I want to make postcards for my welcome bags. I got the idea from this website to do the postcards (can't think of who to credit them Sorry!) Does anyone have any good Punta Cana or Dominican Republic pics that I could use? Thanks in advance!

Hi I'm getting married at PPR next Nov. Was wondering what kind of reception everyone is having? Sit down? Buffett? CoolnChic? I'm having a hard time deciding between sitdown and buffet. I have at least one vegetarian and one person that doesn't eat red meat. Does anyone know if the PPR will let your guests pick what they want if its a sitdown?

That makes sense! I'm still trying to get used to all of the abbreviations and things. It took me a while to see STD and not immediately be like "Ewww, sexually transmitted diseases. What kind of form is this!" Just kidding!

I really like them. I would love to have ones like that but the groomsmen shirts we are getting have a flower print on them. i'm afraid they would clash with the dresses. I'm jealous of your bm dresses.

HI DARA! My FH's name is Derek too. I'm getting married in Nov 2008 also but in Punta Cana. I went to Jamaica once and had a great time. I'm sure you will too. This forum is great, i just found it two weeks ago and love it. Good luck planning.

I just picked my resort last week and if my guests what the special rate they have to put $100pp deposit down by Dec 22nd. If not they just won't have that low guaranteed rate. I don't have a group rate, maybe that's why. It may not be your TA's fault it might be the resort, my TA had told me before that if we did a group rate the resort might need a deposit right away. Well, I don't know if you can do this but if my guests (ones that I know are definately going) don't get their deposits in by Dec 15th, fiance and I are going to pay for our trips in full but our TA is letting us use that money to put the deposits down for people who didn't do it yet, and than when these people put their deposits down (giving them till end of Jan to do it) that will just go back towards our trip. Now our TA is a friend of mine so if for some reason these people don't every put down money by January, she is going to cancel them and give us the money back. She said she would get rid of the rooms somehow for us, so we don't get stuck putting deposits down for people who don't go. Sorry, if this doesn't make sense kinda confusing.

HI Rich and Elaine! Welcome to the forum, 1. I'm using a regular travel agent that I'm friends with but, she's located in NJ. 2. I'm sending out Save the Dates right away (I just picked my resort last week so i'm sending Save the Dates this weekend). I'm making little magnet Save the Dates but also sending a letter with price information, resort info, my travel agent information, and my contact information. Will also enclose a little sheet I made from the resort website that has all of the room details, restaurant details, and other resort details. This way all my guests will know how much to save, when they need to take off, etc. There's a section on this forum for Save The Dates and Invitation information you should check. 3. and 4. I'm getting married in Punta Cana but looking through this sight I did see a lot of posts that were brides who got married or getting married at the Dreams in Cabo (they all made it sound wonderful) Definately look through them. Might even be posts for the Riu in Cabo too. 5. I looked on The Knot website and it gave me all the info I need to get married in Punta Cana, my wedding resort actually gave me the same info on their website. I just picked my resort last week and let me tell you once you pick it, everything gets a lot easier (at least so far). Good luck!

I voted for #1, that was actually one of the shirts that we were looking at for our wedding. I really liked it.

Hi I'm getting married at the Paradisus Palma Real in November of 2008. I wish I could go for a visit before that but we have so much going on here in New Jersey. Please let me know what you think of the resort. If you do choose this resort I would be happy to send you my wedding pics and any wedding info when we get back next year. I did email some people through tripadvisor that had their weddings their any questions I had about their weddings. Most people are very helpful. I might be able to send you their responses from tripadvisor. If I can figure it out.

I work in an income tax office and a lot of women never changed their last names with social security. They didn't even realize they had to. I'm talking women who have been married from anywhere to 3 months to over 20 years. I've never heard of any of them getting in trouble when they did it years after the fact. That's all I know about it. wish i could help more. - Danielle

Thanks for all the advice. I'm trying to convince Derek, my FH, to wait till June 2008 to send out invites since we are doing STDs now. But that is no easy task. so stubborn. I'll keep working on him though. Thanks again!

Hi girls! I finally picked my resort. I feel so relieved now, it's great! I am getting married Nov 2008 at the Paradisus Palma Real. Just waiting for confirmation from the judge to make sure my date is okay. I'm so excited!

So, I finally picked my hotel and am now going to be sending invites out hopefully by end of December or early January. My wedding isn't until Nov 2008. I was wondering what people put on their RSVPs. Did you put a cut off date for people to RSVP by? How far before the wedding? I'm just wondering because i'm sending invitations so far in advance or do you think i should wait on invitations and just send Save the Dates for now. Which I am supposed to be doing this weekend anyway. Let me know what you girls did and any suggestions for me. Thanks a bunch!

I voted for excursion. When I went to Jamaica, I did The Falls excursion. You climb up waterfalls. And after I did it, I felt like I accomplished something. And by no means, am I an active person. It was really cool. And if you wanted, you could purchase the picture they take of each girl climbing up and give it to them as another gift. I think pics were like $8 or something like that.
