  1. Just wondering how much you paid for your TTD dress for those of you that chose to get a second gown? I'm on the fence. On the one hand, I don't much care if my wedding gown is "ruined". But on the other, I'm thinking that getting a second gown is a valid excuse to be able to wear TWO dresses that I really like instead of having to just pick one, ya know? So, I kind of decided to go ahead and get a second dress, if I could find it cheap so I started browsing the Ebay manufacturers....I figure if it isn't perfect, so what, its the TTD dress. BUT, the more I looked the more I found some gowns that I sorta liked, but the ones that I REALLY liked are still several hundred bucks. Figures. I never pick the cheap stuff even when I'm trying dammit. SO, I guess the real question is for those of you on a budget more or less who got a second dress, how much did you pay for it? I see some that are pretty..beautiful in fact, that you can get for under $200. But the one isn't one of them.

I guess I'd prefer to stay close if not in Tulum.
  3. Just to follow up on what I said earlier, I gotta tell you I did this just last night. I have no idea why, but i went to the "accomodations" page here and literally pulled up each and every resort in the threads and took a look at their wedding stuff. I spent about an hour doing it, then went back over my choices site, photos and info. I still saw the reasons why I picked it, and the pros out numbered the cons. There IS a reason why we pick what we do...its a big decision and deep inside, your head knows it and doesn't choose lightly. Focus on Moon Palace...if you see somethingthat strikes you as something you just dont want to deal with, then fine. But otherwise, I think you'll find that you made the right decision for yourself. Just relax and enjoy this time.
  4. Theres another link discussing him a little some where. If I find it, I'll post. The understanding is that Miguel is Claudia Rodriguez's husband. He's always done the videography aspect for couples, but we're wondering if he is starting to do photography as well. I would probably as your WC for clarification. He does EXCELLENT videography work. That much I know.
  5. Not yet, but I'm planning to! I called them and found out that they are actually in my state and not that far from me, so if something goes wrong, I am fully capable of driving to their doorstep and beating the living crap outta someone. (hehe) I'm just trying to choose between two dresses. Both Maggie's....and ofcourse NONE of the shops in my area have either one of them for me to try on. Sucks. I just know if I could get a look at myself in either of them, it would make it "click" in my head. I'm going to call some shops in St. Louis tomorrow..its about an hour and a half away, but would be worth the drive to get a live and in person look at these dresses. I'll keep ya posted.
  6. Ah, man! A TTD shoot at the ruins would be incredible. Shoot. Well, if anyone knows of someone who did it, albeit how no-no it was, I'd love to see the pics. I'm not condoning it, but I bet its gorgeous. On another note, I'm wondering....."trash" is a relative term isn't it? I mean, its sand and water....I'm hoping that if we choose to do this, I can 'save' the dress at a professional cleaners I'm not planning to wear a very ornate dress....
  7. OK, BeachBride, I need your real name....I can't believe I don't know it, we post together all the time! My man has started calling me "Golum"..you know, that thing from Lord of the Rings who was obsessed with the ring? hahahahhaaha..he told me last night "You cannot have the ring back, Golum. I know its your precious, but you can't have it right now."
  8. Anyone have any suggestions? We're thinking of having a simple cocktail/dinner reception after the ceremony and doing the formal reception back home a few weeks later to include all the people who won't make it. Anyone have an experience or know of a good restaurant setting for this?
  9. First and foremost...this is nothing to make yourself sick about! As women we're raised dreaming and planning our Big Day almost from birth. Thats a lot of pressure and expectations. But the bottom line is this. You are marrying your best friend, and at the end of the day, theres not too much that can change that. You're getting married amongst the most beautiful surroundings on earth doing it in the Riviera Maya. The building standing behind you isn't the most important thing. Think of all the reasons why you chose Moon Palace. And don't look at anything else, unless something comes up that makes you SERIOUSLY think something wouldn't be right there. Everyone says HAPPY planning...and thats just what we should all be doing. Enjoying this time, because its the first last and only time most of us can say "We're planning our destination wedding." Don't sweat the small stuff, and beyond marrying your fiance` EVERYthing is small stuff.
  10. This place has been a real treasure for me. You're gonna love it! Happy planning!

