I was one of those brides who felt almost DOPED. I asked for a high end resort and my TA recommended this. I read trip advisor, the brochures etc., confident I did some research and booked it! THEN found this site and started learning things - going to my TA and having to pay extra fees etc., and it has sucked! I feel doped. I feel let down. I feel punished. Because what, I DIDN'T KNOW! How was I to know. I wish I had the info upfront and I am sure other future brides will be thankful for the upfront info. The crap part now is that being informed, I would have chose a different place. However, in doing that it will cost my guests more and I am not comfortable asking for more money months after they have booked. I chose a DW for ease. Yet, I feel like I am banging my head against a wall. I suggest we put together a form letter of sorts speaking to the BS of this and our disappointment, making them aware we are a community of many displeased people who will take our current and future busines elsewhere to send them the message of how many people this is effecting and reaching.

I have already booked at EDR however as many people know there are a lot of politics about that resort right now (mainly re: fee increases and very odd fees) etc. As such I have been working with my TA to look at alternate options and ERC is at the top of my list. So I am trying to get the full wedding package info from someone to look over prices and options etc. before making a BIG decision to change.

Thanks girls I wish I chose Excellence from day one - however, if I change there now guests have to pay $200 more and I cant ask that. I will look into the others and see what the costs are. Hello, I am sure there have been posts on this, and in going back I think I ma understanding things - but I want to clarify! Is there a costco or walmart of some place where you can buy alcohol from in Playa or Cancun? We are wanting to do small bottles of tequilla for all our guests as favors and obviously want to buy it there as it would be too much to buy here and take with us .... As for the sand, I was worried - but 3 and 5 both dont have too long of trains. I have been asking girls if their dresses were ruined and so far so good, so I am not too worried.

OMG I am so sorry! I have been working 12 hour days ... I read EXPENSES not experiences................................. Sorry for the stupid info! So far my experience with them has been good.Good communication, decent prices, etc. I dont like that they charge for outside vendors, but it seems a trend. As many of you might know, I am looking at changing the location of my wedding from El Dorado. There are several reasons for this (listed in another post) What I still want is adults only, good beach, good food, etc. I like the area of the Mayan (as do my guests who have booked already, approximately 40 of them). We decided we wanted adult only for the "feel" and really dont want to change this as we had some fights with this choice initially!!!!! Here are the Adult Only AI's in the area I found. Im leaving El Dorado for several reasons 1) the beach is a disaster, and the beach is important to me. WHen I booked this, Yes, I did do research, but my travel agent really minimized it (I also felt rushed into makeing a choice on where) 2) they totally are nickle and diming. Yes, there have been talks about the $500 for outside photographers, but its more then that. I just read a review on trip advisor where they noted being charged extra for EVERYTHING. 3) The places has dropped in its rank on trip advisor over the past three motnhs, from 2nd, to 3rd and now 4th. 4) atleast 50% of the reviews on trip advisor recently are very negative 5) the price even keeps dropping. It just feels like the hotel is going down hill and that things that are important to me (like a beach) are real strong negatives .... So, I am resaerching other places at the moment! Thanks for your help I find it odd no one here has gone there .... that is a red flag to me.
