St Lucia vs. Antigua vs. Negril,Jamaica
JenniferSS replied to aj_may2011's topic in The Islands Weddings
Thanks Maureen- I was thinking of the Grand lido befire it became the Breezes! Adult only properties do not allow children to stay- then it wouldn't be an adult only resort! -
St Lucia vs. Antigua vs. Negril,Jamaica
JenniferSS replied to aj_may2011's topic in The Islands Weddings
For the three locations that you are looking at Sandals really does fit the bill for what you stated are your requirements. Personally I would have recommend St. Lucia or Jamaica as flights are very limited for Antigua. Although flights to St. Lucia can be pricey and somewhat limited- just overall better especially since JetBlue entered the market! In St. Lucia Sandals Regency La Toc would be the best fit! In Jamaica we'd have to talk more about additional needs as there are many differences between the properties and what is available for activities in each town! Many of the other adult only all inclusives tend to be low key and quieter ( although be careful as Sandals has many quiet resorts also!) Antigua Sandals is the only adult only AI - Jamaica there are a couple but they are very laid back & quiet ( and tend to be more expensive than Sandals) and in Jamaica - Couples, Breezes -16 and up are the only ones i can think off off the top of my head. -

You may want to try to stay for the honeymoon portion at one of the private suites such as a rondaval at sandals Grande st. Lucian -you'll have everything that you need -pool, hot tub, room service and lots orf privacy right at your finger tips! Or even one of the suites on the bluff at Sandals Regency La Toc - they are fairly private and set apart from the main area! Plus with moving to a seperate resort or a different room category it signals to your guests that you are now "honeymooning"!

Resorts not replying in a timely manner
JenniferSS replied to jenevan's topic in Just venting or funnies
We hear this from many, many brides! January tends to be the busiest for requests and just like you there are thousands of potentila destination wedding brides that are shooting off emails for information to multiple resorts! Add to that the many requests for pricing and questions from the brides who are already booked and then the final planning for brides who are getting married within the next two months and you'll get a grasp of why it's taking so long to get a response! The resorts do respond much faster to TA's that they are familiar with as they know that we have qualified the bride and advised them of the best resort for their needs and it is likely not a random request for information. I know your excited but with a destination wedding patience is really the key! -

We’re pleased to announce that the military discount is now also available to Military Veterans as well. Unlike other military personnel (active and/or spouse, retired, Reserves, National Guard, and D.O.D. (Department of Defense)) who will present their Military ID card as proof, a Veteran will present their military discharge papers, known as their DD214.

Tripadvisor unfortunately is also used by rival companies! They place negative reviews about their competition in order to bump their own standing ! We've aso seen some properties that will provide incentives for people to place glowing reviews! if you find that the majority of reviews over the last few months are consistent and that there are just a few negatives I wouldn't worry. If you see a consistent flow of negative reviews from people who have made previously posted reviews of other properties from around the world then I would become concerned. But read those other reviews and see if the properties are even similiar. Ssometiems you'll see someone who always stayed at aRitz carlton stay at a 4 star AI and be very disappointed- well the properties really won't compare - that's why the Ritz's are so much more expensive! Or you may find someone who is never ever satisfied no matter where they go! Quote: Originally Posted by bholthof I periodically check TripAdvisor to make sure my resort is still getting good reviews - call me paranoid, but essentially, everyone who is going to this wedding is going to either love it or hate it. Isn't there enough pressure on us brides WITHOUT having to stress about if anyone is going to even LIKE the place?? Anyway, I just checked the most recent reviews on TripAdvisor. Of course, the two most recent are TERRIBLE! The ones before that are good reviews, and overall the resort gets good reviews - but I just can't help but think "what if everyone hates it and has a terrible time??" Plus, I know we are going to Cuba - and that Cuba doesn't necessarily have the same standards as Mexican or even Dominican resorts, particularly when it comes to food. Yes, it is rated as a 4.5* resort - but AHHH!!! I'm still stressing. And most of my family is soooo easy going that I doubt there will be a problem - but when reviews say things like "the staff was terrible, which is weird because we were always polite" really, really scares me. And I have NO idea how FI's family is going to react!! I can't change my resort - nor do I want to, really - but OMG it absolutely TERRIFIES me!! Today is exactly 100 days to the wedding. I'm freaking out a little. Thanks for letting me vent.

Montego Bay to St Lucia
JenniferSS replied to JennLizFran's topic in Sandals, Beaches, and Royal Plantation Resorts Weddings
Not available any longer on her dates without an overnight! The schedule was changed since she original booked the stay! The other alternative that gets her in the same day is the MBj- MIA- SJU-SLU but it is a LONG day of travel with two layovers. AJ, Caribbean Star/Sun and Liat used to do interisland between MBJ & SLU but don't offer them anymore. There were a few other smaller airlines but they look like they're out of business-websites are down-parked. No ferries- it's open ocean and would take all day-possibly two. Lots of ocean to cover. Waiting to hear back on a few private plane transfers but likely looking at $2000.00 on up for the transfer- it'd be about a two-2.5 hr plane ride on the smaller planes . It would be waaayyyy cool though! Quote: Originally Posted by TA Maureen AA through Miami, 1 stop. It won't be that cheap though. Photographer for Sandals wedding
JenniferSS replied to JennLizFran's topic in Destination Wedding Vendors
Actually the policy has been changed - if the photographer is a paying guest staying at the wedding resort for the minumum nights then they are welcomed and can take as many pics as tehy would like without having any stress or sneaking around! -
That's a great time- especially coming from teh snowy and cold north! keep in mind though that the holidays are also the MOST expensive time of year to travel and to make sure that everyone books very early to get the best rates and to be sure they get a room! Many places sold out quite early this year - and that was in a bad economy!