I opened it and it was a box in a box in a box all the way down to the ring box. I opened the ring box and it was empty! I looked up at him and he had the ring in his hand and asked me to marry him...it was cute ) Aww..that IS cute! That sounds like a perfect proposal to me. I'm not one to make a huge public fuss about it and that has the perfect blend of sentiment and romance! My birthday is Nov. 20 and I've been wondering if he's trying to hold out til then, but I don't know. I keep trying to just forget about it, but geez, thats impossible! I WANT THAT RING!
  12. Eeeee! I'm so excited and its just pics for the engagement! Found a very good photographer here locally who is going to take us to a few different venues and shoot our engagement photos Nov.4! I'm SO hoping we get some good shots (I hate almost every picture ever taken of me). Was anyone else this worked up over just taking e-pics? Part of it, I know, is that he still wants to "officially" propose. We talked about getting married for so long, its just kind of been understood. When we decided to set a date, it was because he said he wanted to do it in Mexico and for that, I knew we would need time. He let me pick my own setting, but picked the stone himself. I know he just had it mounted, even though he is refusing to let me see the finished product. He's really determined to suprise me....so I know he's frustrated trying to come up with a way to do it. Funny how men get....he's so serious about it and doesn't want me to even MENTION the big "P" word cuz he says he can't do it if he knows I've guessed what he's planning. He told me to book the session, and then gave me this "don't say a word" look. hahaha..We shall seeeeeeee!
  13. I've seen the name (and just Googled him to make sure), but its always associated with videography. Is that what they suggested him for? In fact, the site his name is listed under takes you to Claudia Rodriguez if you click "wedding photography". Looks to me like he handles the video aspect for her company, but I could definitely be wrong.

  15. And something else to think about, ladies....depending on if you want to go to the expense (which you'll likely spend money taking them regardless), but most wedding coordinators seem to be ok with couples shipping things down ahead of time. Depending on weight or whatever, that may be more feasible for some than others in terms of expense. But it is something to think about. Saves you a lot of hassle at the airport leaving during an already stressful (but happy)time.
  16. I'm sure most of you gals are on the subscription list for The Knotshop, but just in case no one has seen this, they are having a HUGE sale til Oct. 16. 17. Aww, thanks ladies. The way to every mother's heart is through compliments about her kids! hahaha Oh, Michelle...I'm a firm believer that God never gives you any more than you can handle. Its not nearly as difficult as one might think. In fact, the older they get, the more I see the benefits of kind of..getting it all over with in one shot! Yes, they are "a handful", but a fun one. By far, the best thing I've done (or ever will) with my life. I feel blessed they picked me for a mommy. If y'all enjoy seeing their lil' faces, that does my heart good, and I'll be sure to keep the pics coming!
  18. Hmm..great advice, Tammy. Very good questions I need to be asking myself. If it were here, then no problem. I wouldn't even think twice. My mom has done several special events and she always ends up having numerous people come calling afterward asking if she is for hire. Then I have a friend (another of my bridesmaids) who does cakes and flowers for weddings. Add to them my matron of honor who could act as linguist .... between the three of them, with my creative input, I know they would have things nailed down tight. But thousands of miles away, what can we do? I may try to find a compromise. It would be wonderful to find someone who in terms of following up with vendors we contact and bookl. Ha! Sounds like I need to be marrying The Donald instead of my loveable FI. If there is anything like what I'm looking for out there, I'm pretty sure it comes under a different name than coordinator.
  19. Well, we've decided to send out the STD's late January-early February. Thats a little over a year early (fourteen months), but we come from simple folk who don't have thousands sitting in the bank to hop a plane. The majority of our guests will need the time to save and get the time off work approved. Add the complication of passports, and we really think its best to send them as early as feasible. We are going to do reminder postcards. I'm going to start buying different post cards with beach photos (y'all know the ones..those cards that make you wanna climb in the pic? haha) and we'll send those out periodically with little blurbs like "7 months til the wedding. How's that passport coming along?" and include (again) the info for where they can start the process for it. Hopefully people will think its cute as long as we don't overdue it with the reminding. lol
  20. I'm not even sure I'm posting this in the right place. If its not, mods please do move it. I'm about an inch away from booking caterer, photographer, videographer, and baker all seperately. I'm starting to wonder whether or not I'll need a coordinator at all, as now I'm wondering what they will do? Being a go between for us with the resort would be nice, but my matron of honor is from the Dominican Republic and fluent in Spanish, so she's already been making some of our calls for us. I know...organization is key, and having someone on site to oversee the flow of events is priceless, I'm sure. I'm just wondering, since the coordinators I originally scoped out, even though I liked them (I've considered two different teams), I just wasn't satisfied with everything across the board in terms of services. Either the price was great, but the I didn't like the photography, or the photographer was good, but I didn't like the catering options or something. Always a mismatch. Any advice would be great. Did anyone do this and NOT use a coordinator? If so, what was your experience, and would you do it differently if you could?
  21. Just wanted to post a link as I have seen nothing but rave reviews for this place. I'm seriously considering having them do my mini-reception. Page Title
  22. Just wondering what the definitive answer is for bringing water bottles on the flight (I'm thinking of doing this for the OOT room bags. I'm assuming that its ok to "check" them as long as you aren't bringing them into the flight cabin with you? Also wondering what everyone is doing as far as bringing them with, or purchasing/saving them while you're down there? We'll only be on site for 2 days prior to our wedding, so I'm not sure what we should do. Thanks in advance. I love this place!
  23. Do they work with whatever hotel you choose?
  24. Need some advice here. Whose the best "value". Who to stay away from?
