Wondering, will it be less than or greater than $500. This is nuts! I'm paying the $500 fee-but my photog is splitting the fee with me (ie she took $250 off of my package) -- I confirmed with Valeria I won't need to get her a room or a guest day pass since I am paying the stupid fee... But it did help for the photog to pay half- I'm going with Cancun Studios- I get 5 hours, 200 pictures, a CD that has all pix/negatives, a website where my friends/family can view 100 pic, and a photo album...for $1700 (regular $1950 but minus the $250 for resort fee) - I think our deposit to book was only $250... which was added to our balance for package.... She had more expensive packages and cheaper packages..... CANCUN STUDIOS Congrats on date! YAH!!!

I know DW has tons of travel agents, just wasn't sure if they put girls going to the same destination with the same group of agents. How far are you in your planning? What exactly is the mexican donkey cocktail thing they offer... whats with the donkey? Are you having any of the musicians Lomas offers? I'm so excited to have found other EDR brides-to-be as well! -Holly Hey Brandoo! I was originally set up with Shirley Light- who I loved- and then she left to start her own travel business and now I'm with Sue Allen- Sue is very good- answers within a few hours- has done tons of different kinds of travel quotes for guests- she isn't quite as personable as Shirley -but she's good at her job- we have been satisfied so far.... There are lots of girls doing the mexican donkey cocktail thing-- I'm not bc we have different guests coming in on different days--I'm adding the "white glove mexican cocktail" right after ceremony (while we are taking pictures, etc), and then having the "free" dinner/reception at Fuentes, then doing the chocolate fondue party after dinner- we'll do the cake cutting at the chocolate party thing.... We aren't having a rehearsal dinner- I'm kicking FI out of the room Thursday after breakfast- and he is "moving" in with his boys until the wedding Friday at 4PM- I think the boys are going to Cancun on Thursday and us girls are thinking about Cozumel.... It'll be fun to have 24 hours with just the girls in Mexico-- a little side girls vacay! - Send me messages if you have any qustions or cool ideas! ---- All the girls here ROCK
  4. oh my god Bre! -thank so much- I'm now in a full-on centerpiece and linen panic- hehe.. I was feeling sleepy but I definitely have a 2nd wind now Thanks soo much!!!
  5. Dreamgirl- good to see another EDR bride! --- I actually "found" EDR through DestinationWeddings.com - Destination Weddings and Honeymoons - I paid a $50 deposit with them that was included in my package; and they put me in contact w/ Valeria from Lomas.. .My travel agent from DestinationWeddings.com - Destination Weddings and Honeymoons set up our wedding website and helped me with picking a location/resort. When we sent out our save the dates- we just put the website's information with all of our agent's contact information-- so it's been super easy. She gives quotes to guests coming from different locations, staying in different rooms, and for a different number of nights- I haven't had to think about it once. Valeria from Lomas has been awesome for us...and this website has been invaluable on picturing what it'll look like/ planning... Good luck with planning- you'll have tons of info on this site!!!
  6. Wow- this thread was awesome... I thought I had decided on this centerpiece- but after seeing some of these other ones-- hmm-- not 100% sure!
  7. Welcome Holly!! My wedding is a week or so behind you and Mrs V-to-be- so much fun to chat with brides that have the same location!! - made me laugh about being a "lurker" I was the same way- hehe...
  8. Pics are beautiful -the resort looks amazing!!
  9. Awesome- thanks for info....... Is anyone planning centerpieces/decorations for dinner/reception- do they do the decorations for you - is it something you choose? -or something you add on- does anyone have information about this? Thanks guys!!!!
  10. Thanks so much for the info!! It's so awesome to have help when planning stuff "blindly"! I can't wait for the "official review" - and thanks again!
  11. Bre- I'm trying to decide between the "free" wedding reception/dinner at El Cocotal or Fuentes-- From your pics it looks like Fuentes is outside? -is this right? - are they big differences between restaurant setups? thanks so much for any help!!
  12. Awesome- thanks guys!! - yes, I was definitely picturing the guys in khaki pants--- awesome- I told my FI I was going to check with my other brides-- that he was already out-voted-- I think most of his boys/friends will be glad to have some direction with what to wear- hehe...
  13. Hey everyone! - We are having a "small, intimate" ceremony at EDR in Mexico--- approx 20-25 guests will be there -def no more than 30....We aren't having anyone "stand" up there with us-- we are kinda considering all of our guests our wedding party--and have informed the photog we, of course, want pictures w/ just me and groom but also want all of guests on lots of the pictures- in "formal" pictures and in "fun" pictures... My FI thinks I'm being "controlling" -but I know I've heard of people doing this-- can we ask the guests to wear to the wedding, clothes that have similiar or compatible colors?!?! We are mailing a tourist book to each house that is booked for wedding in March- w/ travel tips and wedding itinerary, etc -to get everyone excited... -can I put in there to please wear white, turquoise blue, red, or yellow- to the wedding?- is that too much? -if not, how would you word it? Thanks for any help!!
  14. I bought 2 - I know - I sound like a diva- but it was more I couldn't decide what style I wanted- more indecisive vs diva- hehe... one is a sheath --it's a Hjelms couture- and I'm wearing it at our "send off" party we are having here (in Raleigh) before we leave, and out reception party in Charlotte when we get back -the dress I'm actually wearing for wedding is a Watters-- I got both at the same bridal store so they gave me 20% off total-since I bought 2 -- I was right under $3K... - not counting alterations- ouch. Here's the Hjelms-- it's just a V-neck front... oops- sorry couldn't get it to actually paste here-- Houston Bridal & Formal Gallery here's the Watters: Watters Brides | Bridal Gown Collection | Style 1039B | Silk taffeta v-neck gown with fully draped bodice and dramatic trumpet skirt and embellished belt. Sweep train.
  15. Welcome to Forum!! at EDR in Riviera Maya- it is $150/each (or $125- I forget) for blood tests and I just confirmed with the WC -the translation of the wedding certificate from Spanish to English (which is necessary to have it legal in the US) is only $90- and they do that at the resort for you.... Good luck with finding a resort!! You'll find tons of info here!!

