We got married on a friday at 12, and there was only one other wedding at 4pm that day. We arrived on the Thurs, got married 8 days later, then had 6 days to relax, had to do it that way as some guest only came for 1 week. We saw weddings the weekend before ours where there was up to 4 a day, but only really on the Fri and Sat, the other days, although not a day ( apart from Sun) went by without a wedding, usually only 1 or 2, spaced out, per day

Most of the people in the suites around us, seemed to be brides that we had seem previously getting married, and we got the impression that they almost 'save' those rooms especially for wedding upgrades. crossing my fingers you get your upgrade! -

ROR wedding - 14th March - PICS!

Thanks for the lovely comments! The electricity saga was quite funny, I had already decided nothing was going to spoil my day, so when it went off, I was not bothered! My sister had spent ages practicing curling my hair with tongs, and she was stressing that it would have all been for nothing if the electric didn't come back on.... but it did, and we were able to get everyone ready on time! My bouquet was one of the free ones, there was only a choice of the carnations or daisys in a variety of styles. I had to pay for the bridesmaids boquets - $30 each. I had seen some lovely roses ones, but as they have to be imported they were very expensive, so I just went with the simple carnations, you can ask for any colours and they will try to accomodate -
Hi, Hope this link works! Wedding was fantastic - despite there being no electricity in the resort until 30 mins before the wedding! Snapfish: Share:Registration Anna

We didn't choose to have a song for the bridesmaids, I had 3 'grown up' and 2 'flower girls' so by the time the two little ones (aged 2 and 2 1/2) had walked across the sand, and up the aisle to scatter petals, a whole song had played! I have no idea what was playing as we signed the register, I guess I was too caught up in the moment!

AnnaReeves1 replied to AlmostMrsForbes's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
Hi, We were married at the beach gazebo, no mics, and still those at the back were able to hear! ( we have 40 guests!) It was a very still day with no breeze, so we may have been lucky! -

AnnaReeves1 replied to kitty_kat_uk's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
Yup, Count me in! we are due to fly out 2 weeks tomorrow!! Major issues with thomson, (from wedding times changing, to changing the seats on the plane, and not making their minds up how I was able to carry my dress on board the plane!) -

Everyone is so helpful, to the extent of if you post a pic of something you like, these girls will search the net to find you the best deal!! I am getting married at the ROR on 14th March, and I cant wait Whether you are pretty laid back about it like me, or want to plan everything so that it is perfect, you will find answers and help here!

Ocho Rios Bachelor and Bachelorette Party?
AnnaReeves1 replied to juanslake's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
we will have already had ours here ( 23rd Feb) but we are def going to have a 'boys' and 'girls' night the night before the wedding! I just want to have a few cocktails in the bar with the girls and a relativley early night!!! As Chris and I are not spending the night together before the wedding, we thought it would be pretty cool to have seperate nights out the night before too. Only 5 weeks till we go - Yay! -
Hi, I really like the idea of saying our own vows, well more of still saying the traditional stuff, but also adding in a few lines of my own, but I am not sure that i will be able to hold up and not become emotional! I sort of well up just reading them out aloud to myself, never mide being stood there in my dress, FI in front of me doing it for real! Just wondered if any of you who had said your own vows - would you do it again?

We are having our AHR 1 week after we get back, a little mad I know! The idea was that only 34 friends and family are joining us in Jamaica, and people like my grandad will not be able to make it. We wanted them to be able to share the celebration as much as possible, so decided on an early AHR. Having said that, we have just called it a 'party', not a formal reception, no speeches, sit down dinner etc ( although my dad likes the idea of showing a video of the wedding!) I am wearing my dress, for a couple of reasons, it cost me £700, and also, I would like pictures of me in my dress with those who were unable to make it to Jamaica I guess it depends what you really want, formal, which may require more planning, or something easy going like us - DJ, Hall, Hog roast, no table plans, etc that ( hopefully!) can be done the week we get back
-
OMG, I cant believe it, in 8 weeks time we will be there! Been today to pick up flower girl dresses (gorgeous!) and off tomorrow to pick up Wedding rings, feel like loads of little bits to do still! Do you have the tradition like us in the UK of something old, borrowed, new and blue? if so, would love to hear ideas from people

Riu Palace Punta Cana
AnnaReeves1 replied to AnnaReeves1's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
Hi, Just got back from hols, and can only say WOW! Just a quick review here, on the resort itself, as I cant comment on anything to do with weddings as we did not see any there (we saw a few bridal parties, but never any ceremony) The hotel is fabulous, we had a great room, right in the centre overlooking the pool The most amazing thing about the hotel is the service, the staff are so attentive and can not do enough for you. Whilst at the pool, Antonito came around asking what you wanted to drink, clearing all used glasses/cups etc. The bar staff in the lobby bar were so friendly, there was waiter service, and they always managed to get to you at your table to ask you what you want next to drink before you can even get up to go to the bar! The entertainment team - Joe Black, Johnny Bravo, Puff Daddy, Christina - were all fantastic. Whether rain or shine they were there to check you were ok, talk if you wanted to, but be descrete enough to leave you alone when wanted Food - excellent - so much choice! Overall - fantastic. We stayed in the Superclub breezes down the beach last year (now Barcelo Premium) and thoroughly enjoyed that holiday, but believed that this holiday to the Riu Palace was in a different class altogether Anna -
So, I have written the below for the guests that are coming to Jamaica. We do not want to be preseumtious (sp?) in putting in a present list, but people keep asking us. We thought for eveyone who has come to Jamaica, we would put in the below. This is just to go in the AHR invitation. Obviously we will not put a present list in for anyone just comming to the AHR, as I think that it is a little rude put in a list almost 'expecting' a present Let me know what you think, honest opinions always welcome!! We are no good at writing poetry, So we hope you get the jist, Of this little rhyme, Why we have no present list. You are all travelling around the world, Conquring fears of flight and all Just to see us tie the knot, So thats all to wish for and more. If you feel the need to send a present, What we really wish for is a momento, Of the times we all had in Jamaica, So go ahead – send us a photo! In a frame, album, or on its own, The wedding, the beach, or of you Whatever the picture is Please let it bring a smile to us too
