I will have to think about the idea of doing it when we come back home. I will have to discuss with FI and see what he thinks. Then my stepmom won't be all critical/crabby about stuff she shouldn't even care about because she will be seeing our first ceremony which will be the religious ceremony. I wanted to just go and get it done without having anybody there but when Dave talked to his mom she liked the idea so that her sisters could see us get married since they won't be able to go to Mexico. My parents probably will not come to the JP portion. Wonder if we need to be married prior to going to get the honeymoon specials or the religious ceremony there will count for enough?

Your puppy looks so sweet and totally adorable. Now you will spend all your time taking pics of him. You should just go buy a puppy book now to hold your photos.

We decided (aka I finally convinced him) to do a JP wedding here a few weeks before we go to Mexico just to save time, hassle and money. We are going to try and keep it low key since we want to sonsider our Mexico wedding our real one...I'll probably cry at both. I did get hassle from my stepmom (wtf) about it. She wanted to know why I didn't just save money and have the whole thing at home. That doesn't save me any money. Felt like telling her that she didn't have to come to the Mexico wedding. But I controlled it. So anyway...we are only telling immediate family and the only people who we really want there (unless they feel super strongly about missing it) are FI's aunts who can't come to the DW. I'm sure FI's mom will want to be there too. I just don't want a big fuss made over it. We'll see how it goes.

This thread is hilarious! So many crazy people out there (lots of crazy nurses). I agree with the kill her with kindness approach. It is much more fun to be passive aggressive anyhow!

The wedding coordinator sent me some attachments with flowers, pics of the gazebo site and menus. I will try to post those soon but not sure if I will have time over the holidays.

Check out the Barcelo properties and the Bahia Principe. I was going to choose Barcelo Maya Colonial Beach but it priced a bit higher than I wanted for next year. Bahia Principe gets tons of great reviews on TripAdvisor and is a little bit more affordable. My sister got married at Gran Palladium and it was beautiful. I am personally not a fan of Cancun....too touristy. Not that RM isn't touristy...just in a less crowded sort of way.

They are less expensive if you opt for the wedding package offered at the resort usually. There are lots of ways to spend more however with all those fun extras.

Welcome to the forum! I started planning mine before my engagement too! As soon as I was informed that all parties were okay with a destination wedding (aka FMIL is pretty traditional and FI is people pleaser), I was off to investigate. You will get tons of ideas here!

I haven't done an activies page yet...but plan on doing a newsletter (it links to webpage) in a few weeks with a bit about the different excursions and parks. Trying to spread out the newsletters to keep people excited and to not appear like a stalker.
