Sandals Emerald Bay

SANDALS EMERALD BAY, GREAT EXUMA, BAHAMAS: HOME TO CELEBRATED GREG NORMAN-DESIGNED OCEANSIDE GOLF COURSE OFFERING DRAMATIC VIEWS FROM FAIRWAY TO GREEN GREAT EXUMA, BAHAMAS – While Great Exuma offers some of the finest diving, fishing and yachting in the world, the land sport of choice is golf. Sandals Emerald Bay, Great Exuma, Bahamas, the 14th and newest Luxury Included® resort in the Sandals Resorts portfolio, features a Greg Norman-designed, 7,200-yard, par 72 championship golf course that rivals any oceanside course in the world. Norman, a native Australian and avid diver and boater himself, immediately saw the potential of the site and created not one, but six signature holes hugging the perimeter of Emerald Bay’s scenic peninsula. “I have never seen a golf course offer such dramatic vistas at every turn,†states Sandals Resorts chairman and founder Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart. “Greg Norman did a masterful job of carefully crafting a natural golf course design that utilizes the land’s attributes. It looks like nature crafted the course right from the sea.†With fairways lining the ocean and prevailing southeastern tradewinds, the golf course at Sandals Emerald Bay provides a challenging experience for novice and professional golfers alike. Its first 10 holes wind through a mix of seaside dunes and mangrove preserves while holes 11 through 18 play along the rocky peninsula offering unparalleled views along the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. Native vegetation dots the course throughout, including sea grapes, silver buttonwood, sand fly bush and cabbage palms. Ground cover includes crimson-hued sea parsley and indigenous grasses. Listed below are descriptions for three signature holes: •Hole Number 11; Par 3, 150 yards – The first of the peninsula holes, this short par 3 plays into the prevailing wind. The Emerald Bay and a single bunker on the left of the green guard the hole on the right. •Hole Number 14; Par 4, 353 yards – This short par 4 plays over the waves and rocks to an elevated landing area. The shot in is a forced carry over more rock and vegetation down to a moderate sized green that has water on the left and back. •Hole Number 15; Par 5, 533 yards – The first landing area is guarded on the right by a waste bunker and on the left by waves and rocks. The second shot leaves the option of trying to reach the green in two over the Emerald Bay or the safer route by laying up on the second landing area. The green sits lightly left to right and is guarded on the right by à large bunker and on the left by water. Sandals Goes Green in Keeping Greens Lush Sandals Emerald Bay has adopted an eco-friendly approach to maintaining its golf course. The course itself features seashore paspalum, a strain of grass developed by noted University of Georgia agronomist Dr. R.R. “Ronny†Duncan. This grass has the feel of hybrid Bermuda but offers many additional benefits including salt water irrigation and the reduced need for fertilizers and herbicides. Emerald Bay’s state-of-the-art water treatment plant produces a mix of ocean water and gray water that keep the fairways and greens lush. The golf course at Sandals Emerald Bay also features a well-kept practice area and club house, complete with food & beverage offerings, instruction and club rental. *Greens fees are at an additional cost. About Greg Norman Golf Course Design As a touring professional, Greg Norman was one of the most prolific international players in the games history. In addition to being the number one ranked player for 331 consecutive weeks, Greg Norman maintained active membership of the US, European and Australian Tours. Norman's experience in playing many of the world's great golf courses over the span of his 25-year career served as a catalyst to develop his interest in golf course design. First established in 1987, Greg Norman Golf Course Design has completed more than 70 golf courses on six continents. Norman's golf courses have garnered numerous prestigious awards for design, with many of the projects being awarded the coveted Audubon Society Award for environmental stewardship. Norman designed golf courses have hosted sanctioned events on the PGA, Nationwide, European, and Australasian Tours. -

My best advice is to work with a travel agent- (TA Jill from the forum specializes in Mexico) definately find one that specializes in destination weddings as it is completely different than booking a typical vacation. Each of those properties are great but very different in terms of wedding programs, pool/beach areas, amenities and ease of working with the wedding department. I also do not put a lot of stock into the apple rating system- typically the resorts that they have preferred status with ( or they negotiated higher commission levels) get higher apple ratings than other equally good, if noit better properties! Don't get me wrong- we've sold Apple Vactions quite a bit, it's tha rating system that is not quite ........accurate. Good luck ! Two quick things. I don't really want to spend 7,000 on a wedding package and I'm keeping my guests in mind. I don't want their stay to exceed 2,500 dollars (per couple) if possible. Here are my 7 picks: (I wish I had 2 or 3- this is why I need all of you) Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa (Apple rating: 6 red) Cancun Hacienda Tres Rios (6 red) Cancun Barcelo Maya Palace (5+ gold) Dreams Puerto Adventuras (6 gold-didn't look as nice as Dreams Tulum-went to Tulum last winter for a wedding) Adventura Cove Palace (6 red) Cancun Grand Velas All Suites and Spa Resort (6 red) Cancun Azul Sensatori (can't remember apple rating) Thanks for your help!

