  1. You have to mail your notarized/certified copies of your passports and birth certificates. They have to be at the resort at least 30 days prior to your wedding. oops, i guess your question was already answered!
  2. I emailed Chandlyn and she replied the next day saying that our documents had arrived and everything is in order. Good to cross that off my list!
  3. I love Norma so far! She called me at home to let me know she had received my email and to give me some packing advice and info about Ocho Rios!
  4. Thank you! Hopefully your phone call proves to be more successful!
  5. Can someone please post Chandlyn's email address? I've seen it before but don't really have the patience to go sifting through all the posts. I sent off my documentation almost a month ago and haven't heard back as to whether it arrived or not. Thanks!
  6. I think the legal requirement for getting married in Jamaica is actually 48 hours. I think the hotel requests 72 hours to simplify with the planning. If the wedding coordinator ok'ed it, I wouldn't worry.
  7. I had nothing but problems with SuperClubs so I took my money (and my guest's money!) to Riu Ocho Rios. SuperClubs was absolutely horrible to deal with, just a head's up.
  8. I'll second the warm salt water gargle, it tastes terrible but definitely helps! And rest up so you can feel better for your big trip!
  9. Welcome! We're at 2 months out and still haven't heard from Chandlyn, some people are in contact with her way before that. It seems kinda random to be honest. As for the travel date/wedding date, if you're legally getting married in Jamaica you need to be there 48 hours. The Riu seems to require 72 hours, probably so they can do the organization and stuff. If you have your heart set on getting married September 27th, I would plan on arriving September 24th. The hotel is a bit flexible with the 72 hours in some cases from what I've heard but don't count on it. Also, what if you have any travel delays and don't make it to Jamaica more than 48 hours before your wedding time? That'd be a major problem. Hope that helps!
  10. I'm confused, the Riu website is showing availability. Why can't you book?
  11. RIU actually doesn't have airport transfers at all. They can recommend a shuttle company but that's it. We're booked with Lees Tours. If you have a group of 10-20, it's $18/person from the Montego Bay airport to Riu in Ocho Rios.

I asked Norma (the super nice woman from Lees tours) about what I could do for flowers and she gave me a ridiculously cheap price for flowers for me, my bridesmaids, the groom, and my flower girls AND they'll deliver it to the hotel first thing in the morning. If you need ANY services I am strongly endorsing these guys - they're fantastic and fast to respond by email. Did you order your flowers through the tour company? We've already booked our shuttle service through Lee's, and I agree, they're amazing so far!! How did the ride turn out?

Was there anything you wish you would have brought or that you brought but found out the resort provided?
  14. People put stuff on top of your dress?! I hope they didn't realize what was underneath and it was accidental! I told our family and friends that are on our flight to book seats around us so we can monopolize the overhead bin!
  15. Crazy question for you... Did the hotel provide toasting glasses and the cake serving set?
  16. Oh good, glad to hear everything worked out for you. What a bunch of un-needed stress!
  17. This makes planning a bit difficult! If there's good entertainment the night of our wedding, I'd totally go for that but I don't want to count on it and find out that it's Discovery Channel shark week night or something. What to do, what to do?
  18. I was wondering if there is a set nightly entertainment schedule for the ROR. Is the entertainment the same every Friday night for example? Or does it rotate?
  19. I just sent my documents via registered mail from Canada. It cost $19 for the shipping and the ridiculously over-priced envelope. I'll let everyone know how long they took when they get there. ETA: I have no idea when my documents arrived but apparently they are there. I didn't get any update on the Canada Post tracking number or an email from Chandlyn but when I emailed to ask her if she had received them and she confirmed that our paper work had arrived.
  20. Congratulations! You guys looked amazing on your wedding day. Your dress was soooooo pretty! Were you guys too hot in the big dress and suit? That's what we're wearing and I'm nervous that I'm going to over heat.
  21. Congratulations! Did you have to tell the steel band what to play or did they do their own thing?
  22. Congratulations! I'm glad to hear everything went so well with your wedding. Your pictures are beautiful! I really like the bright colors! Your flowers were fantastic! Exactly what I imagine a tropical bouquet should look like!
  23. If the resort doesn't make things right, switching resorts is an option, i did it at a little less than 4 months out. We had our flights booked and so did lots of our guests but the resort (Grand Lido Negril) refused to honor the quote they gave us for a group rate and that was the straw that broke the camel's back! (They "lost" our room deposit and reservation and were complete a-holes to my FFIL who was booking for our whole group.) We were kind of tied to our dates and Jamaica because we had our flights already but there are a whole lot of resorts in Jamaica thankfully. Oh, and I had already sent out my invitations too. No one seemed to care too much about the change, actually, most people were happy cause it saved them over $1000! Good luck!
  24. Maggie Sottero's Ivana... Anyone know where I can sign up for a "how not to look like an idiot in your wedding dress" class? Clearly I need it.
