  1. very cool! now i just need to log on from a real computer at home that doesnt block facebook, so i can enter!
  2. not stupid questions! BUT they have been answered many times before. what country are you getting married in? try searching thru these threads to see if it will help http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/search.php?search=catholic+ceremony
  3. what a great offer! have you posted a review of your wedding yet? http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/f/77/wedding-reviews http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/category/resorts-villas
  4. hi jessica! welcome to BDW. rather than ask in your newbie thread, a better way to find answers is to search in the Costa Rica forum http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/f/100/costa-rica-weddings there you will find much more specific info than in this thread, since most people seeing this thread are newbies too happy planning!
  5. hi jen! welcome (officially haha) to BDW, we are so happy you found us!
  6. hello and welcome! so happy to have you
  7. a lot of people bring their iPods and handle the music themselves, but make sure to assign someone you trust to know how to operate it, but also someone that isnt in the wedding party or something like that. as far as a projector, i dont know if your resort offers that but what a fun idea! hope it works out!
  8. again no contest for me with this one! the caribe photo one is so lovely, i can just hear the b&g saying WE DID IT! WE PULLED OFF THE MOST AMAZING WEDDING EVER!! to each other so perfect.
  9. this one no question for me, Gonzalo Nunez. i LOVE how it brings together the beauty and serious side of the wedding with the dress, but also the fun and wild side with the cowgirl hat which to me represents the wedding party having fun together all week at the DW.
  10. I'm torn! the one by del Sol is smoking hot. the one by Gonzalo Nunez is absolutely breathtaking. Moments That Matter is awesome the way they captured the ocean spray to surround the shot, and the Sweetfire one is totally my style. But i think i have to go with Gilda Badillo because it's a classic TTD pose, but the moment was caught right between sexy posing i'm sure, and i just love that the couple is laughing together! it really brings back memories of my own TTD experience
  11. i think its an amazing idea! no outside stress, no one to worry about, no OOT bags, no reception to plan! it sounds like heaven haha perfection!
  12. how on earth did you make it a year without posting?!? i would have died. welcome to the dark side
  13. Im sure it depends what is included with your package. You could buy and bring with you, as many have, or purchase interesting glass/pottery containers when you arrive and DIY. Sent from my iPhone 4 using Tapatalk
  14. destination weddings are different in that anything goes. you can be as traditional as you like, or completely different on every item! generally, guest pay for their own rooms. most families choose to have the brides parents pay for the wedding package, which usually includes the wedding and the reception. but i do personally know a lot of brides who along with their fiance, paid for the wedding themselves. i would hope that if the brides parents are footing the cost of the wedding package, that the grooms parents would host an AHR since there is no rehearsal dinner cost, unless you are going off resort for that... there really are a lot of factors involved, i dont think its as cut as dry as "the brides family pays for it all."
  15. in case there are members who are not able to access youtube, is there a way you could post your story here?
  16. i would say in your case, a pre-save the date would be the best option. maybe just a postcard saying something like "more info to follow, but please save the week of blahblahblah for the destination wedding of x and x." that way people know the basic who what when, and then as soon as you nail down the exact when and where you can send an official STD, later followed by the actual invite. depending on how large your party is, i would send out a more official version of a pre-std, not just email or word of mouth. you want the guests to know its serious and its coming up, we're not just discussing it. so something printed. maybe using vistaprint or another less expensive/free postcard service?
  17. i haven't done it or heard of it, but it does sound like a really fun thing to bring together the families, even tho they are competing against eachother
  18. Hi elissae! Have you seen the Tapatalk app? It's $2.99 and I'm using it RIGHT NOW!! Go get it! I have some minor complaints about it, but being able to BDW without using my browser is so much nicer! Sent from my iPhone 4 using Tapatalk
  19. Perfect Trisha it's exactly as I remembered! Sent from my iPhone 4 using Tapatalk
  20. By secluded I should clarify, it's RIGHT on the walking path by the Mexican restaurant, and rooms. It is NOT private to your party at all. I meant it is blocked from view of the beach by trees and such. Sent from my iPhone 4 using Tapatalk
  21. The gazebo at Tulum is really pretty, however it is secluded and not directly in view of the beach/ocean. Personally if I'm going all the way to Mexico for my wedding, I would much rather get married on the beach location! Sent from my iPhone 4 using Tapatalk
  22. Personally, I would have her. Not because of etiquette reasons but just to show a bond between you and your FI's family. You don't have anything against her, imagine how happy it would probably make her, and how everyone would say oh how nice, etc. Honestly it's up to you and of course you should do what YOU want on your day. But maybe it will be the beginning of a beautiful friendship between you two, even if you have no common ground now, it could be the base for it later. Sent from my iPhone 4 using Tapatalk
  23. hi angela! start here: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/28059/oot-bag-contents-master-list-of-possible-items if that doesnt help, try using the search bar above, type in OOT IDEAS or something similar, you'll find more ideas than you can shake a stick at
