  1. I want to, but have no idea where to start in terms of finding one. Hopefully someone will chime in here.
  2. I came across this and thought it might be helpful for some who want to do a newsletter or put together some helpful tips to go into OT bags. Its a cure for Montezuma's Revenge...the bacterial sickness many foreigners get while traveling in Mexico due to the water. Simple, and should be easy to lay hands on the only two necessary ingredients. Got it from the owners of a beach villa we are thinking of renting for our honeymoon..they claim its fail safe and always works within two tries. Simple: Juice of two fresh limes w/ a "generous" pinch of salt. Mix, then down it like a shot. You should feel "Much" better within 2 hrs, if the mixture doesn't alleviate your symptoms withing 6 hrs, then repeat. Also a few tips to avoid it: Integrate yogurt into your diet daily for a couple of weeks prior to your trip. The "good" bacteria in the yogurt will combat the "bad" bacteria you may intake in Mexico Use the dispenser water, (these are everywhere, including most public restaurant bathrooms), or bottled water for EVERYthing, including quick hand washing for meals and brushing your teeth. Wash your hands often, and carry some anti-bacterial gel with you. Charcoal pills. These can generally be ordered online as well as acidophilus, the old standby to help your body combat any bacteria introduced to the stomach. Many locals also swear by drinking Guava juice for "icky" tummies. Its reported to "work like a charm". Also much easier to tolerate than lime juice, though possibly not quite as effective. Grapefruit seed extract. The ever popular Immodium. Though this does nothing to "cure" the bacterial infection, it does mask some of the more unpleasant symptoms. Pepto- not always effective for everyone, it coats the stomach. Its advised to use something else to actually combat the bacteria in the system. The "official" Revenge comes with fever as well as the diarrhea. Diarrhea alone may simply be your body adjusting to different diet and overindulgence. This happens a LOT with the advent of all inclusive resorts. Normally, this adjustment period will last only a 12-24 hrs. True Montezuma's Revenge takes hold and can last up to 7 days. Hope this helps!
  3. I'm having the same problem..but with children. Sorry. Couldn't help m'self. Carry on.
  4. Ab.so.LUTELY amazing!! Hotter than I don't know what and beautiful in every way! Congrats on a great session! Looks like Vincent is the bomb.
  5. Just wanted to let everyone know that they are having a fantabulous sale right now. I was in there today (unscheduled) and picked up so cute little initialed notebooks (for a buck a piece) for my bm's, a couple of medium sized bags of seashells, and even heart shaped bottle for the sand ceremony and some wide sheer metallic ribbon I want to use to wrap the tent poles. All that and I didn't even spend $25. They have more, but I was in a hurry and not even supposed to be in there. I had no idea they even had so much beach themed stuff, some of y'all may have already known, but just wanted to give ya a heads up.
  6. Welcome aboard! I'm so glad to finally be seeing some other brides who are getting married around the same time as we are!! I've been on the site for a few months now, and its so exciting to see all the wonderful things these ladies come up with. Everyone here is SO helpful. You're just gonna love it, and I'm guaranteeing you that your wedding experience will be a happier one just visiting this board. Oh, my date is 4.25.09!! Great meeting another April '09 bride!

I wish i didn't spend $6.50 last night on silk petals, but I can just sprinkle them on the tables of my AHR. My WC is awesome answering all my random questions. I just realized I can't wait to meet her & put a face to the emails. As usual Morgan, your info helps me tremendously. The $10 per bag, is that from the resort or where are you getting them?
  8. Oh! I just found a place that makes them custom according to your color specs on Ebay. Here's the link...BEACH SEASHELL WEDDING BRIDAL FLOWER FLORAL BOUQUET - eBay (item 180210138884 end time Feb-23-08 08:18:26 PST)
  9. Don't worry about "wierd"...you're having a destination wedding, so things can be outside the box! I think its lovely, and would keep with the theme of your event. But at the end of the day its about you being happy, so if you don't think you'll be ok with having used it, then you can perhaps get a traditional one and use this one to carry after the ceremony? I just think using something different can be an elegant and memorable thing! I'm buying a seashell bouquet that I found online. I'll post a pic/link if I can come up with it. Kids are running around drivin me crazy. Here it is.
  10. I'm in the same boat. I have 2 yr old quadruplets running around all hours of my day, so theres no way I can do this stuff myself. I'm gonna put some feelers out there to a few of the DIY queens.
  11. Oh, Lizz..its gorgeous! It really is. A touch of traditional with a dash of beach wedding. I'm glad you decided to go with your gut and get your heart's desire!
  12. Stormsong- seriously? Wow, I'd never heard of such a thing! How does it work exactly, since not only are there no prices for hotel this far in advance, but also the air. I assume they just started a file for you and started taking payments toward whatever the final costs would be. Were your accomodations actually booked that far in advance, as in a room reserved?
  13. Yes, Dina it helps a LOT. Thank you so much for the info. I am planning to write some things down to remember to touch on when I speak with them again. Thanks again!
