Maura - you tied it all up for me! This sounds great! Now I just have to figure out when I can get this done! I'm never worried about too many cookies....I work in a firehouse and I have lots of hungry firefighters I give my leftovers to. I swear, they are eating machines!

Help me decide Roses or Calla Lilly Bouquet!
Celina replied to cutierosie's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I say white callas and pink roses combined -
How crazy...I remember going through this with my family. You know, you can find trouble wherever you go. If you are flashing wads of cash - someone may rob you there - just like they would rob you here. A little common sense goes a long, long way!

Here is our thread! I swear - I've been in LaLa Land lately! (Say that 6 times while having bananna mudslides) he he! Less than a week now. 2 days until we leave for the city, 3 days until we fly out, and 6 days until the wedding. So our photographer sucked and we got his assistant and didnt get any pictures because his assistant was so concerned with getting his $10 per person sunset photos with the rest of the hotel and he kind of just quit taking our pictures at sunset. The actual photographer who we thought we were going to see didn't show up until the day we met to get the pictures. What a CHUMP!! SO - I have very few pics of me and DH. What have you all been up to? What are we going to do with ourselves now that our weddings are over? My AHR was a flop - we had 70 guests who RSVP'd who did not show. That sucked. I'm glad it's all over. I want to start doing some home improvement projects (painting) and I want to buy a king size bed! (bow-chicka-wow-wow)

Okay - so if I have 14 girls - I have them bring 42 cookies - 14 to share at the party and 28 left over so everyone can take two home. All of my friends have kids and are married so they'll want extra. That makes sense doesn't it?
-
From what I've heard is that everyone brings cookies to share and enough cookies to send home with each guest so that in the end everyone leaves with a good size tray/basket full of home made cookies. YUMMY!! I've heard about these and they sound fun and practical for those of us that bake. I love having the girls over and have lots of cute Christmas stuff that I never get to use. I totally want to do this but I just can't figure out what the ratio is for cookies to bring per person. I am inviting 14 girlfriends and want to have cookies to taste and cookies to share. Any help please??

Wow Jess - what a very good and detailed review! I am so sorry about the WC there. She really needs some help. With a party that large, they definitely should have had some help for her. What sucks is that you put so much effort in making sure everything is perfect and then they screw it all up. It sounds like you made the best of it though. Isn't it funny that after it's all said and done some of it you just let roll off and it isn't so big of a deal as you thought? What a wonderful turn out for your wedding! That is awesome that you had so many friends and family! I want more pics girlie! You look beautiful!

NO - my dad's sister in law e-mails me Monday to ask for my friends phone number! I'm like WTF?? No shame...I tell you...NO shame! Quote: Originally Posted by j5nichols2 Awwww, I am so sorry. If your dad's family doesn't want to be apart of it, they don't have to. Thier loss! I am also curious...what did your dad have to say about it? That is exactly what we are doing. Things are kind of cool between me and my dad. He hasn't said much since then. I think he knows that we are mad. I told him that we dont want those kind of people around us. He was like, "Celina, why did you guys do so much?" You should have had something small and simple and not so extravagant." I told him that we wanted to give our friends and family the best that we had, but obviously we meant nothing to those people and that was okay. The picture is clear and we'll never do it again. If you can't be there to support us or even give us an explanation as to why they couldn't show - that's all good. Dont ever expect to talk to us again. I think he knows we are pissed and he is just staying away. In my eyes my dad isn't who I thought he was. He is weak and I have always had a hard time having respect for weak men. Although he is my dad and I will always love him, he isn't the same person I always thought he was. It's kind of sad, but what can I do? -

Shawn never spoke to my uncle and I wasn't mad about it but I think my dad was upset. I told my dad I am going to let their actions roll off of me but that I won't forget what they did. My dad continues (as always) to preach forgiveness. I told him there is a line you have to draw when it comes to forgiveness or you just become someone's doormat. I told them we won't be their doormat - we just won't deal with them anymore. His response...forgiveness. Quote: Originally Posted by JessicaLovesBrian That's a lot of no-shows! I am worried bout this too.... ours is Jan 17th (sat) at 1pm til 6pm. I did it during the day because of winters here in Mass and alot more people I thought would come because it's during the day... but my responses are not coming... I have like 30 people so far and the invites went out right after we left for Jamaica. I know I have 3 more weeks left before they are due... but I sent out invites for 147 people.... We have alot of people that are oh so not dependable at all ... Ya know what ... next time to you see people that didn't come ... make sure you talk to someone that did go bout how GREAT it was even if certain people didn't show... LOL... STICK IT RIGHT TO THE MAN!!! We did a brunch because winters here in Colorado aren't that nice either. It was chilly Saturday and had snowed the night before so some of my co-workers were on Snow duty, but my dad's family weren't. If we would have had an open bar their dumb asses would have been here! Whatever...screw em! Quote: Originally Posted by RoryS That is just so RUDE! I was babysitting for my SIL's kids when they were in her sister's wedding. She was paying about $150/pp. What do people think? If they don't show up - they just deduct the amount from the bill? They'd be the same ones that would rant and rave if you did something like that to them!! OMFG - I would have died! We were out a couple hundred dollars on it all. Still - we have kids - we could have spent a couple hundred dollars on something for our kids! Quote: Originally Posted by jmiranda Are you serious? Why would they do this to you? Happy Birthday Michelle! (beachbride08)
Celina replied to ACDCDCAC's topic in CONGRATS & Shout outs!!
Hey Chicklet! Have a wonderful, awesome, super-duper birthday! Luv ya! -
So I just need to vent a little to someone who would understand (You guys) Our AHR was this past Saturday. We had over 150 RSVP's. We made food for 150. Guess how many DID NOT show up? 70. YES - 70 freakin people did not show up. Half of the people who said they would be there showed up..the others didn't. I am mad because we paid for ALL OF THAT FOOD! MY GOD - we threw food away and it was so wasteful because we had no more room in our vehicles to put the stuff. It was insane! The majority of the people were from my dad's family. I knew ahead of time that they can not be counted on but we gave them the benefit of the doubt and still got screwed. It was disgusting the amount of food that was left over. We froze a lot and gave a lot away, but the thought that people were so freakin rude that they couldn't show up just burns me. I know where we stand with them and they have been permanantely moved off of any future invite lists we have. We worked so hard and spent hundreds of $$$'s and people dont even have the decency to call to say they couldn't make it or their plans changed. I'm glad our wedding is over and having an AHR is my biggest regret. My dad's family had a party the night before for one of my aunts - I almost feel like they did it on purpose as an excuse not to wake up and go to our brunch on Saturday. Screw them - they can all go to hell as far as I'm concerned!

Has anyone used Blume Boxes?
Celina replied to SarahandTrevor's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Hi Sarah - I used blumeboxes for my wedding centerpieces. They held up pretty well. The florist put the foam in them and they worked fine. We had one that leaked because someone stuck a pin in one of the boxes, but other than that we didn't have any problems. Look in the centerpiece thread and you'll see mine. Good luck! ~Celina -

What is your favorite Christmas/holiday tradition??

I used to host brunch every Christmas morning and they would come over and we would have mimosas, and a wonderful spread of breakfast items. Wow how I miss that. Anyhow - our tradition is every year we buy an ornament that reflects the year. Last year we bought a seahorse ornament to remember our first family trip to PV. This year it will definitely be something wedding related. Maybe I'll find a big script E to put on the tree. Hmmm...something to think about! Oh and we always spend Christmas Eve with our friends and when we get home we let the kids open one gift. -
Happy Birthday Shelley! Have an amazing day!
