  1. Welcome to the forum! I'd recommend the Iberostar Parasio Lindo! for the family, there is plenty for the kids to do and you can stay just down the beach at the adults only Iberostar Grand Hotel! Best of both worlds and the IGH is getting amazing reviews! If you have any questions about the properties feel free to pm me! TA Jennifer
  2. Hello & Welcome ! I'm from Michigan also- just a tad south of Grand Rapids! TA Jennifer
  3. I'm so glad that you all like the review! JamiacaBride- you'll really enjoy Swept Away- it's so laid back and just a beautiful property! TA Jennifer
  4. Hello & Welcome to the forum! Warmest Regards- TA Jennifer
  5. I really have to reiterate about what Dina said- do not take expensive jewelry with you! Even if you have insurance why would you want to chance it? Theft happens everywhere unfortunately and if you bring items of great value into a poor country you are tempting fate. I do feel really bad for that poor girl but no matter where you travel you must always use common sense and realize that you are a guest in their country and subject to their legal system which ususlly runs quite a bit differently than ours! TA Jennifer
  6. Fantastic spreadsheetand a great job on the reviews- same vibe I get from those resorts! Thanks for sharing! TA Jennifer

Welcome! If you have any questions feel free to ask away ( it'll also help with that NOOB status!!) Jamaica, Cancun, Cabo & Puerto Vallarta have really good nightlife. St. Lucia has some great day trips! If your guests won't be there a full week you won't need a location that is so chock full of activities as you'll also want time to visit! If you need any help feel free to pm me! Ta Jennifer
  9. Welcome! You'll love the forum- everyone hear is incredibly nice & helpful! Ta Jennifer
  10. I'm a travel agent and if I was doing a destination wedding I would still use a TA ! It'll provide all of your guests a point of contact, someone to ask questions of (instead of calling and emailing you all of the time!), someone to assist if there are any hiccups in travel ( do you want someone calling you at the resort asking for your assistance or complaining if something isn't quite right?). The TA takes care of all of those items & more! It's not always in the guests or the bride & grooms best interest to do a room block. And quite honestly it's more work for the TA to take care of everyone as a seperate reservation as opposed to a group! Have fun planning! TA Jennifer
  11. Have your travel agent contact the GM of the resort, explain the situation and ask for special permission. I've heard of this happening before and EDR being ok with it. TA Jennifer
  12. Mid - End of October is better price wise for 2008 and if you have to do 2009 I'd wait till the beg. of May. That's the best time price wise for Beaches T & C! My pleasure! TA Jennifer
  13. The Beaches resort there is really nice! If you have really toddlers I'd stay in the older section as it is closer to everything and not as much walking. With older kids I'd stay in the newer side as it's a touch nicer! TA Jennifer
  14. Another great promo! Sandals Royal Bahamian- Suite of the month! Royal village Honeymoon Villa Suite - 7 nights $4674 Normal price $10,388! Between the Suite of the month special ~stay 6 nights get the 7th free and the up to 50% off you'll save over $5500.00!
