  1. I am getting married at the EDR on October 11, 2008. I am concerned about the possibility of bad weather but bad weather can happen anywhere. That is the risk you take for significantly lower prices. The EDR is pretty big. End to end it is about a 15-20 minute walk. However, it does not seem so big. I think most things are well placed. I am trying to put all our guest in the same area so they can be close to one another. I have been working with Valeria who, so far, has been very responsive. Good luck planning. There are several EDR brides here.
  2. I do not know of any but I am still 9 months out. Good topic
  3. Very pretty - both of the dresses. If your heart says it is the "one" - go for it!
  4. I am getting married at the El Dorado Royale on October 11, 2008. It fit into our price range and gave multiple room options (ie Casitas). When we went down there we liked the resort alot. We visited Excellence. That resort is very nice and the w/c is awesome. However, we did not like the ceremony/reception options. We did not like that you had to join the Excellence club in order to get one of the better rooms. The w/c at Secrets Capri was not prompt in the reply's so we never got to tour that resort. I hope that helps. Which locations are you considering?
  5. Welcome. That is a great resort and the wedding coordinator is awesome.
  6. Welcome and good luck planning. You'll get tons of help here.
  7. Welcome! I am getting married there next October, how is the planning going?
  8. Welcome! You will get alot of great advice here.
  9. I am using Destinationweddings.com too. They seem good so far, a little pushy. However, she is the one who told me not to use a block of rooms. I just want to make sure she is not just saying that so that I go thru her.
  10. These pictures are amazing. You look so beautiful! Where exactly did you take the pictures? Was it at your resort?
  11. Has anyone reserved rooms in a block or as a group at the EDR as opposed to having a travel agent plan seprately for your guests? My TA is telliing me it would be too difficult and not necessarily cheaper to do a block reservation as my guests are coming down at different times and days. Thanks.
  12. I love the pictures. I makes our decision to get married at EDR easier. Any advice?
  13. Well, we got positive repsonses over Christmas so....We are going for it! I am very happy one decision is made. Only 579 more to go!
  14. Thanks for all your support. I read this to my hubby to be to encourage him as well. We have put some thought into it and we are back to a DW as a strong possibility. I will say AA STILL has not given us the time of day. Even after daily phone calls. The real test will be discussing this over Christmas with the family. Wish me luck.
  15. BTW The wedding coordinator told me the bathrooms by Gazebo 55 are "just a 2 minute walk" However, the only ones that I did see are the ones behind Fuentes which is longer than 2 minutes unless you were running to get there.
  16. Our site visit went boderline terrible, I am not sure if we are still having a destination wedding. Here is a short recap: Our layover in Miami from NYC was late so we had to RUN to the connection. The flight was already boarded but we made it on. However, our luggage did not. When we arrived in Cancun we discovered our luggage was missing. We made a report and was told we will get it that night. I turned around to find abour 45 people waiting to also make a luggage complaint. When we got our luggage the next morning, we discovered items stolen from us. It is a very violating feeling to know that someone went Christmas shopping by sorting thru our personal items. Pants, shirt, socks, a razor and blades etc. stolen. The short version is as of yet, American has done NOTHING for us but give us the run around. I will not fly American again and I advise everyone to not use them. It took a while but we recovered from this. It did leave a black cloud over the whole DW concept and Mexico as a choice. How can we promise 45 people to come with us and that it would be safe? El Dorado Royale is a great resort and it would be the one we pick. It has everything we want. Great rooms choices, a great over-all feel. The beaches are not the best but useable. The food was decent as well. This resort is very big, 20 minute walk from end to end. Excellence is also nice. It has a prettier hotel, rooms and beach and a great wedding coorinador but the wedding locations are not what we are looking for. It is also more of a hotel than a resort. It also had a more party vibe. But that is not what we are looking for. If anyone has questions or need pictures, ask because I took a photo of almost every inch of the place. I just hope we can overcome this black cloud and still have a DW.
  17. Thanks. I will definitely look into that. Will check out the bathroom situation too!
