Minimum night stay for guests?
Birdie07 replied to Shenmaat's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Theres no minimum. My Mom actually didn't get there till the wedding even started. And she left 2 days later. So I'm sure its not a problem. -

Outer envelope return address?
Birdie07 replied to Jentwo's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I went off etiquette. I printed labels with a seashell. The label was clear and the font looked super pretty. I used the seashell on the address being sent. Then I used a smaller label for the return address on the back flap. -
They do have coffee at all the restaurants for breakfast not to mention down by the stage. If its too much and makes your suitcase too heavy just make your FI run down haahaha thats what I did

Just wanted to say that the free package does not come with an aisle runner as the picture shows so you'd have to upgrade it.

I totally wore my dress at dinner. I didn't have that long to change b/c everything got pushed back and I got married at 4:30 pictures till 5:15. Ran up to get my mom to her room. And then it was dinner. But I still wouldn't of changed. I loved feeling like a bride in my dress. Plus we took pictures of cutting the cake and I wanted to be in my dress for that. But whatever you want to do you should. It's YOUR Wedding not anyone elses!

I had something new be my dress, something blue was my garter, something borrowed was a necklace that was my aunt who passed away and something old was a real pearl bracelet that belonged to my grandma and both my sisters wore it in their weddings.

Who read your sand ceremony?
Birdie07 replied to Heidi's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
We had our officiant read ours. He had our mothers come up and pour sand at the beginning then we did our vow and then we poured the rest together. It just flowed with the ceremony. Everyone that came had a part. My dad walked me down the aisle. My mom and mil did the sand. My FI cousin was his best man and my fil was a witness. -
Hmm..I didn't use anything different. I remembered my sister went on like a 2 week hunt for perfume. She finally found one and spent a buttload of money. She got home and had her husband smell it and he said he wanted her to smell like she always did and what he loved. I asked my FI and he said the same. So I ended up going with what I always wear and that is Moonlit path by bath and body works. But you could always go into sephora or a department store and try some out and see what you like.

Think I found my Dress
Birdie07 replied to JessicaM's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I agree. It is so comfy. I didn't want to take it off. It travels so easy too! And the pictures don't do it justice I agree. Good luck with your choosing. All of them are beautiful! -
Think I found my Dress
Birdie07 replied to JessicaM's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
HEY! I think your first dress is the one I wore. Is it DB Galina?? If so I would totally recommend it. It is so light I didn't get hot. It doesn't wrinkle easily. Its great!! It looks great on you too!! The third one is beautiful too. My vote is 1 and 3!! -
We stayed in the regular wing and had an actual metal key..it was wierd there was no doorknob well there was one really low in the middle of the door for decoration but the actual door opened with the key you turned and pushed. But my guests who stayed in the deluxe (junior suite) wing had key cards.

Contact the office in the state where you were born and request a certified copy of your birth certificate. I actually ordered mine online and got it in 7 days. -
Riu Brides, Question about menu's/menu cards...
Birdie07 replied to JUSTUSTWO's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
Haha it's b/c I read the top post first. And it said placecards and menus and then didn't read yours where it said place SETTINGS. Hahah oops -
I agree with you Albianstar...I gave each guest a disposable camera in hopes extra pics would be good. Almost all those turned out too dark b/c of sunset. Michael did let everyone in my party take pictures with him. He would count ready everyone..1..2...3 and they'd all take it. It was hilarious. He was amazing to work with. I did have my FI's cousin he took about 300 pics with his camera. And they were AMAZING also. (He still hasn't GIVEN us these pics GRRRR) I would just let Michael take the pictures and if you don't like them don't get them. But you are paying 150 and you get 10 pictures. Who knows you may LOVE them.

I answered your question on the other post. FYI.

Riu Brides, Question about menu's/menu cards...
Birdie07 replied to JUSTUSTWO's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
Haha I"m sorry I thought you meant place cards. My bad. Yes there were place settings. Plates set up on wooden chargers. Wine glasses...water glasses...3 forks and such. I'm so sorry I thought you meant place cards. YiKES! -
When we ate at our restaurant before our reception the linen was white with a blue table runner. On our wedding reception night it was all white. I don't know about renting it or something. But I would bet they have different colors. I would just ask Chandlyn.

Well, if you stay in the resort and don't go on any outings I think you'll be fine. I never felt like I had to tip and neither did any of my guests. Now if you feel like someone deserved one you are welcome to tip. But they aren't rude, pushy and they do NOT ask for one. If you don't tip they aren't suddenly rude with you, they still give you GREAT service. Now if you leave the resort you are not in an all-inclusive atmosphere anymore. You are in Jamaica with people who aren't being paid. When we went to Dunn's River it was worse. We got off the bus and were suddenly hounded. Someone put beads on our neck and the demanded 5 dollars. Then we walked a step and someone said we NEEDED water. So we bough water. Then we had a guy try to follow us into the park with a wooden turtle!! Once we got in we found out it'd be hard to carry water up a waterfall. Stupid lady. Then there is a tour guide shack. You do NOT need a tour guide. We did fine on our own. But they just want you to pay them. Then leaving some guy yelled that he recognized us and that the bus was this way. And it wasn't. They just wanted us to buy stuff from them. So yes if you leave the resort the locals are going to try to get you to buy stuff from them. Just like other third world countries who have tourism as their major flow of income. But if you stay in the resort you will be fine. Noone will hound you. But I would say do bring extra money if you want souvenirs and such. In the afternoon/evening they let some vendors set up in front of one of the restaurants. But they don't call out to shop their. They only speak to you if you want to purchase something. So you don't even have to leave the resort to get locally made crafts.

Riu Brides, Question about menu's/menu cards...
Birdie07 replied to JUSTUSTWO's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
I had my reception at the Mammee Bay. THey did make it semi private by putting us in the corner and then not placing people near us. and since everytime we went there there was not alot of ppl eating there. The menus we got were the same menus we received when we weren't a wedding party. They were not specialy printed or anything. Our orders actually did not take as long as when we ate their as a regular guest. They might of sped it up b/c we were a wedding. But we ate our salad and soup and fruit bar while waiting so it was fine. Oh, there were no place settings. They did have a number on the tables. I thought of stealing it but didn't. Haha. Hope that helps. -
I actually have pictures of the Bahia if I can find it. We actually picked some people up from that resort and I might have pictures of the other one too. One of them didn't look that great from the outside. Let me find the pictures for you though.

ROR - how to best hand out my guest's favours...?
Birdie07 replied to jmhein's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
I'm sure you would be fine at a buffet breakfast. The tour companies that do do (haha not referring to s*) orientation do it over by the stage that is deserted during the day. I would just put a bunch of tables together and do it. The waiters will always help you do that. THey did for us a few times. -
DJ & Photog at the ROR - payment terms...
Birdie07 replied to chicago88's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
Yep. Michael does take credit card. We asked if he took AE and the lady said yes and went to run it. Took her 45 minutes of us waiting for her to get it to work. She came back with the card we gave her another she came back for the AE took it and finally got it to work. I'm not sure what the problem was. But it was a tad annoying. She said "Usuallly I run it once and it doesnt work and I run it again and it works." Weird! -

And hey raining on your wedding day is good luck!!!! -

Nope, when you get married you sign your marriage license and that's the legal fees you pay. If you have the free wedding the fee for the officiant and marriage license is 200 bucks. They get the license for you. No worries.
