    New and happy

hi suzy! from another cabo bride! where will you be having your ceremony and reception?
  2. i say if youre in a rush, roll with it. i bet you no one will notice or remember the color difference except for you and your FI. youre not being bridezillaish, you had an idea of what you wanted. but it may cause you further stress to have them redone because of time constraints, so if you like how they look, just send em and forget about it!
  3. omg, thanks jamy! i have always wanted to swim with dolphins and we've been looking for fun stuff to do on our honeymoon since we're staying in cabo for wedding and honeymoon! i am definitely going to check more into this
  4. I'll chime in here that I have Bradley booked for my August 9th wedding and we are ecstatic about having him. If you PM me, I will give you access to a couple albums that other brides have given me of their photos by Bradley. Seeing them totally helped us in picking him.
  5. ugh brandy im considering the same thing because i *think* my colors are going to be a light aqua and brown, because my FI hated the teal BM dresses, and my maids arent huge fans of the light aqua dresses... so i have been agonizing over whether or not brown dresses would be ok in august or not...
  6. from another cabo bride! holler if you have questions! we're always happy to help!
  7. abb those look great for being mock-ups. have you also looked at paper-source? (paper-source.com) they have that kind of paper and i believe it comes in the size you need if you buy one of the big sheets they sell. i was just there the other day and thought about buying them to make a mock-up STD because we arent sure what size we want to do.
  8. Hi Tara, and I'm also a Cabo bride - will be getting married there in August. Have you decided yet where your ceremony and reception will be? Happy planning and let us know if theres anything we can do to help you!
  9. tami, i personally think thats kinda weird... FMIL's friends threw me a separate shower than the one my sister (MOH) and aunt will be throwing me in june. and even though they live in mexico, they actually have some friends here in chicago too. IMHO, i think its slightly presumptuous of your FMIL to ask YOU to add her friends to the guest list for a shower that your family is throwing. if you're comfortable with it, then anything goes, but i would personally feel weird about it.

  11. Ok this is what you should do since you have gotten no answers so far. Contact the Mexican consulate at 312-855-1380. Here is their website: Consulado General de Mxico en Chicago They should be able to quickly provide legal document translation (and notarization, but I am not 100% positive), and that should be acceptable to give to your HR representative. If the consulate can't provide notarization for some reason, let me know and my mom can do it for you. I will PM you this in case you don't check in, and also with my phone number so you can call me if you need to. sending hugs your way!
  12. yeah michelle, i think you should call them back and tell them youre concerned about alterations costing a lot since you ordered a dress larger than you need, see if you can get that squared away upfront so you dont get charged a bunch later. ps $300 for alterations, seriously??
  13. this forum is such a wonderful place for DW brides to get ideas and support. thanks for everything tammy, you're the best!
  14. good luck and have fun! remember also though that many places, a dress can take 6-9 months to come in (a total turnoff about wedding dresses for me), but you can always pay a rush fee if you really fall in love with a dress that needs to be ordered. looking forward to seeing pics tomorrow!
  15. keep in mind also that melissa is from canada, and therefore the rules may be different in the US. i know for certain that for immigration purposes, we need to have a certificate in english, however, we're having a legal ceremony in the US before we go to MX. Our catholic certificate will likely be in spanish which we will need to have translated for sure in order to baptize our kids in the church at some point.
  16. i wouldnt say its rude, but think about if you were the average clueless wedding guest. (FI and i just had this discussion last night actually!) sending out your invites so far in advance, people are likely to forget about them and lose them, toss them out by accident, etc etc, spend all their money in advance. you are better served to send out a STD, and these can be done very cheaply on your own, referring people to your wedding website. this is what we are planning to do, and including a small business card sized enclosure with the STD that due to the nature of a destination wedding, we need a preliminary headcount, and we will be asking people to go to our website and add their name to a list on a special part of the site if they think they will either definitely come or maybe come. our STDs also say "formal invitation to follow" -- hope this helps a little!
  17. jenesis, any luck with the HR woman today?

  19. angela - i have good news for you. i believe for what you want to do, imovie would be sufficient. you can add in a music track and transitions, and its very easy to do. but i would be happy to walk you through it if you need help! in college, i was always in charge of the sorority recruitment videos because im a mac user and i always did them with imovie and they turned out great.
  20. i think it's fine, we're having a flower girl but no ring bearer... i have a cousin who will be 6 at the time of our wedding so she will be just the right age and she's incredibly well behaved like shes a little adult because shes an only child. we are hoping to keep kids out of the wedding equation otherwise... as for the reception, i cant help you because they dont do it the same way in mexico, only the bride and groom make an entrance so that's what we're doing.
  21. abbie, those are really pretty! i especially like the little flowers on them. i am hand making a bridesmaid invitation for my best friend this weekend, and i need to get my butt over to the paper-source store by my house to get some supplies! thanks for the motivation!
  22. My best friend bought her husband a Rolex watch (which I believe was engraved on the back with a private message) and his gift to her was a pair of light blue sapphire earrings shaped like stars with diamond accents from Tiffany - they were her something blue. I think those are totally over the top gifts, but they were both very lovely. Not sure if FI and I are going to exchange wedding day gifts yet. One time I casually mentioned the idea of BD pics and he really wasn't crazy about the idea, actually I was surprised at his negative reaction to the idea, so I probably won't do those. He said his mental pictures were good enough haha. So I have no idea what I would get him, because he already has a Rolex, so I really can't top that in the watch department!
  23. ok jenesis, first thing in the morning, you need to find out if your HR rep has requirements of who can translate and notarize it. then let me know the requirements. if they arent strict, my FI can recommend a number of people to translate it and my mom is a notary public if you are downtown in the city, i can refer you to her and she will do it in 5 mins flat. let me know what you find out from HR and we will get his documents in by the due date! the nerve of those freakin HR people though, i tell you. they shouldve notified you immediately, i would bring this up with the seniormost person you can at your company. that is a violation of your rights to not notify you.
