Hey guys- if you flip back to one page ealier (page 34) in this thread-- I posted the email from Valeria (about halfway down the page)... I was told by Valeria- that my $500 vendor fee would cover the one photographer for the day. If I had more than one photographer, it was an additional $72 day pass for each assistant. So, if you have 3 photographers, you should just be paying for 2 day passes. I'm having a private cocktail party after ceremony/before dinner, and a private reception party after dinner-- I'm not paying for my photographer for those. We'll probably be taking pics most of time during cocktail party-- I'll have her shoot a half hour or so of dinner-then she can take a dinner break (which is requested) and eat/have a drink on the resort- and then have her come back and shoot a hour of our reception- the first dance, cake cutting etc... I'm starting to ramble- hehe-- hopefully this helps!

Sorry for the long post-- just wanted to make sure I relayed everything correctly. It is a terrible business decision on Karisma's part- they will lose tons of business over this. I know I would not pay a $1250 "extra" fee to have my wedding at EDR. Such a shame... Glad it doesn't apply to me, but a shame for any potential future brides that wanted to have their wedding there....

Hey guys- well, this one just knocks everything else out of the park.... EDR is now requiring new brides to pay a $500 vendor fee AND pay a 3 night min stay for their photog at the resort- in order to bring in their own photographer.
Essentially, they are now charging an approx $1,250 fee-- the cheapest rooms at EDR for single occupancy run around $250/night.... This is truly unbelievable.... This is the email correspondence from the EDR WC that I had regarding this new policy.
Hi Valeria-- wait-- this link you sent me to the website states the
following:
"Outside photographers and videographers are not allowed on property unless
pre-approved by the hotel in advance. The hotels reserve the right to deny
access to the property to any unauthorized photographer or videographer.
Please contact your wedding coordinator for more information on approved
vendors. Outside photographers and videographers approved by the hotel will
incur a $500 photo fee and a 3 night minimum stay at the hotel. "
We were told we had to pay a $500 outside vendor fee. The way this sounds.
is the requirement is a --$500 vendor fee AND a 3 night stay at
hotel?!?!!?!? -- We were not told that we would have to book a room at the
resort for the photographer. The photographer is local and doesn't need a
room. This wasn't in our original agreement.
Could you clarify on this?
Valerie's response:
Hi Shannon,
This is correct, I will honour for you the 500 usd fee for the photographer,
since this was stipulated with you before this policy began to be active.
For all the new weddings, if they wish to bring an outsider photographer,
they will have to pay a 500 usd fee + 3 minimum night stay.
I apologize for me to be the one informing you of this new policy, but the
Hotel demands for us to inform each bride of this new policy.
Thanks.
My response:
Hey Valeria--- thanks for clarifying this up for me. I know it's not your "fault" - your are just enforcing what the resort/Karisma asks you too.
It's just a shame, bc it will definitely affect a bride's decisions- there are too many other "wedding" resorts in the Cancun/RM area that don't have this stipulation that the bride will choose over EDR, bc of this. Photography is too important for the bride, to leave it to a resort photographer. $500 plus a 3 night min- would be an approx $1,250 "fee"! -- I would certainly go with another resort, if this policy applied to me- if I was just now deciding between resorts. I hope you guys are able to pass some feedback to the people that make these decisions.
Thanks again, for all your help, and I am thankful this doesn't apply to me, and I am able to relax and be excited about my wedding at EDR-- you've been great.

We are doing a private dinner on the beach the following night as a "thank you/send off" dinner (this is guest's last night on resort)....
Valeria has been really great with me. I had a freakout today under another thread when I thought they were charging me $500 for outside photographer AND a 3 night stay for photog- but Valeria cleared that up... I've basically been on this forum and found out what other's were doing and asked Valeria about it and then sent her pictures off the internet of what I wanted in regards to the cake, decorations, setup and she has responded to those and given pricing, etc...
I was thinking- is Monica and Valeria the only 2 WCs? If so, with the amount of weddings EDR has, sounds like they must be super busy!-- I've been really really happy with Valeria.... -

ooh -yummy-- I will definitely have to try that one out-- might have to "steal" your drink! Thanks for posting!

This is more in regards to the new post on EDR's/Karisma's website about the $500 vendor fee AND 3 nights min-- I got my response from Valeria... Thank goodness! I will just ensure that I am keeping all my emails now!
Hi Shannon,
This is not a problem I meant with status, about the photographers documents
(RFC, and taxes) if you had any questions or if they had any questions about
this new policy. Do not hesitate and contact me.
With the 500 usd fee + taxes documents this will be more than enough !
If any doubt arises, please, do not hesitate to contact me, I will be more
than happy to assist you.
Sincerely Yours,

We are having one photographer from Cancun Studios come on the resort on 5/16 for 6 hours to photograph our wedding, dinner, reception. We are paying the $500 vendor fee to the resort to have her come on the resort. She has the proper documentation ready to show resort when she arrives, that is in accordance with the gov't working regulations...
Is there any other information you need?!?!
Thanks, Valeria!!

I'm not paying a $500 outside vendor fee and a 3 night stay at resort.
My photographer is "Cancun Studios" -they don't need a room- how retarded would that be? Plus, I know the resort is booked the weekend I'm getting married bc a few guests tried to book last minute...
I just emailed Valeria for some clarification. The original agreement I had with her, was the $500 outside vendor fee, and I'm not doing anything above that. I will pay the vendor fee and the photographer will have the appropriate gov't paperwork. I am "scheduled" to give the resort over $6K for the wedding stuff this Friday--- I do not want to be forced to do something drastic, but I will not do both- the 3 nights and the $500 fee.

we have lots of BDW brides getting married at EDR in April and May- I so can't wait to see all the pix!!
We should meet for drinks at the pool since we'll be there the same time! -
I am so sorry.. -- this is so frustrating- and I think that link they posted on the Karisma website is new- I know it wasn't there a month or so ago.... Please keep us updated!

I guess I should have mentioned- we are using Cancun Studios- so they are already in Mexico.. -
Valeria has sent me several emails on this--- evidently the resort has been sanctioned for not going by the regulations in the past......
Hi Shannon,
Perfect, please remember they should present to the On site wedding coordinator the legal paperwork, provided by the Mexican Government in order to provide this services, is called in Spanish (RFC)
This is important since the Hotel has been sanctioned for not paying taxes for this outsider providers services.
thanks.-
If any doubt arises, please, do not hesitate to contact me, I will be more than happy to assist you.

LOVE LOVE Old Navy!! I bet 70% of my wardrobe is Old Navy!!! Thanks for the post!!
-
You know- I hated my dress when I saw the pictures after my first fitting- but I love it after the 2nd--- I was really pale and needed to lose a few lbs and just not happy with my overall appearance in the first one- it wasn't the dress as much---- so with that being said- I'd take a few days and then go back and try it one and see if you STILL hate is as much----- I'm sure you look amazing in it!
But I do agree with the other girls-- wear what you feel beautiful and comfortable in!! It's your day!!
and post pix!! :):)