    new here!

Welcome to Forum-- I'm also getting married in May 2008 in the Riviera Maya!!
  17. Yep- I had the same thinking as most of the other posts-- we are getting married May 16- and I sent out STD in early August--- and will send out the invitations beginning of January -with the RSVP date as Feb 29th.... The packages through our travel agent has to be paid in full by April 1st.....
  18. Hey guys- found a cool website that does wax seals-----that are stick-on- sounded cheasy at first- but they look good on the website.... You can even design your own monogram! Peel and Stick Wax Seals and Wax Seal items by Waxent®
  19. I definitely say send the STD- that way it's off your shoulders- you did what you could... the ball is in their court. I'm in a kinda similar situation- my parents don't approve of my and my FI's interracial relationship -we've dated for 10 years- and lived together for the past 4- and they've never met him- refused. I sent them a STD- and will send them an invitation- I have told then over letters/email- that I do not want them there if they can't be supportive and truly happy that their daughter is happy- that they will receive all the information -but I only want them there if they can figure out a way by May to support my decision, the person I love, and my marriage. Honestly, I would rather them not come- but I figure for future grandchildren, etc- that I would at least send the information and tell them they are welcome if they can be supportive- maybe your FI can have a similar convo with his brother.... Good luck! Let us know how it goes... Believe me, I know how awful family drama can be.... Just focus on you and your FI in the meantime!
  20. This is hair heaven for sure! --- I started reading the thread having no idea where to start with the hairstyle- and now I have like 6 that I love- so I went from having no idea, to having too many I love!! This thread ROCKS!!
  21. Congratulations!! - Happy planning!
