This is the second time today someone has mentioned this company - StillMotion - Stunning Imagery for the Discerning Bride - to me! My younger daughter sent me one of their links because a friend of hers wants to use them for her wedding.

Congratulations to both of you!

Wedding Gowns - You VS Model
Helen_S81 replied to ~Melissa~'s topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
The model: The dress on my daughter: It was the closest pose to the model that I could find. -
I have to be really careful about sunscreen too. I found a brand that works for me and try to only use that brand untill I couldn't get it in Canada anymore. I'm down to the last bottle bought on a cross border shopping trip. So now I'm working my way through some different kinds of sunscreen trying to find one that works when I'm out in the sun. I can use it and not go out and not have a reaction but then when I go in the sun I get a rash. I'm really fair skinned too so I use a high spf. The only thing I've used is the Goldbond medicated moisturizer to reduce the itch, but I wouldn't use that on my face. Good luck!

Engagement party pics

We had soooo much fun (and sooooo much alcohol!) We were actually shocked at the number of presents we got, and some really creative ones too! A bunch of my FI's law school buddies got together on and gave us a weekend getaway to this great hotel/spa in a town nearby called Niagara-on-the-Lake... My dress is from this Toronto designer, Anne Hung. I actually got it the day before the party when I went into her store to look at some potential bridesmaids dresses. I want my BM dresses to be light, bright, and rewearable and her designs fit the bill! Then I saw this great cocktail dress and decided it was perfect for the party! I love Niagara-on-the-Lake! One of my favourite places in Ontario. Which hotel/spa? -
I did the trip to England with one baby, and then later on with a toddler and a baby, alone (overnight flight, fully booked, with two seats between the three of us - which I wouldn't recommend). The first trip was when Katie was around 5 months old. The flight can be difficult if you have a child who won't go to sleep. If you are thinking of 'medicating' the baby so it will sleep make sure you try it out ahead of time (benedryl, gravol etc. made Katie bounce of the walls). It is better if there are two of you to take care of the baby on the flight. I don't really have anything to add to the advice you have already been given except to say that as far as I know the airlines will ship a car seat for you and it is not included in your baggage allowance. Also you can keep a stroller right up until you board the plane and then they take it and stow it for you, then bring it out first so it is right there as you come off the plane. I was lucky that in most cases I was going to visit family so I had them go shopping for me ahead of time and they met me at the airport so once I got there I didn't have to do too much. A pacifier worked for my two for helping to clear the ears. Have fun on your travels!

Well we are doing it! Just picking up and moving to a new town!
Helen_S81 replied to Debs's topic in Random Thoughts
We used to live in Brockville. Both of my daughters were born there and we moved from there in 1991. It's a great community but unfortunately my husband lost his job so we had to move. Good luck in selling your existing home and on your new adventure! -
How exciting for you and Mike. Wishing you all the best.

I feel so badly for your poor mom and dad who sound like they just want to do the right thing and are not quite sure what that is right now. I hate that feeling of wanting to help out and not wanting to intrude. It does sound like sil has an issue with your parents. This might not be the right time (emotions could be coming into play) but I would suggest that your mom and/or dad ask bro and sil if they have done something to upset them and ask for suggestions on how they can make the situation work for all involved. Maybe once your sil can see how your mom and dad are just trying to do their best she will be more accomodating?

What you could try is a black marker, ie a sharpie or something similar. I've done that before and it hides a small bleach mark.

My daughter spent the night before the wedding with some of her bridesmaids and they had a sleepover. The morning of the wedding the best man came downstairs first to clear the way then they brought the groom down for breakfast so I knew he was in the restaurant where they kept him with his back to the windows. My daughter then came down and went straight into the spa. She was there from 10am until 1:30pm - as per the suggestion of someone else on this forum she had a massage, mani, pedi, and her hair done. We took her some food into the spa and once she was done she came straight up to my room where we had left everything she needed to get ready. I was surprised but the groom and his family were adamant that he not see the bride after midnight the night before until she walked down the aisle, and between us all we did it

photo scavenger hunt in OOT bag?
Helen_S81 replied to Agape Gems's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
We put one together and it was included in the welcome package in the OOT bags. I only know of one couple that attempted to do any of the suggested photo's and they definately made it a mission to do them all. I saw them at one of the fountains one afternoon and she was posed as a statue whilst he tried to take a picture. Then I saw them about an hour before we left the resort laying on the ground trying to make a word (Si) and get someone to take their picture. When I see the pictures they took I'll post some for you guys -

For $300 you can get 36 pictures or for $350 you get the CD with a full set of high resolution pictures, of which Katie seems to think there are just over 100, but that originally he must have taken close to 300 because of the numbering system on the pictures. So the CD is what the photographer considers the best shots. The DVD of the wedding was $450. All prices are the 2008 prices. Expect an increase for 2009 weddings. All US dollars.

How long was the professional photographer there, and did they have the option of purchasing more photos than the package allowed? We're thinking of hiring an outside photographer, but I really don't want to spend that kind of money if the hotel one is good. I don't need him to watch me get dressed (I'm shy!), but if he does a load of pictures to choose from, I'm good! Thank you! Yes, I'm still around. They went with the 'Royal' wedding package. The photographer was only around for about 30 minutes before the ceremony and about 30 minutes after, so maybe 1.5 hours in total. The photographer was at the ceremony site to take pictures of the groom and groomsmen before the ceremony. He took some pictures of Katie and her Dad and I on the way to the ceremony, then took some shots of Katie and some of her and her Dad before walking down the aisle. They upgraded the wedding photography package. The wedding was on Wednesday and the photographer showed up on Friday (9am?) with a laptop set up with all the pictures on it (100 or so?) so that they could go through and select 12 to be printed. They couldn't decide on the 12 so he did 15 or so. They also got a complete set of the pictures, high resolution, on a CD which I'm pretty sure is the upgrade they paid for. Not sure of the cost. The photographer was only there for the ceremony. All the pictures of her getting ready in the room were taken by friends. Pictures at the reception, including cutting of the cake, were taken by guests. We have some friends with pretty fancy cameras so they also took them out on the beach and did some sunset shots with just the two of them, but I haven't seen any of those yet. Katie & Chris also had the ceremony videotaped by someone arranged by the hotel. I've not seen the DVD of that yet either. I will attempt to get information out of Katie about the details but I expect it will be around the 7th of June before I get to see the DVD of the ceremony or the CD with the complete set of pictures. I'll ask her about the cost and get back to you if she tells me

Sorry, I don't have a real solution but that happened to a car we had a few years ago (can't quite rememeber what it was but it was a North American car). One night I got stopped by the RIDE program (random police check points set up to check for drinking and driving) and had to open the door to speak to the police officers. They must be used to it because they said it was ok and I went on my way.

Congratulations! Glad that everything turned out ok.

Kandys - Found the Pricelist

My daughter and I also checked out all of the stores in Brampton, but ended up getting the wedding dress at Windsor Bridal on Orfus Road (near Yorkdale). It is kind of a zoo in there on the weekends, so if you can go on a weekday during the day you will get better service. We also had a really good experience with Bea Shawn (Main Street and Vodden) for the bridesmaids dresses.
