But, now our guest count has doubled so I'm not too sure what we are going to do for the reception. I know we will have to pay more to have a private dinner and we don't mind. I would love to have the reception at the terrace's steak house. I haven't spoke with anyone at the hotel because I was told I would be contacted by the wedding planners two months prior to the wedding. I would love to have an idea though on what the reception plans are because I'm a little nervous! Thanks for the pics and the ideas about the gazebo and cocktail hour! By the way, do you have a photographer yet? No photographer yet.. that's my next step. lol I'm still shopping around

  3. Now it's exactly 1 year from my wedding.. ahhhhh
  4. I'm an esthetician and actually give bikini waxes.. yes, I inflict massive amounts of pain (on the other hand, I also give facials which I relax people hehe) and the best thing is taking an advil or two. Let your hairs grow - don't worry about them being too long bc being too short is much worse. Wear and old pair of underwear that you don't care about just in case she gets wax on it. Yes it will hurt but it's not THAT bad. Brazilians are much worse hahahaha You might bleed a little during the waxing but its normal since the hair is being pulled from the root. Also, you will be red and a lil bumpy. Put neosporin afterwards when you get home, it'll help in bringing down the redness. The next day it'll feel like a baby's butt hehe
  5. I went on a site visit there about a month ago. I loved the place but the reception isn't private. Don't know if you knew that.. it was the reason why I didn't book it there. You'd have to have your reception in one of their restaurants and eat along with the other hotel guests. If you want something private afterwards, you'd have to rent the club next door at the Riu Cancun. Kind of a hassle. Gorgeous place nonetheless. Have you talked to Carolina? She was very helpful and nice so you'll enjoy speaking with her. Have you done a site visit? If you have any other questions let me know. I'll try to help. Here's some pics I took-- One of the restaurants for the reception: The gazebo by the pool you can have your ceremony in: A hallway outside, I believe you can set up for cocktail hour in this section: The beach ceremony will be here, a lil further up ahead. I was very disappointed bc part of the beach is gone, and I had to walk over sand bags to see the location. The water was actually coming up to my feet so imagine walking like that on your wedding day with your nice white dress on:

Mine is clear so that all the colors of the rainbow shines through. Oh and one other thing, they also come in different sizes. I got mine in 40MM which is the biggest I've found and it looks really nice when I put it up to my chest.
  7. eBay Store - BEADAHOLIQUE: swarovski crystal, beads beading, czech seed beads Thats the seller there! It's Beadaholique. I believe they have a website as well.
  8. I saw this pendant recently on my trip to Cancun and didn't buy it bc the sales guy was asking for a lot for 8 and I couldn't haggle my way down. Well, I finally got my pendants! They're GORGEOUS and simple. I got them on Ebay for $10 each and even though they claim they're Swarovski, I don't really care if they're knockoffs. They shine in the light like a rainbow!
  9. If you get sea sick, the best thing to take is Ginger.. anything with ginger. I took a cruise around Hawaii and those Pacific waves got the best of me. I was told to find ginger candy and boy did it help!!! I was amazed! Thank god bc the Dramamine was knocking me out every night earlier than I wanted lol Also, drink smuggling is the way to go. If you can get a cruise that offers the soda package, definitely get it. Then if you get a bottle or 2 or rum in a duty free in your first port of call, you can have mixed drinks every night without paying for it.
  10. It was Negril.. they got the lazy river suite.. soooooooooo nice!
  11. I saw it in person.. its stunning but you have to feel comfortable with it
  12. Welcome to the forums!
  13. Thats great that you got it all figured out. I had a problem with the Marriott Casamagna in Cancun. Went on a site visit, everything seemed wonderful.. told the WC our date and she didn't give us a problem about it. As soon as we get back home and email her to confirm we want it, she told us that nothing is available from Jan-March of '09 because of big conventions. NOT COOL. Something that could've been told to me a week prior when I was there. I guess that the Marriott is very "business" involved and it comes first before any weddings.
  14. What I did when I went on my site visits was I stayed at cheaper hotel to save money. Then we walked up and down the Cancun strip with a book from Liberty Travel with all of the hotels. If they were AI or if it looked really nice we stopped. If there is one that you absolutely want to see, I'd make an appointment just to be on the safe side. Even though we didn't need appointments for most of the resorts, there were maybe 2 resorts where the WCs were too busy to see us and we had to come back a few days later.
