I just heard from Monica Apparently they need to know ahead of time - otherwise they will make half of one of your choices and half of the other - This is for the private reception. They need to do this to help figure out costs etc. UGH! One more thing on my list of things to do now!

I am sending a pre travel book to all guests, giving them information and to help keep them excited etc! I want to talk about EDR dress code, so under Restaurants I have the following. Is what I say accurate? I also will remind people about it again in my section on what to pack: On the EDR grounds, there are several restaurants for you to enjoy. In planning for what to pack, it is important that all guests are aware that there is a “Casual Elegant†dress code and this has been reported to be strictly enforced. This means no T-shirts, tank-tops, sweats, shorts, Bermudas, tennis shoes or beach sandals. Specifically, men must be wearing closed toed dress shoes to dinner. Women can wear open toed dress shoes that adhere to “Casual Elegant†code (i.e., no flip flops). Also of note: The restaurants can not accommodate tables with more than 6 people in a regular seating. EDITED: SEE BELOW FOR DRAFT ONE! I wanted to share for future brides if the information is helpful for them.

Im sorry, but I am still confused about something. When I got my draft of choices on a spreadsheet from Valeria, for the reception she wrote "how many" of each, next to my meal choices. So, Do people have to decide before coming which of the two menu items they will eat? When do I pay for all of it, at the beginning or end of the stay at the hotel? Thanks!

BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for sharing! (I have bolded my questions) what flowers did you get? I love how classy the white runner - basic decoration - basic wood chairs etc looked a tthe ceremony! Ive been sad I cant afford a ton, but you show less is more - so classy! at Gazebo 55 - did you find it windy? Could people hear you with the mic? what did your guests think of the resort? you and your hubby look soooo nice together - you look so happy Did you use your "free" reception for something else, like a rehersal etc. If so, what/where? How was it. I noticed people had cigars did you get a cigar bar, or how did that work I am so sorry I have so many questions. Looks amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats again!

So, Another girl pointed out spending money when your at an AI for a reception seems ridiculous when you are spending the money for food and drinks in your AI price .... Now Im wondering - maybe I should go off site for a reception. We are getting married at El Dorado. Any off site locations anyone can recommend?

Where was your welcome reception? Looks like your rehersal was at ElCooctal, was it? How was the food? How was it in general? Did all your guests come? Did you do a walk through rehersal? THANKS! -
Am I crazy?

I think this girl is from Regina (sask) Canada if so, we do things very different in Canada. We only have the option of ONE WEEK. That being said, I think somewhere between your and his price is reasonable. I wouldn't ask guests to pay more then $2ooo but thats just me - each to their own. And honestly you can go basically anywhere for that price. We got one of the top AIs in Mexico - Riviera area for that price. -
WOW Talent! Also I think its great to have a post of some of these "inspiring ideas" Thanks everyone! As for the one question: I sent out STD's 1 year in advance. Everyone verbally knew the date, but the STD, more like an invite actually, had booking information, and a link to our website for more information etc. I will be sending out a newletter re: what to pack, dress code etc., in the coming months here (to keep up the excitement/and final payments are due soon etc) and then a welcome letter given on the day of arrival. (thats my plan) I also have to make at home reception invites so lots more stationary work to do! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh If I knew how to post, I would post my STD/invite that I sent out 12 months in advnace to ensure everyone booked by the date necessary. If you want it, PM me your email.

So there has been some discussion on a few threads now re: which is better El Cocotal or Fuentes. Can people comment: 1) What are both atmospheres like in your opinion? 2) Where did you choose? Why? 3) What menu items did you offer? Please comment on them.... 4) if you were to do it again, how would you do it? 5) was it for your rehearsal/actual reception/or just a regular meal you ate at this/these places? THANKS:)
-
Silly Question: How did you make everyone give you their picks for dinner? IE: for the rehearsal AND for the actual ceremony/reception people are allowed one of two meal options. But these need to be specified 30 days before the wedding. How did you contact them and ask their their choice? Thanks! Eden

Whether a catamaran close by or a trip to Tulum, depending on how long your guests are staying. I agree with this. Especially since with most DW, and I know at EDR, you dont do a rehersal of any sorts. I dont think people would expect anything either. If you want to do something I think an excursion, meeting at one of the bars on the grounds (a dinner you might not be seated together from what I have read), and/or going to a resturant off site are all great ideas!
