  1. Thanks, Kelly. And yes..I am ALWAYS wanting to share pics of The Fab Four, akh. Heres my crew! I'll just post the siggy pics in full color..sorry so HUGE..I don't know how to resize..if one of you mods can do it, please do! And heres us!
  2. A year it is then! Thanks ladies. I LOVE your Boarding Pass cards, Jessica. I've been planning to do that too, but hadn't thought of including seperate passes with all the info on them! Nice!!
  3. Anyone heard of or worked with these people?
  4. I'm sure this has been asked tons of times, but I did a search and can't find it. What timeline do I use to send things out? We're working on design and such and I just want to be able to send them out with PLENTY of notice for those with budgets and demanding schedules to able to attend. Ideally, I'd really love to give them a full year. Thats what I would need personally. We plan to send out postcards periodically..maybe every 3 months leading up to the wedding. Just fun little things that will serve as reminders. Sunglasses, sunblock, visors, that sort of thing. But need to know when to send the formal stuff.
  5. I'd wondered what everyone else was doing. Great thread. We have quadruplets...ya, you read right. hahahaha. We are parents 24/7 and know that even with the relatives attending, we won't be able to "shut off" the parenting extinct. Our crew just turned 2 last month, and will still only be 3 by the time of the wedding. I don't want to be worried about things.."Have they been fed? Where are they? Are they into something they shouldn't be? Are they too close to the water? Are they crying for me?". And I want our guests..even the close family members who WOULD happily care for them, to be able to just enjoy themselves. So no, we aren't bringing them. They will attend the legal ceremony we have...because we want them to at least have a semi-understanding about whats happening and to be included as a family thing. We're not having it done at the courthouse or justice of the peace, we're having our pastor do it in his office as if it were a regular impromptu ceremony because we want him to be the one to marry us legally. Besides, thats going to save us about another 1500+ in airfare alone.
  6. We picked ours for a couple of reasons. a.) we knew we needed at least a year to plan and allow everyone to be there. April of '08 wouldn't have given us enough time, but we wanted April for the weather conditions there b.) I hate being hot, and didn't want to be all sweaty in my gown and pics. c.)we originally picked the first weekend in April, but it was Easter weekend and the prices were almost double due to spring break and the holiday. So we pushed it back two weeks and tada! 4.25.09 In a way I hate its so far away. But for other reasons, I think its perfect.
  7. The description says "shell". The swirl pattern almost looks like a clam shell and for the price, I'd assume its authentic. I dunno....I'll hit the jeweler this next week or so. Or have Billy ask when he goes to get my stone mounted. He bought them seperate...says he has no confidence in his ability to pick out something I'll have to wear the rest of my life. hahaha

So, perhaps just buy the set, take it to a jewler and have them RE-set it in gold? Hmm... The only problem with buying a gold chain for it is that the backing and loop are silver as well. They only have the necklace in stock right now..so maybe I'll buy that, have it plated and see how I like it or if it can even be done. Then go from there. Ugh.
  9. How exciting! Getting to actually SEE the spot you'll be married in. I'm so jealous! Congrats on finding your place.
  10. Ya...I spoke with them earlier..sterling silver only. I Googled "gold plating" though and it looks like maybe..just maybe I could get that done. I guess its an option if my heart is just truly set on this piece. They are out of stock on the bracelet too dangit. They say I'll have to check back at the end of October to see if they found anymore on their buying trips. Ugh. Figures..just my luck. If anyone see's anything even remotely similar to these, can you please remember me?
  11. I know I've got TONS of time to do all this...but I'd rather get everything picked out now, so that all I have to do is collect things and pay for them. I found what I think is THE perfect necklace and bracelet to go with my dress. They are unusual and just what I had in mind to lend a kind of Mayan Princessy thing to my look. Problem is, the chain and mounting are in silver and my accent color is gold. The pic LOOKED gold to me...then I see the description with only silver listed. I just can't find anything else even remotely like it. The necklace is two sided..I could wear either and it would pick up the chocolate/latte` color we're using as well as well as the creamy ivory. What can I do here?? I can't imagine any way to get the metal gold......here they are.
  12. Alright, Billy and all the guys are wearing the same pants...off white/ivory drawstring. Here. Here are the groomsmen shirts. The color they will be in is a light tan called "natural". And heres a link to Billy's shirt. The site won't let you copy the image. We're having it died ivory to match the pants. : Gallery
  13. I'm going with one of the Ebay suppliers like a few others are. Designer dresses without the bridal shop markup. Its fantastic. My dress ordinarily is $700, but I'm getting it for $409. We have kids and I'm not trying to go bankrupt doing this whole shebang. I'd rather minimize expenses whenever possible and spend the real cash on our honeymoon. But then, I'm one of those brokeass brides.
  14. Oh, here is the BM dress. They will be in latte`. The knee length style.
  15. Alright...here goes. I had one of those "moments" when I seen this dress. Its actually my second choice, but when I saw it I just knew this was It. It has a chiffon overlay, so I'm hoping it really catches that Caribbean breeze. Hope it looks bridal, but still beach.
  16. Our coordinator's company will take care of a lot of the flowers for the chapel. In addition to that, a wedding decorator friend of mine has offered to do the some silk arrangements for the outside of the chapel, entryway, aisle and so forth. However it just seems silly to me to buy a $300 wedding bouquet when I just want a small hand tied bouquet. Am I dreaming to think I can get one for less than this?
  17. I'm no help unfortunately. I have "trust" issues when it comes to hair and makeup. I figure nobody is gonna know how I like me to look...except for me. hahaha... I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned it (probably), but maybe try the salon at the resort.
  18. Thanks, ladies. I just love it here already. I joined a couple of wedding forums where NO one seemed to post but me. Its good to be in such a friendly, active place.
  19. Hey everyone! I'm so excited about stumbling upon your group here. Looks like you've got some incredible ladies here, and I can't wait to get to know some of you. My name is Savannah, and my fiance` Bill and I will be married in Tulum on 4.25.09...its good to see some other '09 brides, it seems like it makes it more "real" ya know? It can seem really far away at times, but I know I'm right to start planning now. We're getting married in the beach chapel at a small resort. We're pretty simple people, and I just didn't like the idea of doing it at one of the mega-resorts even though they are beautiful and the weddings always turn out so spectacular. I like the idea of intimacy and semi-privacy, so we're doing it at the Maya Tankah. Only 115 rooms I believe. The beach chapel is GORGEOUS and the resort itself has a real rustic charm and is very low key. Hope to "meet" you all soon. Savannah
