  1. I can't wait to go home a see your pics on "real" computer. Have fun and enjoy your special day!
  2. I was going to say I liked the lace one better on you, then one post made me go back and look at your facial expression (that's what I usually judge by, which one a girl looks happier in!), and both expressions were the same! So I looked at the dresses closer, and decided I really like the Casablanca one better. I was so set on the lace one, and it is beautiful, but the new one just has that certain something that makes you go "Thats the ONE!" Sorry, I know you didn't want to spend more money, but if you go by our majority, looks like you need to get the new one! You do look stunning in both tho, so whichever way you go, you will look amazing on your big day
  3. HA! I just found some 12"X18", and possibly some full-size, stardream paper at Traditional and specialty envelopes and papers, including metallic paper - Paper-Papers.com, so my vision maay become a reality. I gotta crunch some numbers and see what would be more cost-effective for me.
  4. Melissa, I would think if I wanted to do a 6X6 card, I would need enough for 2 6" sides, plus enough for about a 2 or 3" pocket, plus the flap, about another 2 or 3". So 18", or 20" long to be safe, and then at least 8" wide (in order to do a 1"flap on each side that would double-stick tape the pocket to the side), but where in the world would I find Stardream-type shimmery paper that size I'm pretty sure I'll just buy the pre-made pocketfold cards, then just do my own matting and invite card, respond card, inserts, printing, etc. I just really wanted to play with it and have something to see in person to figure out what I thought. Thanks for all your encouraging comments! Really, if you saw these in person, you would have to snicker at me a little. But the idea is great, I just don't know how to pull off the whole paper size issue. Also, I am sure I would be completely happy just orderding the pre-made pockets. It was just fun to try Seriously tho, if anyone knows where I can get the crazy size paper, let me know!
  5. Bad boy Amos! I ended up showing Doug my veil cause I was so excited, and I showed him pics of the dresses I DIDN'T get. Yea for you! It's so exciting to have your hands on it and it makes its so real once you have it with you. Congrats!
  6. The second one is pretty, but I adore the lace and sash on the one you already own. But have fun today, and good luck with your decision!
  7. OMG, I just scored in two places with my fiskars, and I had to tape the flap piece on, and the pocket wasn't wide enough so I had to tape extra there too cause my paper wasn't long enough. Thanks, tho, really. I just have no idea where to get long enough paper to do what I'd like, well without buying the pre-made ones anyways.
  8. Ha! Thanks gals, you can actually see the scotch tape I used! And where I cut too short and had to tape my hand where the ring shows! Doug and I are laughing at these right now!
  9. I was feeling so super creative today after perusing the invite thread I stumbled upon when searching for info on pocketfold invites. We're broke right now after Christmas and our Chicago road trip, so I just had to play around with my supplies that I already had on-hand. What resulted is something in totally incorrect colors, not a good watermark pic, bad font, horrible font size, and alignment that is so out of whack it's not even funny.... BUT-here goes! My totally lame attempt at making a trial invite: The colors will actually be closer to an aruba shade of turquoise with a brown sugar color of brown, and the actual invite card with possible watermark and wording will be printed on an ivory shade of the shimmery cardstock. I am totally in love with Christa's invites and will probably go with the "real", premade pocketfolds, but I was just feeling antsy and creative and thought I'd give all you "idea whores" some fodder JUST KIDDING! OK, let the insults roll! HA!
  10. Hopels, thats great, thanks for the wording! I "oopsed" and did a very similar thread without searching first, but I think I'm gonna stick with the Beach Formal wording, along with the description above.
  11. Did you use a corner punch for the slits or did you measure and hand cut? They look so awesome! Plus it doesn't hurt that you and I have two of the same colors! I LOVE the aruba and espresso together! You totally inspired me. That's it. I'm doing my own! Maybe none of your guests will apprecitate your hard work, but all of us on BDW will!! Thanks!
  12. I was at Target last night and near their "crafty people" aisle on and end-cap they have these paper books that are full of different themed scrapbook background pages and punchouts, they are only $9.99, they have a wedding one I was thinking about getting just for the extra pages and stuff to go with the Creative Memories stuff I already have. BTW--it is NOT the one that is shown on the website, (I tried to find a pic for you) it's much cuter with lots of different colored pages and punchouts.
  13. Maura & Danielle, oh my gosh guys, these were so super easy. I am sorta paper-crafty by nature, so that helped as far as the idea, but here's what I did: At the Paper Zone by my house, they have this new thing called PZ, which is a whole section of blank paper products in co-ordinating colors, different sizes and shapes of envelopes, flat and note cards, etc. I just picked some out in my wedding colors, then wandered around the store for inspiration. I knew I wanted to incorporate our theme, which is Hawaii, since that is where our small, legal ceremony will be, but I'm not going for the Oriental Trading version of Hawaii theme, more understated and classic. I found this little box of paper flowers that included some silver metal brads, and that gave me the idea to punch them thru the cardstock in the corner. It didn't seem dressy enough, so I found some matching ribbon. I just put a couple paper flowers on each brad and punched them thru the one corner, eye-balling the placement. I wasn't too worried if they were perfect! Next I cut the ribbon to the length of the cards and put a thin stripe of Ailene's tacky glue down each ribbon, and then placed it between the flowers. Probably would have been easier to do this step first! Then in Word I just thought up the wording, played around with the font and color, size, placement, etc. and copied/pasted each time, then just went back and changed the name and role for each person in an espresso brown color. I should have printed these on nicer paper, but I just used regular old white computer paper. If I was gonna do it again I would use some pretty ivory cardstock or something instead. Also when I cut them out I just used my fiskars paper trimmer, but again I would have used my edger and made the edges a little torn looking, just for detail. I just glued the white paper on the cards and I was done! Oh I also got the espresso envelopes at Paper Zone in the PZ section. I did a total of 7, took me about an hour! Honest! I did something totally different for Maid of Honor, Matron of Honor, and Best Man, not involving crafts. And our chihuahua's are gonna be our ring bearers, so they didn't need one! I'm pretty sure I am gonna do my invites after getting some ideas and encouragement today, It wouldn't be so hard!
  14. OMG! Thats a lot of people! Tammy, you rock! You're crazy, but we love you for it!
  15. I love how these turned out, makes me think maybe I should think about making our actual wedding invitations! Just a few...
  16. So people keep asking us what they should wear to our wedding, (the big "fake" one at home, not the small "real" one at destination). It will be at 7:00pm on a lake in mid-July, and we want guys to wear dressier hawaiian shirts and khakis or slacks, and ladies to wear sundresses or similar. We would rather not have people show up in shorts, so I keep describing it as "Beach Formal" but I don't think that really conveys the right thing. What words do I use to describe "not formal, but no speedo's please?" I'd like a specific phrase to use that we can say and use in the wedding website info page. Be creative!
  17. First of all, your dress is so pretty! Ilike the halter too, there were none in my size at the shop when I was there. Your dress looks so beautiful on you! Good job! Second, OMG Melissa, you cracked me up with your siggy!
  18. Thanks ladies! Any time over the next 6 months that I feel like I have regrets or wish that I did something different about the dress I will just search for this thread and read all your sweet remarks and comments. You all are so kind and make me feel so lovely! That helps a lot! And don't worry, when I finally get it hemmed and add the cinch on the cuff I'll repost new pics!! Thanks again!
