  1. Welcome back Tammy, everything looked beautiful! I can't wait to read your review.
  2. My hairdresser is having a Steele Magnolia wedding this summer here in Baton Rouge. Cajun band, white tents, and a armidillo grooms cake. As for me, I've always loved when Forest Gump marries Jenny, it is just like when my mom and dad got married, and I swear my mom had almost the same dress - it was the 70s - very simple.

Again, if you are having too much time and forget, I totally understand.
  4. Here are my reception shoes that I just ordered from Shoes.com for $50 bucks!! I love them because they are summery but not too bridal that I couldn't wear again. So excited about this purchase because I have looked at thousands of pairs of shoes over the past couple of months! These are my ceremony shoes from Victoria Secret (I'm not crazy over them because they actually have some pink glitter on them that I think is sort of cheesy, so I'm still on the hunt)
  5. University of Northern Colorado for undergrad and Louisiana State University for grad school. It's fun to see the different schools everyone has gone to!!!

  7. I agree with the others, you and the entire event looked stunning. I'm now not so worried to have my makeup done at the EDR spa. Congrats!
  8. Would one of you lucky ladies who are about to have their weddings in the next days/weeks, try to go see the presidential gazebo? I have pics from the forum and from Monica, but I keep freaking out about it for some reason since I've never been there and not too many EDR brides have been getting married there. I know you will be busy having the times of your lives, but if you find the time to take a quick peek I'd love to know what you think! Good luck everyone!!!
  9. I love puppy breath too!!! Here's a reverse dog fart story. My rat terrier Freddie HATES farts. I believe he actually is offended by them. If my FI farts even remotely close to him, Freddie gets all huffy and jumps down from where ever he is and will walk away very mad and disgusted...much like myself hen my FI farts...
  10. I just saw those bags myself and they are great. I can't decide on the mesh ones or the ones with the designs, but we decided these are going to be the bags we use.

  12. I guess I just have to add one thing. I posted this in the EDR ceremony thread, but I'll post it again here. I am one of the EDR brides bringing in my friend who happens to be a photog and she is staying 7 days at the resort with her husband. When EDR asked me about photography, I told them I would not need it because one of my guests would be taking pictures. She said that would be fine but if my friend had professional camera equipment then they would have to charge me $500. I was speechless. I wanted to say, no, she's using a disposable camera - of course she has professional camera equipment (and in that thread there was discussion on what constitutes "professional"). She and her husband are paying well over two grand to stay at the resort but this doesn't seem to resonate with them. I have not responded to her and have my TA who says she has the president of Destination Weddings.com working on it. I agree with Bande2008. I feel a little doped by the whole ordeal but am trying to make the best of it. I am going to send this thread to my TA, so she can warn other potential EDR brides, especially because she is the one who suggested the resort in the first place!!!
  13. I'm thinking that may have been the Casita's Gazebo, but I could be wrong. I guess most of it was washed away from a hurricane and now it only holds 8 people. Others who have been there would know the exact difference between faisanes and gazebo 55, but from what I learned from the forum gazebo 55 is the only gazebo that does not have "whales" or sandbags in the water, but it is surrounded by a rock wall. Faisanes is where Bre was married, so you can look at her pics. It is really wide open and beautiful as well but the gazebo is not that tall. I think you can only search through Advanced Searching. Try that.
  14. Tami, everything looks amazing. Where did you get the little starfish charm for the fans?

That makes sense. I can't believe Monica is now saying "regardless of payment" they require $500. On another more fun note, is anyone getting their makeup done at the spa? How did the other EDR brides like their makeup if they used this service?
  16. To add even more fuel to the fire.... Okay, so my girlfriend is going to take our pictures. She and her husband are staying at EDR for 7 days. Paying well over two grand for the both of them. Monica wanted to know what photography package we wanted, and I let her know that my friend who is a guest of the resort for 7 days will be taking our pictures. She said that if my friend has professional camera equipment they will still need to charge us the $500 fee (whether or not she is receiving payment for services - her words) because the resort could be inspected by the government. My friend does have professional camera equipment. This is insane. Will she even be able to get into the country with her camera?! I did not reply yet. What should I do?
  17. I am going to use Is this Love as my recessional song - so I am partial to that suggestion. Could you be loved is a little fast, so maybe you could switch that to your recessional song and they can walk down to One Love? Instead of the Big Mountain song, how about Peter Tosh's Here Comes the Sun? I think your song selections would be great in the order you have them though.

(just kidding - it will be fine). I copied Jennifer and am doing the same thing she is doing. Free dinner at El Cocotal and private party afterwards at the health bar for cake and dancing at ($8/person + cost of cake). I made these decisions mostly because they fit in our budget. BTW, I did have some initial concerns about Monica, but she has been great thus far. I would advise you to read the EDR ceremony, reception thread because there is tons of info on this topic...as well as anything else you can imagine on that thread! Happy planning and let us know how we can help.
