Now it makes sense !! Just didn't want you tpo pay more than you had to!! This is for the deluxe honeymoon rooms (if that the right name? the cheaper ones). He (and everyone else) is already booked in (thank goodness with all of the sold out rooms!!)... I really hope that they can get it worked out for you! Fingers crossed! I'm so disappointed, but TA Jennifer you're right we'd freak if we had to pay even more, but prices went down tons and we still have to pay the higher rate. Anyway, I've emailed my TA and we'll see what she says when she gets back to me in a couple days, probably just "too bad so sad" in nicer words we weren't offered insurance for if the trip goes down, must be a US thing? lucky bums! lol

Would you sneak in a photographer?
JenniferSS replied to eec129's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Really no need to sneak the photog in- they've loosened the policy and allow photogs to come onboard as long as they stay at the resort! I have permission from the wedding department manager for my brides! -
I took a peek because normally Sandals/ Beaches will not apply any promotions to a 2 night stay-full rack rate, but the sale/promo prices will apply to a 3 night stay, so the 3 night stay has always been less expensive. At this time the 2 nights in a Grand lux Beachfront ( the lower room cats were sold out except for the one just below this category) is $ 2416/ 3 nights is $ 2355.60 The only thing I can think of is that he booked the 3 nights between promotions so that the he paid full rack - he may want to take a look and see if he can get it for less, especially if you are footing the bill!! That's why I posted the info! I think it works both ways as the Canadians probably don't the differences with US suppliers/ tour ops either- but of course why would anyone know what the differences are if you live in a different country! It seems like it should be the same for us & our northern neighbors but it's really quite different- the pricing and policies with the tour operators/suppliers for the two countries! The only reason I brought it up is I see alot or brides that get upset when they are going to the same resort and start compating policies and prices not realizing that the difference comes from basically what country you live in! who needs any additional stress when planning your DW!? There is one Mexico hotel chain in particular that started sending me their Candian offers and promotions- let's just say the Canadians have it faaarrrr better than we do with that particular chain-especially for weddings! I was pretty suprised! It's one of the reasons I love working with Sandals/Beaches - the policies and pricing is teh same on both sides of the border and they are extremely fair about adjusting rates to reflect price drops!! I actually have an enturely different destination wedding contract for Sandals & Beaches DW's than for other resorts because the policies are so different!
-
Ladies- this is again the difference between canadian brides/ travel companies and USA travel companies. Please look at where the original poster is from as it makes a huge difference in policy! It is also a difference in contracts- group rates are set with a contract stating that you are paying that reduced price in exchange for guaranteeing a certain number of rooms. The contract may provide additional amenities. The contract also guarantees that if the rates go up- you pay the original contracted rate. BTW - it is not a law that if the price trops they have to honor the price drop. That is a courtesy that some resorts offer - Sandals and Beaches is one of the best for easily honouring those drops. Other resorts do not honor drops at all while some do so only with certain sales or time restrictions. Keep in mind that when you are depositing on a room you are entering an agreement to pay that particular price- I am 100% positive that each of you would have a heart attack (and rightfully so) and be throwing a fit if the resort came back to you & said "well....we've had a price increase so now you have to pay more than when you deposited-you now owe us...... You'd be saying but we had a contract and it guaranteed us that rate! I don't mean to be negative here at all- just keeping things in perspective!

Not a problem! What we may do starting in 2010 is start charging a fee for those who have booked with other travel agencies to cover our expenses. I am finding a couple of them that are referring their brides to our webinars instead of taking the time & expense to do their own! But for now please do join us! Negril Honeymoon Recommendations?
JenniferSS replied to kerrij's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Basically having a room right on the sand is the most expensive room - that's what everyone wants so the price is at a premium. Couple Swept Away & Sandals Negril have beachfront rooms, the Rius are all set back, Sunset at the Palms is across the street, Couples negril are "kitty corner " to the beach-not really direct access from the rooms. For an inexpensive property Grand Pineapple has a few rooms that are really close to the beach, a bitty patch of grass between you & the beach. Good luck Quote: Originally Posted by kerrij Hi again! I found the most perfect place but it's $5000 for the week, just for the hotel! yikes! Suggestions pllllease?! -

