  1. Okay, I went a little overboard but what do you think? The monkey one was just to tease my FI. Thanks to MikkiStreak for the instructions.

Need to drop 5lbs before I feel up to it. Figure I should just wait until the holidays are over.
  3. In Pittsburgh, we have a tradition of the cookie table at weddings. All burgh weddings have this. Either homemade or bakery ordered, there is an entire table filled with various types of cookies to snack from at any time during the reception. I was surprised to learn (when I lived out of state) that this isn't done everywhere. It's one of the best parts about going to a wedding...besides the polka, that is! Wonder if the candy buffet got its start from the cookie table?

I would love to check them out. I am getting totally obsessed with online reviews and forums for this wedding. I'm not going to know what to do with myself when it is all done.
  5. Welcome to the forum!! Have fun with your planning! You don't have too long to go until your wedding.
  6. Welcome to the forum! You'll find tons of good info and ideas on here.
  7. MelissaH is right...all things happen for a reason. You'll get through it and when your wedding date is here, everything will be just right.

  9. I am going through Apple. You can check out prices online at applevacations.com to compare hotels. If you are in a charter city, they may have the pricing for the whole package. If it is not up yet, you can select hotel only and compare the resorts. The charter airfare from Pittsburgh is $577. When I first started planning, I had two resorts picked out (Dreams Tulum and Barcelo Maya Colonial Beach) but when prices came out, those two were too expensive. Then I started looking again and narrowed it down to Barcelo Maya Caribe and Gran Bahia Principe Coba. I decided on Coba since it is 5 golden apples and not that much more (is around $2614 per couple including taxes for Nov 6-13, 200. My sister got married at Gran Palladium in 2003 and it was very nice. They are also in a reasonable price range. This site will definitely help you. I also look at reviews on tripadvisor.com (take them with a grain of salt, some people are just complainers) to see what the comments are...plus they have more pics on there. Good luck with your planning.
  10. okay, not to hijack...but...where is everyone getting these new siggy things? I don't even know what to call them.
  11. Hi Shiv, Congrats and welcome to the forum. I'm an anglophile myself but it would not be practical to get married in the UK. I will have to wait and take FI to England in a few years. He hasn't been yet and I get antsy when too many years pass between UK visits.
  12. I was at a destination wedding ceremony in Riviera Maya and the ceremony was no different than a legal wedding ceremony. Witnesses signed a marriage certificate and none of the guests were the wiser. My FI and I decided (or I finally convinced him) that we will do the legal stuff here a week before we go.

  15. Where can you find the Band-Aid blister stick? We all had blisters in Mexico for my sister wedding. I swear I had a hole in my foot for a week.

  18. Hi all you newlyweds, Congratulations!! Anyone have any recent (within last year, I guess) reviews of weddings at Gran Bahia Principe Coba? Your help is appreciated, Carrie
  19. Welcome to the forum! We are getting married in Riviera Maya, Mexico. My sister had her wedding there in 2003 and it was great. A nice thing about Mexico is that you can venture away from your resort and do excursions. Some places you are encouraged to stay on your resort.
  20. Welcome to the forum. You'll find a lot of good info here.