Tying on another woman's engagement ring?
JenniferSS replied to Shommy128's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I guess I never even thought of it and had assumed that people had tried it on in the store before it was even purchased for me. I guess for me it wasn't "really" mine till he proposed and placed it on my finger, THEN it was mine ! -
Nope- no tipping excpt if you have a butler! It is a resort where you want your TA to be familiar with the room categories- there are some that need refurbishment ( Sandals is working on it) or have lousy placement- those are the guests that write the bad reviews as they are unhappy with their accommodations!
-
Choosing your resort can be the hardest decision for a destination wedding bride or a couple looking to honeymoon! There are so many choices and each offer such different packages, inclusions and extras. Sometimes you have a few questions but it's hard to get a hold of the wedding coordinator. You can't do a site visit but would like to see photo's of the property. If any of those apply to you please join us on one of our monthly Destination Wedding- Honeymoon webinars. Each month the BDW TA's will feature a different resort. Look here for updates and schedules!

I was just there in August visiting with the GM and checking out the wedding areas, reception areas and rooms! Beautiful gardens to have pics done in as well as on the beach! There are a lot of different places to have a wedding and also the reception! It's a great beach property very active ! There are some rooms that are set away from the active areas so if your, guests prefer a bit quieter have your TA find out which rooms those are! They just completely refinished the pool there- from the pics I've seen it looks great!

Glad to see that you are still exploring St. Lucia! It's an amazing island! As we discussed all 3 Sandals properties are definately different in terms of atmosphere and beach, when we spoke I let you know that the Grande fit what you wanted in terms of rooms, atmosphere and beach/pool. The Sandals Grande St. Lucian has a definately more romantic but active vibe. When we explored the option of the Regency the rooms along the beachside were not what you wanted ( just too noisy- definate high action, party area) and going up the hill to the bluff the rooms were either not unobstructed ocean view and/or rennovated and the Butler level on the bluff was more than you needed/wanted. I am sorry that you missed the stay at one Sandals, Play at all three -we had discussed that in length- including the shuttle schedule. There was a lot of information to take in with one phone conversation and we talked for over an hr !! Have fun on your search and I hope you find a St. Lucia property that makes you happy!

Contact TA Dina on the forum- she's not in Boston but has extensive experience and the needed contacts for Hawaii destination weddings! She travels to the islands- particularly Oahu a coouple of times a year! You can use the banner on the top to contact her! Definately call your travel agent !! Your TA should be able to get the wedding coordinator to get back to you immediately- generally the most I've ever had to wait for a Sandals WC to get back to me is one day and that is usually when we are requesting something a bit different that they have to check on!

Here's the pricing that I just recieved- hopefully I will know more later today! It may be a jealousy or dominance thing- it is so gross but I have to say it made me laugh that the bull dog keeps poo'ing on the little one!

Last call for the webinar- we only have two people signed up - if we do not have 10 signed up by Tuesday I will have to cancel. So if you are interested or know someone who may be ( even if it's for a honeymoon or a vacation) please get the information out there! This is open to everyone not just BDW members! The presentation will be on all of the Excellence properties and also La Amada in Playa Mujures! There will be a wedding coordinator on hand to answer DW realted questions. Sorry about the pot above with so many typo's- I should know better than to post late at night! LOL
-
Quite honestly the girls here are correct- many of the guests wait until just a few months before the wedding to book. I have it happen all of the time to my brides! I even had a groomsman book 5 days before the wedding ! I feel for all of you because you worry so much about the cost- getting prices all of the time to share with the guests and then the guests book when they are good & ready to!

Sandals Bahamas
JenniferSS replied to md2002's topic in Sandals, Beaches, and Royal Plantation Resorts Weddings
Join us on October 8th for the sandals webinar- at the webinar we will go through each of the Sandals resorts and also the islands that they are on! To answer your questions-many peopel love the Bahamas, but it really depends on what the two of you like to do for activities. If you are water sports & casino type of people you will be thrilled with the Bahamas. If you like a variety of activities such as hiking, swim with dolphins, ziplines ect you may want to look at another island such as Jamaica, St Lucia ect! Quote: Originally Posted by md2002 Hello all - I am new here and posted this in another forum but was sent here. I have to admit I have used forums before but I am very confused with this one. I'm not sure where to post what. We are doing a destination wedding and we are thinking Bahamas ( Sandals ) my fiancee has been told that it is boring at the Bahamas and there is nothing to do but go to the beach. Any thoughts on this? The other option was Jamaica, which my fiancee thinks would be more fun. Are the Bahama's boring? -
Beaches Negril Brides - Post here!!
JenniferSS replied to 2bebridejamaica's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
Actually Amber is the Miami coordinator for Beaches Negril only! However that still is a huge responsibility ad Beaches Negril tends to be the most popular Beaches destination wedding resort ( although Beaches Turks & Caicos is close!) Because with Beaches you can book almost 2 years out- you figure if she averages just 3 weddings every day for those two years that's over 2,136 brides she is working with at any one time! Sorry -you just could not pay me enough! That's an amazing workload! QUOTE=sherric80;948056]When I talk with Amber I have a list of questions ready since she is so difficult to actually speak with. Last time we spoke I had over 50 questions & she answered each one. I have noticed that the closer to my wedding it gets the quicker she responds. She is the WC for all Jamaica brides so that is 4 or 5 resorts with an average of 4 weddings per day at each! I get really frustrated sometimes, but then I try to step back & realize that there are hundred's of other brides trying to reach her as well. She is actually very nice & helpful when you reach her. Setting up a time is the easiest way to reach her. Also, if you just call the wedding department a lot of your questions can be answered by the other staff. -
You are very welcome! I hate to discourage anyone- especially as this is an industry that really does need new blood and great TA's but it is a tough place to be! It's a job that most will either love or hate!
