Oh and fi shouldn't have you handle it, it's his mom so that's his job. lol I don't mind doing it before if it can be done.. I am doing it to please her but you are right.. it might be best if I want to baptize my kids there also..

PM me if you have questions anytime! I don't mind pre-cana.. I'm going to get in touch with my church here.. maybe do it the week before I leave for Cancun.. So if I do it this way, anyone can do the symbolic ceremony right?

I go and meet real estate agents and tell them how I can help their clients get financed. It can be exhausting always trying to get business but after a year or two you will have a client base that send you referrals and then come to you again and again for everything. That's exactly what the loan officer said.. he's always networking and he gets a lot of referrals that way.. word of mouth

I think though that if your MIL wants a priest so much, she should at least offer to pay for the costs... LOL, if she's doing her own research I hope one day she doesn't randomly book a priest for you! thats what I'm scared of.. and of course FI tells me to handle her! lol She offered to pay for his services but I don't want (i know it sounds selfish) whatever money she's going to contribute to the wedding going to travel expenses of a priest.

I think its better to do it this way so that you don't have to fly someone out to Cancun. FMIL's can be a little pushy to say the least... Do churches do that.. like small ceremony just to have it recognized? I mean I probably wouldn't have anyone there except our immediate family.

Take this slow time to learn and then when it picks back up you will be rockin' and rollin' I have my fingers crossed for you! I bet you get it Thats what they told me and I don't mind that it's slow bc it does give me that time I need to learn. I'm really excited and ready for the challenge. I get along really well with my FMIL. She's a sweet lil lady. My FILs live in FL so they're not around much to bother us with anything. From the beginning, I had wanted a beach ceremony and we all know that priests don't do beach weddings. Although I love my Catholic religion, church was just not an option and I'm fine with it being an officiant. MY FMIL insists on having a priest. My FI & I joke that if we get the officiant to throw in the word "God" a few times, she'll be happy lol I specifically told her it'd be a minister of some sort..just not a priest. We've been battling this since we got engaged in August! Today I get this IM from my FMIL: FMIL (8:57:05 AM): Hi Jen, How are you? I'm taking care of a priest at this time. I found out that there are some diocese that do allow priests to perform wedding ceremonies on the beach or anywhere else. Some do not. Houston, TX does. But they all require that the couple go to pre-Cana sessions. Mine & Steve's were once a week for awhile. Just talking and a film with other couples to be married. The priest didn't have info on Mexico, but said to check with that diocese. ME (8:57:59 AM): will he fly into Cancun? ME (8:58:11 AM): do we have to pay for his flight & hotel? FMIL (9:11:51 AM): I would think so. FMIL (9:12:31 AM): What I was getting at was the diocese for the Cancun area. ME (9:17:18 AM): Ive done research on this and priests will not perform any kind of ceremony in mexico outside of the catholic church or chapel..especially no beaches. What if we talk to a priest here, do a church wedding here right before we go to cancun? I'm sure in the winter months they're not as busy. FMIL (9:19:09 AM): Whatever you decide, it will be beautiful. That is a great idea. She's doing this research that I didn't ask for.. I don't want to pay for anyone to fly down EXCEPT my photog. It's just an added expensive that I don't need when there's plenty of officiants that can do the job! Has anyone gotten married through the church BEFORE your DW?

I think it will be neat. Weddingmoon! We plan on going to Europe later this year, just us two. you are doing what I'm doing Sticking around with fam and Europe later in the year! -

I loved learning this business. I must tell you though that I work off of commission. As mentioned before there isn't a whole lot going on good in the mortgage business right now because of all of the foreclosures. When the economy is good the mortgage business is good and you can make great money. It's a feast or fathom business. There are some positions though, for instance a mortgage loan processor makes a steady salary. Anyways, I love the mortgage field and I reccomend it to anyone that likes numbers, loves to help people accomplish their dreams (own their own home) and likes to be their own boss oh cool!! If I get the job I might lean on you for some guidance then This company is only in NJ, NY, & FL. They want to be small and not grow nationally.

ok I'm back! It went well!! I really hope I get the job. I was there for an hour! Met with the recruiter then he had me sit down with a loan officer to tell me about his job. They said there's two sides I can do - financial or sales. I hate selling so I might go for the banking. Unfortunately there's no base salary but once I get started, I get commission even when training with the bankers. The loan officer told me he made $100K in his first year.. I don't see that happening for me with this economy but it's a nice goal right? They said that my fluent Portuguese & Spanish really will help me bc they don't have anyone that speaks another language there. By Monday I should know if they want me back for a second interview with the partners of the company. And get this.. my commute.... 3 minutes!!! I make a left off my street and it's on that road hehehe It's less than a mile away from my house!

and I'm so nervous I could throw up! I've been applying jobs for a while now and finally I got a call back. It's to be a loan officer/mortgage broker. I want to be confident but I don't know shit about this field lol I really only applied bc It's so close to my house (literally up the street). It did say they'll train if you don't have experience. I just really need a steady income. As much as I love skin care, this economy is beating my ass. I need to do something until people start spending money again. Wish me luck ~