  14. You are heaven sent. Been looking for something I could buy in bulk to scatter on the reception tables. Perfect. Thanks!!

I'm gonna call her and clarify today, Morgan. I need to know if I understood her wrong, or if for some reason its different here. I can't imagine it would be, but I don't know. I mean, a charter flight wouldn't JUST contain people from our group, so I don't know why their wouldn't be one that a handful of us couldn't take advantage of. Bah!
  16. My understanding was that the charater price is cheaper. She was specific about quoting "..thats for charter." and i would hope that all these stipulations netted us a better price, if not I won't bother. I doubt we'll be able to go charter anyway as our guests are all over this state and a couple of others. No one is leaving out of the same airport. I imagine it will only be us, my mom and step dad and my sisters leaving out of the same airport.
  17. I'm just gonna keep this agency in mind, and keep looking around. I honestly feel like, hearing about your experience Morgan, there may be better options. Not so much pricing wise, cuz whatever will be will be sounds like. But definitely in the amount of "extra mile" they offer. Is your agency out of S.C.?
  18. Morgan- ya, she mentioned that thus far, she didn't think the hotel was offering anything for room blocks. I BELIEVE what she said about a charter flight was either up to or less than 20 people. Which one of those sounds right to you? I'm not sure of anything yet, but I do know we'll have probably at least 20, but how many of those leaving out of the same airport? I don't know. I am just beginning to get an idea of how tough it can be to put something together that everyone is comfortable with. Even looking at 3-5-7 night packages, there were so many restrictions on what days people could leave. Even with us going for 7 or 8 nights, we will likely have to change our plans some based on when we can leave out. And we hadn't planned on having to leave TOGETHER with everybody else. Looks like I have some more thinking to do. I just need to sit down with the next TA and go through my growing list of questions. Thanks again ladies.
  19. Alright, thats info that helps to even out my thinking. Thanks Morgan and Foxy. What about price drops? Do your TA's adjust for that? Sounds like yours doesn't Foxy, but Morgan, do I remember you saying something once about your TA applying any price drops that happened after you booked? I just want to know what I can look for in a an agent and what should make me bipass someone and keep shopping around. If its standard procedure to be "stuck" once you book as far as a rate or how it works.
  20. I've been checking around, trying to find out whats what in terms of travel agents in my area. We're still over 14 months out, so I'm not trying to book anything as there is nothing TO be booked yet with no rates available. But I wanted to have just an idea of what rates might look like this time next year, so I contacted a local agency and asked one of the agents to basically simulate a booking for the trip for us, using the same specifics as we will next year as if we were going THIS year. Two weeks after Easter, 3, 5 and 7 night packages, looking into charter flights as well if available out of the airport the majority of us will be leaving from. OK, so she gets back to me a minute ago and gives me the numbers. Fine. Pricey, but I expected as much with this almost being February already. When she said "these are with seats going pretty fast", I said "Right, with it being so close already to the date. I imagine those numbers would come down a nice chunk if we pull this together and everyone starts booking as soon as rates are available. She said "Not necessarily." I don't get that. I'm sure its not a hard and fast rule, but I've always thought that booking ANYthing for a trip, you get better rates if you book earlier. I also forgot to ask her if their agency applies rate drops, but I'd have thought she would have mentioned it if that were the case. So, am I just backward? Explain this to me. I need to understand so I'm not thinking incorrectly as we embark on this.
  21. OK, you have officially depressed me. lol. Good stuff!
  22. Thanks for posting that link, Polly! I think I've found my AHR dress on that sellers site! A size too big, but thats no biggie, I can take it to the same seamstress thats altering my gown! Thanks again, they have great stuff.
  23. Jamie Foxx has a song he wrote for his daughter called "Heaven". Its about how God wakes up one morning to realize he's missing an angel, and its because she was sent here to be his baby girl and how heaven will never be the same. Its beautiful. Would be very appropriate for a wedding if anyone wants to check it out. Here are the lyrics: Tell me have you heard the story That took place not long ago About an angel up in heaven They say she up and ran away from home They say she had unfinished business So back to earth she had to flee And you know I'm so elated Because she's standing right here right next to me And when God woke up that morning And He called out her name And when she didn't answer Heaven would never ever ever be the same At times it seems we take for granted How precious life can be Open your heart and I'm sure you'll understand Bringing into this world A precious boy or a girl And when God woke up that morning And said, "Where did my little angel go?" And when she didn't answer Heaven will never ever ever be, heaven will never be the same.
  24. I fear that anything you say, no matter how tactful, will cause hard feelings. For that reason, a tiny lie won't hurt. Just say the shop you want to go to is really busy and appointments are scarce, so you have to go whenever they can get you in...and conveniently make it a sudden thing, or whenever you know she CAN'T go. lol. I'm terrible, but thats what I would do. I actually love TiffJT's idea of just saying you already found The Dress and had to snatch it up before it was too late or whatever. Don't feel bad...this is totally understandable and its about YOUR DAY!
