Royal Playa del Carmen Review - A&K
JenniferSS replied to allison&kevin's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
For the wedding- guest can arrive about 15 minutes prior-whether from a different resort or the Gran Porto. I highly encourage you to have a list of non resort guests and provide it to the WC. If the guests would like to come over earlier or on a different day there is a cost. From Angie" If someone is coming over for the wedding real guest from another Real resort or a guest another resort entirely they do not need a pass to come to the wedding. To come over to The Royal for any other reason, from any place, for the day or evening the rates will be as I have given you." -

That seems insane to me. We have one family of 5 people and you mean to tell me it will cost them $400 to get to the airport and back? That seems CRAZY!! We have people coming in different days and times - I wonder if I should just tell everyone to get a taxi, that it's much cheaper? What are you guys all doing? My quotes always include the transfers and I am not familiar with any suppliers that a TA would use that don't automatically include them- I would have your TA double check. For your family of 5 I would have your TA look into a private car transfer- it'll be far less than the 400.00!

Sandals discounts!
JenniferSS replied to JenniferSS's topic in Sandals, Beaches, and Royal Plantation Resorts Weddings
I believe so- if you book in 2010. -
The Royal is extremely popular and we are hearing that many weekends are sold out or close it it this spring- I do have to note that our suppliers(for TA Jennifer & TA Jill) have a guaranteed no bump policy! Please note that the online agencies do not have the same policy so please warn your guests that it could be a possibility- and it is likely if the resort is oversold that the guest will be responsible for transportation and also a day pass fee ( it is the online agencies that are overselling their allotted inventory-not the resort -therefor the resort is not responsible!!) Just a heads up on this!

Sandals Whitehouse
JenniferSS replied to Niedertobe's topic in Sandals, Beaches, and Royal Plantation Resorts Weddings
Royal Planatation is very upscale-it also has an amazing villa on property that you can stay at. I loved it when I was there in the fall. I am actually going to Sandals Emerald Bay in a couple of weeks so I can report back on that property although from all that I have seen and read it will also be very upscale. What you really need to do is work with a Sandals specialist to find the perfect one for what you are looking for. Each one offers such different ambiances. -

If so they may be able to assist-but it depends on how the 10 rooms are booked!

There's a saying "How much money do you need to save to make a bad vacation worthwhile ? "or "If something looks to good to be true-it usually is!" Or something along those lines- but really with a destination wedding how much would you have to save to make it worth taking the chance that something will go wrong like not having your room when you arrive ? Or your parents, bridesmaids not having a room ect I know it sounds tempting but there is so much at stake to take the chance- of course I am not a betting person ! Hi beachbride83! Unfortunately, they do not have you reserve the locations ahead of time- generally this is not a problem as there is only one wedding scheduled per hour ! So it's pretty open to each bride. One of the reasons they do not pre -reserve locations for receptions is so that they can accommodate larger groups- with a destination wedding you will find some groups end up quite a bit smaller than anticipated while others end up quite a bit larger than anticipated- but there ois no way to really tell until about a month before the wedding-because there are always those last minute peopel who book!! There are limited areas for large groups ( say 50-150 ppl) so Sandals has to be sure to keep those open to accommodate them!

Newbie: Wants to do Sandals Jamaica & I don't know how?
JenniferSS replied to chinkyi23's topic in Newbies!!
You can easily do that budget- to do a two hr reception with dinner for 50 ppl it would be 2500- then adding in music and a photographer -depending on what you chose it can be about 5000 or less. You can either use the island beauty or purchase the Martha Stewart decorations! Then the only other cost you would have is the room! as the last poster said the beach at Sandals Grande Ocho rios is definately the smallest out of all the Sandals resorts- so if you are looking for a beach wedding you may want to consider a different Sandals property! Plus each one has a different ambiance-some are very quiet -others more active! Quote: Originally Posted by chinkyi23 Thanks everyone. SOOO frustrated with my resort right now!
JenniferSS replied to DWbridetobe's topic in Just venting or funnies
If it's the same as the US wedding package then for the 30 minute reception it's 15.00 for cake, champagne and appetizers. For an extra 30 minutes its 25.00 per person-total 1 hr. keep in mind you'll have to supply your own music as that is not included for the reception. Most brides that are on a budget will extend it to the hr reception- do everything in that time frame ( first dance, father daughter and cutting the cake) and then meet the guest at one of the bars for drinks and to continue the party! -

Hi AnnMarie! Yes, for children to attend the reception it does have to be indoors- the wedding however can be outside! Many of my clients do a split stay-they will get married at a Beaches and then honeymoon at Sandals- that way they can have children easily attent the wedding and reception but still have the Sandals adult nly enviroment for their honeymoon! I can easily set this up and you would only have to pay one deposit instead of 2! -

Welcome AnnMarie! sandals will allow children the the wedding with manager approval and if you do a private -indoor reception they can stay for that also! However permission does need to be secured and there are additional costs fo rteh indoor private reception! Beaches Turks & Caicos is amazing ! I've bben three times in 2009 and each time it just keeps getting better. I found that the Italian vilage is very bust with children so I would recommend to stay in the Caribbean Village- close to the water or the French Village - very quiet back from the water ! The resort has so much for the kids to do though that you don't feel overwhelmed by them at all! Quote: Originally Posted by AnnMarie Hi everyone! Am I correct in saying that the Sandals resorts do not allow children? That's the only reason why I was looking at Beaches, but at the same time I don't want to be in a resort that is overrun with children. I do like the MS themes, but I don't understand why there are going to be pp charges in an all-inclusive resort. Does anyone have any suggestions or information that may sway me one way or the other? Can anyone share their wedding experiences at the above mentioned resorts? I've been looking through the threads but haven't come across anything specific. Any help would be awesome! TIA -AnnMarie