Beaches Negril Brides - Post here!!
JenniferSS replied to 2bebridejamaica's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
I am seeing lots of available rooms for the 4th - 8th and onward at Beaches Negril, only the lowest room category of the Deluxe rooms are sold out. Sandy Bay is a little tighter but only the bottom two and top categories are sold out. The middle categories have lots of space still. If your guests are planning on doing day passess you better make sure that your TA provides a head count to the GM and gets permission now. If the resort does get to cappacity they have the right to deny day passess as they want to keep the resort comfortable for the guests who paid full price to be there. Quote: Originally Posted by bosi Your photographs are really beautiful Sherri, It gives me a lot of hope that my wedding will be just as nice. Did you do the preston bailey sunset collection or did you choose your own flowers? I know that its Martha Stewart now but your colors were really beautiful and striking. Were there people surrounding you on the beach during your ceremony? My main problem now is that both Beaches Negril and Sandy bay are sold out for most of their rooms on the days around my wedding date and my guests have to book elsewhere now, but Beaches charges people to come in. It's not their fault that there are no rooms, I just am not sure what to do now. Finally, I am bringing in my photographer from Minnesota. He is fantastic and he only charged me for the cost of travel and board and $200 for supplies!!. If anyone wants to use him in January (he says he may be there for another week or so after the wedding), let me know. You can email me for his info. -
Alison! You may want to book your photog for 3 nights instead of two- usually it's considerable less expensive ! Ta Jennifer Quote: Originally Posted by futuremrsgoodrich Hi Ms. Tiff, Congratulations to you too!! Re flowers, I was told we can do our own? I am not 100% sure if its because our wedding is during the transition between PB and MS, but I am rolling with it, they quoted me $75-150p centerpiece, $30p table linens. Also getting 10rooms booked for 4 nights helps in the costs. (15$pp) The per person amount is pretty consistent per service. The nice thing is the location is free. We decided to fly our photographer in. I found him through the Wedding Photojournalists Assn. Association of Wedding Photojournalists - WEDDING PHOTOJOURNALISM Beaches allows you to bring a photog is s/he is a guest (staying at least 2 nights). He is paying airfare and we pay his room. Not cheap but the one consistent I get from brides is the importance of photog. I love his stuff (Jeremy Igo out of Charlotte) Alison

If that price is just for the resort ( not airfare) then yes it is entirely possible to do that in Jamaica or Mexico! You will have several choices of all inclusive properties ranging from 3 star-4star. If that includes airfare- then it's going to be considerably harder and will narrow your choices down- especially in the 1500 p.p. range but it is still do-able!

Hi MSKimmy! You'll be fine in your room- these were refurbished and look nice, Plus you'll have a really big balcony! These are located in teh quieter area of the resort-have a great ocean view and there is a really nice patio /gazebo area where peopel get married right nearby and sme of the rooms over look it! I don't have my sheet right here but I believe there were only a few handicap rooms available and they should have been booked in that room type ( that's of course depending on their individiual needs and handicaps). Definately have your TA look ino this to be sure that they have what they need! No rehearsal but the Wc will go over the details when you meet with them - you'll choose your location, times that they will pick you up for the wedding and will guide you through the process! Have a great wedding! My mom and sister are also handi cap is there anything we can do for them or rooms we should recomend. I know you are not my TA just looking for some advice! Sorry if this over steps anything... Also do you know do you have a rehearsal or anything or how do you know what to do?

My pleasure! Remember that the discount does not apply if you book with Expedia/Orbitz ect. When booking with your ta make sure to let them know that you will be using a military discount so that they book it correctly and they can advise you on the proper paperwork that the military personnel will need to supply to get the discount!
