  4. OK, so the Seattle meetup is in a few days and it's got me wondering.. I've never gone out with a random bunch of people that have no connection in "real" life yet (except for Christa and Kate who met previously, the rest of us are not "real" friends, YET!) Obviously we're not gonna sit around and chat in BDW code, altho I can see it now Lot's of funny STD and OOT Bag conversations with people at the other table craning their necks to figure out WTF we're talking about (And with J-M, the resident class clown, I'm sure we'll have some fun stories to share ) HAHA! For those of you who have done meetups before (doesn't have to be BDW), give the rest of us the inside scoop! What were you expecting? What did you chat about? Did everyone match up to their "online" personality? Was it awkward? Did instant friendships form? Was the conversation as free-flowing and random as it is here? Was it just non-stop wedding talk, or did you delve deeper into each others lives? I'm excited for our Seattle Meet-Up, and it just made me start thinking how I wish I could have gone to some of the others so far, the pics have looked like everyone had a blast!

  7. BTW--Cali, I want to change my book suggestion for next time. I had 2nd thoughts about my old book and I think it might be too dull. I'll email you my new suggestion.

Jamy, I agree about the marriage part. I, too, felt differently this time around. The first read I thought why would that happen? Wouldn't you lean on eachother and care for eachother? But the second read I realized that it shows how everyone is different and we would all react in ways we wouldn't expect. And Grandma Lynn was a riot! She reminded me a little bit of my spit-fire Grama Doing what she wants and not caring if it's exactly the way it "should" be done.
  9. I'm so prepared mentally for everything, but I'm stressed about $. I have EVERYTHING planned out to a T, but haven't actually done a lot cause I haven't bought any of it! So I'm gonna be one of those freaking out at the last minute cause I just finally had enough $ to pay for everything I want. Oh well, whaddaya gonna do? Way to go Carly, that's gotta be a good feeling! I know I'll be jealous!

  11. Oh wow, I haven't seen it yet in Seattle, but I have to say I am a BIG fan of the Arizona Sweet Tea which you can get in huge-o-mungous jugs on sale at Walgreens for like $2.50. No clue if that is close to the real deal either, but it sure is good! Now I'm on the lookout for McD's version! Ooh, ICE!
  12. From the Stranger: "Up on 15th Avenue: yet more goodness at also-brand-new Smith (332 15th Ave E, 709-1900), the latest from Linda Derschang. Everybody loves Linda's (and Linda's King's Hardware in Ballard, too), and Smith's first night was packed full and concomitantly loud. Smith is less raucous old-West saloon, more dark hunt-club pub, with wainscoting and doors ("LIBRARY" in distressingly off-center letters) salvaged from the renovation of Garfield High School (go Bulldogs!). The taxidermied birds: creepy and wonderful (the goose over the bar is already everybody's favorite, but they're overlooking the spoonbill whose case is inset in the north wall). The drawing of the child on the menu: also creepy and wonderful. The chef is from Licorous, making the food situation extremely promising: deviled eggs, fried duck leg, devils on horseback (dates stuffed with blue cheese wrapped in bacon: already everybody's favorite). You can get a Rainier tallboy ($2) or a pint of St. Bernardus Abt 12 ($. Everybody's happy."
  13. I can get there early if we need someone to hold a table, I'm available as early as 530p. Is this the kind of place you can bring a book and sit and have a drink by yourself while you wait for others to show up, or is it more like crowded hipster joint where I would feel akward by my bookish self? I don't mind going early to get us a spot if we have to, but not if I'll look like a retard From the Stranger: "Up on 15th Avenue: yet more goodness at also-brand-new Smith (332 15th Ave E, 709-1900), the latest from Linda Derschang. Everybody's happy." from seattlemag.com: You wouldn’t recognize Smith, the latest brainchild of owner Linda Derschang (owner of Viceroy, King’s Hardware and Linda’s), as the sad-sack restaurant-space-of-a-thousand-closures that the address has been over the last decade or so. Her touch is so sure that Smith already has the patina of a long-standing barroom, complete with Derschang signatures such as creepy taxidermy and dark, rough woodwork. For food, Derschang brought on chef Gordon Wishard (formerly of Licorous, Vios and The Harvest Vine—and, for disclosure’s sake, an old friend and colleague), who’s showing his pubby British side here with mysteriously named dishes, including devils on horseback (dates wrapped in bacon, $6), brawn (head cheese, $7) and trotters (pig’s feet, $9). The soft trotter meat is shredded, covered in a pancetta vinaigrette and tucked into a crépinette patty ($9) bound with caul fat (a lacy membrane from the pig’s abdomen), which in turn is served with a pancetta vinaigrette and sliced roasted peaches. The result is tasty, but seriously unctuous—I didn’t get really into it until I started slapping some mustard on each bite to cut through the richness. This lushness is something of an issue at Smith—it also crops up in the house potted cheese, a sort of beery, buttery cheese spread, and a pork (shoulder) sandwich ($, served on a pillowy brioche bun. I’d like to see more oddball British relishes, chutneys and pickles to offset the suppleness of it all. The house-cut fries—made of sweet potatoes ($5) or russets ($4), are above reproach, and should be eaten in vast quantities with a pint of Polish Black Boss porter ($6). Dinner daily. Award: Best French Fries Sounds fun

  15. Christine, thanks for posting the list! Love it!
  16. I'm totally wondering if everything the tabs have been saying lately will pan out the same on the show. I have this feeling Heidi and Lauren will end up being chummy again after Spencer gets the boot. Just my uneducated guess.

  19. Oh this makes me think of this past Christmas, when we found out Doug's daughter doesn't believe in Santa anymore. It made us sad I'm hoping your 2 yr old was just repeating something he heard, cause everything is so much more fun when they still believe in the magic
  20. Ali that's so exciting! YAY for you! I'm jealous
  21. Somehow I missed this! Just wanted to say Congrats, and loved the pics! I'm jealous because sometimes I wish we could just run off to Vegas and do it the easy way, but our parents would kill us at this point! Thanks for sharing! Can't wait to hear all about Cabo!
  22. Ooh, thats fun! I want to send it the Queen as well! Thanks for the idea! By the way, the outside of the invite is really cool! Would like to see more pics
  23. OMG Dawn I ADORE these. They look fantastic! My favorite flat-card invite yet! If I would have seen these first, I would have done them. Beautiful! Where did you find them? Any chance you can make the reply postcard a bit bigger?