  15. Hello & Welcome! I didn't get married there but I work with Sandals resorts a lot, so if you need any assistance feel free to PM me! They are currently having a big sale with the SGOR being 50% off! Be careful with the room categoriess there, some are in need of a rennovation! Have fun planning! TA Jennifer
  16. ooohhh one of my favorites also! I'd probably do a group with this one as opposed to booking individual reservations because the property is small to mid sized and gets booked rather quickly.Word is getting out about how nice it is! If you need any help with it feel free to pm me! TA Jennifer
  17. I have to agree that all of those all inclusives are great for various reasons and I've recommended each to to various clients, however not one of those would I recommend to every client! Each client envisions something a little different for their get away! Example- if you are looking for an all inclusive with a phenomenal beach Royal Hideaway will disappoint. If you want to be close to shopping and alot of cultural activities Couples Negril just wouldn't cut it! As I said these are all great all inclusives but always make sure that the resort fits your vacation style- not what someone else likes! TA Jennifer
  18. What a precious little guy! Congrats! I'm glad that everything went well and as a bonus he's a tax deduction for 2007! TA Jennifer
  19. Welcome! I was just in Negril a few weeks ago-wish I was still there , we received about 6 inches of lake effect snow last night-YUk!! Seven mile beach is beautiful- check out the Sandals & Couples thread for some pics! If you get a chance to answer thefollowing questions we'll be able to provide great ideas on locations that fit what you want! Do you plan on having children or adults only ? Prefer all inclusive? What kind of budget would you feel comfortable with for your guests? For how long? Are your guests the quieter type or is nightlife and activities important? Are you looking for a beach wedding or a garden gazebo or cliff side? If you feel more comfortable pm'ing me the answers or feel free to answer here and I can make some suggestions ! TA Jennifer

  22. Welcome! Which part of Mexico- Pacific or Caribbean? Depending on what you envision and how many guests- a May wedding may be perfectly do-able! Especially with all of the help from the forum! If you have any questions please ask as the ladies here are awesome & a wealth of knowledge! TA Jennifer
  23. Hello MoWife! The Jamaica Tousism Board set up the appoinments and shuttled me around Negril, plus I did my day pass with my Sandals rep so I didn't need to present my IATA card. However I have great relationships with both entities and they know me well. In general, Sandals and many of the other suppliers are becoming quite a bit more strict regarding who they are allowing day passess and fam trips to, as their are quite a few scam's out there that promise the benefits of being a TA without being knowledgable nor liable. The old adage of " if it sounds too good to be true it probably is" rings very true with the scams! TA Jennifer
  24. Welcome & have fun planning! Both islands are amazing- you can't go wrong with either choice! DR is fantastic if you want to stay within the resort and Jamaica if you want activities outside of the resort! TA Jennifer
  25. More about the rooms- In a separate building, luxury rooms showcase balconies facing the garden. Rooms on the beach draw top dollar and provide either patios or balconies. Villa suites are all beachfront and feature wet bars, stocked minibars, four-poster beds surrounded by surprisingly romantic mosquito nets, large marble baths, robes and spiral staircases to sleeping lofts. Some units are a long walk from the central areas, but these offer extra privacy. All concierge rooms and suites enjoy round-the-clock room service, and honeymoon suites provide personal butlers. Keep in mind that this resort is not a top notch luxury facility- it is however a great value when you add in all of the inclusions (water sports galore including water skiiing and tubing), fantastic food, great staff and the unbelievable beach front! If you are looking for luxury, the newest rooms- the Sundowner River Suites will have you thinking that you died and went to heaven! The Swim up suites provide direct access to the lazy river and is literally just a few strokes from the beach! The rooms themselves are large, still have that new room smell and feature a large roman tub. The furnishings are Caribbean chic with island woods, the 4 poster king size bed that you’ll probably never want to get out of and a fully stocked wet bar. The Butlers for these suites get fabulous reviews and truly try to make a guests stay amazing! I love the beach in Negril! The water is amazingly clear and warm and the sand is like powder! The beach at Sandals Negril is located far enough from the town of Negril that it had fewer vendors than Couples Swept Away walking through trying to sell their wares. The vendors have to stay near the water so they are easy enough to ignore if you’d like. A couple of notes about the beach- towards the water sports area the beach is narrow but has quite a bit more shade so it tends to get a bit more crowded. Also If you book a Butler category suite your Butler will reserve your chairs, with umbrellas and float mats! This is a great perk as there are many folks that will get up early to reserve the chairs in the shade with a towel or book and not come back for hours!Honestly, this practice is beyond me- why lay on the beach if your staying in the shade? When I was done with the sun I’d go back to my air conditioned room to read or go to a bar and hang out! No flaming please –just my opinion! Anyways, the beach widens considerably after you pass the beach grill and there is a long expanse but little shade. Back towards the buildings and walkway there are palms and the elusive shade! Also down on this end, and in the shade, are the wedding gazebos!
