riu O"R brides with pics out there for you to look at and help you get ecxited!!!
  4. Whoo Hoo Congrats on the countdown starting You are sure to have a GREAT time at ROR i had blue on my dress, and i was at the last minuite realizing i din=dnt have anyhting borrowed - my shoes ended up being old, as the ones i planned on wearing were way to uncomfortable- i didnt even make it out of the hotel room
  5. i will put my 2 cents in I found the street vendors to be tyring thier best to sell, and some find it pushy- but it was much less of a mob scene than when we went to indonesia - there you couldnt walk - it was kinda like being britney spears for a day! the hotel staff dont ask for tips and the service is fine, i did give the bands, reception servers officiant, champane guy and chandlyn tips. I did not leave housekeeping a tip as i was ticked off at asking for 4 days straight for a blanket, and them not decorating our suite as promised. I found peole in cuba to be WAY more demanding of tips - it really ruined my trip there, jamacians may ask but everything they do is in a jovial mannor so keep it light, and be direct when you say no thanks You will be fine- just remember they are trying to make a livin
  6. at the riu we didnt have a dj for our wedding but did go to the disco one night the music is up to date but all on the regee side, so regge type rap ciara, west coast rap like snoop, lots of old gansta style rap.... also someone was asking about minors in the disco- i have to say when i was there there was a few kids- like maybe 8 there- no one paid attention - now they werent ordereing drinks and kinda stayed in the shadows - but they were there
  7. Micheal in his defense was a GREAT photog! If you have someone in your party that does professional quality shots thats different - but dont just get someone in your party to take them I had my cousin taking pics beside micheal the whole time, and he was very ok with this- with the plan of having to buy less shots from micheal- but when i look at the difference of the same pose from my cousin to micheals shots - WOW his are way better! He is really good at what he does and is worth the fee.
  8. We had paid for a special menu, so they printed menus for us- they didnt say anything about it being our wedding menu- otherwise it is whatever menu the resterant usually has We were in the plantation resterant as it has 2 levels it is better if you are not paying for a private reception becouse you are more secluded, we did pay for a private reception so the service was outstanding, there was some delay for everyone to get thier food, but in jamacia this seems to be the norm. i found mammee bay way to un private to have my reception there, we ate there the 2nd night at the resort and there was another large table with kids running around and screaming- i decided then i was going to pay for a private reception
  9. I didnt have an official welcome dinner but what we didi do is make resos for everyone for the first night at a resterant, then the next few days pp did what they wanted, then we has xmas dinner all together and a few small groups in between . There wasnt too mush of an issue getting a table for 26 as long as we were calling ahead and open to which resterant and time- fyi to make a reso you need at least 75% of peoples room numbers to book they ask for them or they wont book you in. and the mammee bay steak house is really good.
  10. Well i will try to answer all the questions: the chair sashes were 15 per chair including the cover- they have lots of colors to pick from The runner was 40 the steel drumm band was great they played the traditional wedding march for me but chandlyn did ask me what i wanted the cake was 50 - i think - i wasnt really asking - and it was great - we got rum cake on bottom them chocolate then vanilla. We didnt arrange the first dance on the main stage, after the reception we went to the show and got too close to the stage, the performers saw me in my dress and dragged us up there. I think that was everything
  11. We were in the newer part, an ocean front veranda suite. The rooms would have been ok, even though they are small if they were cleaner and the bathroom was gutted. There were still positives at this resort, but just the room was not up to the level i am used to when going to a 5 star resort. I just want others to be aware of this before they chose to go there.
  12. So we went from the Riu where we had a huge wonderful suite to couples swept away in negril for our honeymoon when booking i told hte TA no expense was to be spared i wanted the best for the honeymoon. Well I burst into tears when I entered my room - which i was told was the best the resort had to offer EWWWW it was tiny the bathroom was old, small the tub was tiny there was mold the veranda had moldy cushions, the whole resort was kinda grimy The hotel manager told me it was rustic - ok if dirt is rustic then ok The food was quite good and the service was good. also the turn down service at night was nice as towels got changed again and they put ice in the ice bucket I was just REALLY disapointed in the room, it was more 3 star too me. but the resort did grow on me as each resterant served you not like in the bigger resorts where it is larger more buffets. adn the drinks were good, lots of premium selections available Just be prepared it is not what the books nmake it out to be. To see pics of the issues and the pool etc go to my flickr site colleen.crummy
  13. they move all the flowers form the wedding to the tables for the reception and for me that was enough decoration....
  14. fyi i will be posting more pics on filkr tonite-m it takes so long to upload! There were absolutly no issues everything was perfect The chair covers were 15 usd each i think and the runner was 40 WEll worth it I think if you get any upgrade that is the one to get it makes it look so much nicer
  15. so i am back the wedding was awesome! Chandlyn was very helpful. We met with her a few days before, i showed her oics of the type of cake and flowers i wanted.. she took those and showed them to the florist and the baker(wjich she outsourced for us) We met quickly the day before for a rehearsal. basically it took 5 mins i just wanted everyone to see where they were going and when, she met me in my room adn escorted me to the beach so i knew excatly what to do. The pastor was great, adn you dont meet him before which is kinda strange. we wrote our own vows which he had no issues reading, he just didnt know what some of the words were like ebb,k and pronounced it wrong- no big deal. the weather was on and off clouds which kept it from getting too hot and it was not windy. We had champane served right afterwards on the beach. then off to pictures, micheal was awesome. we finally got a suite the day before the wedding which was awesome for the bridesmaids and ladies meeting in my room beforehand. als great for the wedding night, which however never did get decorated as promised and we didnt get our breakfast in bed as promised. in all it was great. we paid for the upgraded flowers, champane, isle runner chair covers, private reception in plantation resterant, special menu, steel drum band at ceremony, mento band at the reception and an outsorced cake, extra flowers. also paid extra to have a dvd made and have hte photog stay and extra hour at 90 usd , everything including the caprice package was 4500 usd. i will tryed to post some pics but it wants a url and i couldnt figure it out and got fustrated. so tell me how or look on flickr.com my account is colleen.crummy and the facebook group for riu weddings everyone who is getting married there will have a great wedding!!!
  16. nope sunquest is 20KG , or 44LBS total But i will be handing out the mugs i got at the airport and that brought me under Plus i am fully prepared to pay extra if need be...I have come to terms with it
