The do's and the dont's
Celina replied to Christinamaria22's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Consider what you want to take down. With such a small party you can have some wonderful favors. Make some notes as to what is important for you and go from there. So many choices can be tough! -
I Need Help From My BDW Girls....AGAIN!
Celina replied to lil_miss_frogg's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I agree with sending the STD's to those you are inviting. Send invites to those you are inviting and send the announcements to everyone- regardless if they were invited or not - but only send them AFTER the wedding. It's kind of an insult to send an announcement to people that you are getting married but they aren't invited. -
Don't know where to start with guest list!
Celina replied to jackobelle's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I would say go with an A, B and (if necessary) a C list. A=immediate friends and family B=cousins and other friends C=anyone beyond those not already mentioned. If I could do it over again I wouldn't have wasted the $$ on sending invites to some relatives and would have kept it immediate family and friends only. Do this before you order invites or you will find your self with too many or too little invites -
I just got married at the RIU Vallarta. I didn't think it was touristy at all. In fact, Nuevo Vallarta is so far from PV, it's like it's own little place. We had a great time as did our guests. The WC's dont correspond much, but do a hell of a job when you get there. Please PM me if you have any questions. Good luck!

Bringing Sand Ceremony Home
Celina replied to Natashak's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
As far as taking the sand there - leave it in its original container so there arent' any questions at customs. When you bring it back make sure to fill it all the way and tap...tap...tap. Otherwise your sand will shift and become all swirled up and will look funny like mine did (boo!) I carried mine back in my carryon and since we had connnecting flights we had to be re-screened. The screener made me un wrap the bottle because they thought I was taking a bottle of liquid on. Once I showed them what it was and told them it was from my wedding they were really nice and sent me on my way. -

Destination Wedding Invites???
Celina replied to SummerandIsaac's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Our invitations included: An invitation to the actual wedding in Mexico. A reception card that read : A brunch reception honoring the newlyweds will be held on ___________ at________ in Denver, Colorado A RSVP card that read: Yes Ill be alble to attend the wedding in Mexico_______ No, I won't attend in mexico but send well wishes ______ Yes I'll be able to attend the brunch in Denver _______ No I won't attend the brunch but send well wishes ______ By doing this we were able to track both invites to the wedding and the brunch. Everything matched and the package as a whole came out beautifully. -
Calling all November 2009 Brides!
Celina replied to beachbride2009's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Hi Ladies and congratulations! I was a November 2008 bride in Puerto Vallarta. If I can be of any assistance, please let me know! I may sound partial, but YES - I totally agree that November is the best time to get married! Happy planning! -
I would suggest either you or your BM's do it. I called and asked flat out - "The RSVP deadline was ........ and to date we havent heard from you. For planning purposes, we need to know if you are able to attend the wedding". Hopefully that will get you some results. I would start calling a week after the due date. You give people a card with a stamp for Pete's sake - you would think they could fill it out and return it!

What I would and wouldn't do again...
Celina replied to gkashmira's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
I know I am so late in doing this but better late than never! What I would do again: Marry DH Have a DW Buy inexpensive BM dresses Use an IPOD for music Arrive a few days early and stay a few days later than the rest of the guests Trust the hotel to make the cake Be so detail oriented - Everyone loved the small touches and appreciated all of the detail that went into everything Have our wedding at an AI - it just worked for us. With the kids and adults alike. Everyone loved it. Write our own ceremony Buy our flowers on site instead of going with artificial. I still brought my bouquet back! Use a TA for our trip - it gave everyone a go to person and I didn't have to get involved. Use vistaprint for a lot of the printing - they were cheap and fast Have the hotel salon do my hair. I gave them great pics and it turned out just how I wanted it. Start my planning as early as I did - the wedding wasn't a huge chunk of my pocketbook and I spread the expense out over a years time. What I wouldn't do again: I wouldn't worry about what everyone else thought - sure it kind of stung when so many people weren't able to make it, but in the end we had a great group of people that DID go and they will be a part of that memory forever. Have an AHR - we went with a brunch and did all of the catering ourselves. It cost us about a thousand dollars and it was the biggest waste because we had 75 RSVP's and only 35 who actually showed up. Those who didn't show up are now on my "never invite to a party again" list. I wouldn't have packed so many shoes that I didn't wear I would have made my MOH go back to the room and get the vows I wrote down instead of just winging it. I would have sent the kids with family members for a couple of days. DH and I really could have used some time alone. I would have booked more time at the bar for our reception - three hours FLEW by because we ran long on dinner. I would have had someone make sure all of the stuff we took for decor got returned back to us. The hotel lost some of our stuff and/or never returned it. I wouldn't have used luminarias as decor because no one noticed them. I would have went with a strapless gown. Even though I am a DDD - it could have worked. I would have remembered to write a toast for each of my BM's, Parents and DH. I was so busy with the planning I forgot to write a toast and I felt terrible because I couldn't think of anything to say! That's all I can think of right now ~ hope this helps out another DW bride! -
How to estimate #/guests?
Celina replied to miss di's topic in Destination Weddings in Puerto Vallarta & surrounding areas
I would send out your STD's as soon as possible. This will get people talking about it. When we sent out our STD's it was 15 months before the wedding. We had our information ready to go. Our STD's included a package rate for 5 or 7 days, our TA info, hotel info and dates when deposits were due and when they were to be paid off by. We also had a wedding website where people could look for up to date info. After people know how much it will cost they will know whether or not they are going. We sent out around 75 STD's (150 people) and had total 32 people attend in Mexico. Keep in contact with your TA and they will tell you who has inquired. The sooner you do this the better. I had people who I thought were going to go - not go, and people I didn't expect to go - go. SO IMO - get the info out as soon as possible. I say you should decide on a venue sooner rather than later. Weddings book fast and your date may not be available. Also, many of the villas, etc., are booked up to a year in advance. -
OOT bags?
Celina replied to marisolhernandez's topic in Destination Weddings in Puerto Vallarta & surrounding areas
Hi Marisol, Since we were already loaded up with luggage for ourselves and our two kids, we ended up having family members each take a little down. The morning before everyone arrived me and one of my BM's who were there already assembled everything. Both she and I brought all of the stuff for the OOT bags and we had other family members take stuff that wasn't OOT bag related. I don't think we added anything to our bags once we got there. You can, it just depends on what you want in the bags KWIM? I was concerned with going thru customs with all that stuff, but we got the green light so all was well! -
PV Restaurants
Celina replied to adeybaby's topic in Destination Weddings in Puerto Vallarta & surrounding areas
We had our rehearsal dinner at the Fajita Republic in Nuevo Vallarta. We gave our guests a set menu and apps for each table. They were great to work with. We had 30 guests and with drinks included it came to around $800. (That price would be more or less depending on how many alcoholic beverages are consumed) -

Personalized M&Ms
Celina replied to CDNgroom's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I just posted on another thread that I did these as well. We did the teal and ivory personalized M&M's. I left them in the bag until we got there and the morning of the wedding had my BM's put them in these little palm tree boxes that we placed on the book table. My DH proposed to me with a ring inside a box that was inside a bag of M&M's, so it was a take off on his proposal. They were a little pricey, but everyone loved them.
