  1. I'm pretty sure caipirinha's are Brazilian. I drank a few every day for a week while in Brazil! The alcohol that it's made with is called Cachaca (kind of rum). Very tasty but time consuming to make!
  2. Nice find! Dresses for under $200 can be tough to find. Our friends will be grateful!

Welcome to the forum! Best invention ever to help with wedding planning!
  4. I'm getting married there too, but in November! How many people are you expecting? I'm excited to start my invites, but am a little nervous about the response rate! Are you getting married legally?
  5. After weeks of waiting, my FI finally decided to agree we should have our wedding/reception at the Royal in PDC! I'm very excited and am looking forward to moving on with the decisions and planning! I have pictures I can share if anyone is interested - I'm just not sure how to upload yet... Overall the rooms were great, the grounds of the resort were gorgeous, food was good (even the room service was quick!), and the staff was pleasant. I've seen so many cute STD and invites, I can't wait to create mine! If there are other brides out there that want to chat about the Royal, let me know! I'm getting married in Nov. 2008.
  6. Funny how so many of us are in the same boat! I too was just told by my fiance that it is important for my fiance to get married in the church. I'm not Catholic but he is...it's not definite but I think we will continue with planning our legal DW in Playa Del Carmen and then plan a separate ceremony in the church he grew up in when we get back (we're not having an AHR). I'm not sure how it works to have a legal wedding first out of the country and then to try and have one in the states. He's agreed to do the homework and talk with his chuch about next steps. I'm pretty sure we'll have to do some kind of pre-cana (perhaps in Chicago where we live!).
  7. I wasn't able to see the attachment. Is it because I'm low in points? I'd really like to try these boarding passes. Would someone be able to email me the document?
  8. I would like to get married in Mexico (Playa Del Carmen) but my fiance is apprehensive about the Spanish to English translation. He'd prefer to just have it in English. From what I've read it has to be in Spanish if we want the legal ceremony. Has anyone faced a similar dilemma? If so - how did you cope? Any advice?
  9. Hi ladies, I'm going to Playa Del Carmen in three days and am going to look at the Royal and Blue Parrot for my reception / ceremony. The reason I'm freaking out is that I feel like I need another option to look at... I was considering El Dorado Royale but am leaning away from it given the beach situation and location away from 5th street. Here is the gist of my needs / wants: -75 guests estimated -targeting Nov. 2008 for event -want to get married on beach -would like all guests to be able to stay in same place if possible (assuming they want to) -have a fiance that feels guilty asking guests to stay at an all-inclusive -would like to be near 5th ave to allow guests to have something to do without cabs... Anyone have any last minute thoughts for me regarding places to check out? Advice? Please!!!
  10. Hi Becky, I too am looking at the Royal for my wedding in November of '08. When you have a minute could you tell me how your day went? I saw in your note you were married in March. Everything from the ceremony, food, what photographer you used, DJ, etc. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks, Jen

I'm strongly considering having my wedding here too and would love to hear more about your success!

Thanks for all of the friendly welcomes everyone! This site is awesome! I could really use feedback for the Royal in PDC. I've searched the site but only found a few comments about this resort. Has anyone had their wedding here? A few questions that pop into my head include: -How many people attended? -How was the service from the Royal employees? -Were your guests happy with their stay and the cost? -Which photographer did you use? Would you recommend her/him for the cost and quality? - How was the food? - How was the DJ? etc. I'm also trying to get my fiance to feel comfortable with an all inclusive option. Any tips?
