Joanna- holy smokes, I got bored tonight and actually stumbled across Ivan's flickr page--I JUST SAW YOUR TEASERS THERE then low and behold, I log into BDW and you've posted them! lol How cool is that? They are GORGEOUS! Love the idea of the petals! The colors all really "pop"..just fantastic. Congrats on a couple of great teasers. If these are any indication, looks like Ivan hit it out of the park! Enjoy your honeymoon! Oh, and heres' the link to his flickr page! Flickr: iluckie's Photostream

Legal Day Dress: Found!
BillysBride replied to BillysBride's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Oooooh, red or polka dots...I'm SO feelin' polka dots!!! Why, oh why do I come around here You girls do nothing but send me off into the ether to spend more money.....wenches. LOL-thanks for the inspiration. I'll be back (probably too soon) with shoe ideas:) -
OK, so a friend of mine alerted me to an online listing for this after I described what I was looking for. I've been wanting something kind of 50's classic, simple but feminine...I told her I wanted to be the chocolate Audrey Hepburn for our legal day. LMAO Well--she found it. It's from Talbot's. A size too big, but my lovely mother can take care of that easily. What do you guy's think? I'm thinking some classic white pumps and I'll be good to go?

I'm gonna go ahead and throw this out there, because I do think it deserves consideration. A LOT of knock off's are cheap looking; but not all. I'm pretty sure you could get some great referrals here on the forum from brides who have had knock off dresses custom made and been very happy with the end results. There are a few threads going here in the Wedding Attire forum. It may not be the solution, but it's definitely worth at least looking into. Nothing worse than falling in love with a dress you can't find a way to afford. Good luck!

Second dress
BillysBride replied to saltocoach's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
OK, now that? Is a DRESS! I agree with all the other gals who love it and are of half a mind to hunt one down for ourselves. Looks like this is a Canadian based designer/distributor ladies....(sigh). -
Hmm..I must be odd. I don't keep any of my old boyfriends stuff. I don't have a need. I am VERY well aware of the past mistakes I've made. I have some old wedding photos in ONE album (one of the 4 x 6 kind) and I keep it because it's photos of my first wedding and of sentimental value because my father iss gone and he got to walk me down the aisle. Otherwise? I doubt I'd care in all seriousness. I have people tell me all the time that I should keep them for "reflection" and all that noise....aah..don't care to reflect on that portion of life's program. Lived it, done with it, have no need to rehash it. We had a lovely convo about 5 yrs after our split where we put a lot of stuff to rest and to be honest? I'd recommend the guy to a friend-he just wasn't for me and especially not at that point in my life. I don't need pics of our travels together, us enjoying each other, etc to remind me of the lessons I learned, so I'm not sure that argument would hold up if Billy tried to tell ME that mess. I've found old pics/letters. This was EARLY in the relationship when he first moved in, they were boxed in with stuff from his "party" days. He truly didn't realize he had them, and didn't hesitate to not only throw them out, but make a gesture of it to me by throwing them in with some leaves we were burning that day. hahahaha..he said he knows "females" and that he knows that it would probably bug him too so thats why was doing it. He's right. If he wanted to keep stuff from some chick he used to know-there better be a good reason for it. It was dating, not marriage, she's not the mother of his children or something else where he needs images of her to pass on. Theres just no reason for it to me, but I'm notoriously harsh so .....lol.

I have last night's dvr'd...gonna watch it tonight after the kids go down. Sounds like a freakin riot. I do think they get something out of it. I can remember one of the grooms muttering something under his breath about it not being worth it. He was really pissed at the time, and I remember thinking "Oooooh." It really makes sense, because why else would people be willing to embarass themselves ON THE RECORD in front of every Tom, Dick and Harry with a cable connection? lol I always find myself watching saying "I would DIE." lol

Yup, I'd ask for the contract amendment and see what she says. I know with my photog, I changed a bit of the verbage and he was fine with it. He also only did wire transfer or check. I offered PayPal, and he gave me the schpeel about the fee (which I swear for the deposit was so damn minimal I really thought it was a bit ridiculous, but hey..business is business) but whatever. The contract is what I was most concerned about; getting everything in writing.

$$$--where to get it & how to save?!
BillysBride replied to courtney_b00's topic in Just venting or funnies
Biggest thing that has helped us save? Cook at home/eat at home. Seriously, no lie. This has been the first month we seriously dedicated ourselves to doing it and it's made a BIG difference. We just didn't realize how often we were hitting the drive thru-whether it was to pick up something for the fam on the way home, or picking up the phone and dialing all those magical digits that bring food hot and fresh to your door. Plus, RESEARCH. You should have what you want at your wedding, but don't take the first price you come across as the bottom line. Most of the time, I've been able to find EVERYthing we need cheaper than what I initiallly came across it. For instance things flowers/bouquets, things for the OOT bags, ceremony decor....Ebay is your friend. Same thing with Etsy...tons of online suppliers and businesses who are trying to get off the ground and produce AMAZING wedding products for so much less. Even my dress! Found it brand new with the shop tags still on it on Ebay. Got a friend of a friend who is an amazing seamstress to do my alterations...the list goes on and on. You can do it all and have what you want, just at a lower cost if you put some effort into it. The beautiful thing is that planning early allows us that luxury! It's never too early to research and the more you do the more you start to see patterns on things that you can buy for less via private sales, discount stores, etc. -
A.) I can't tell your stomach is swollen at all-so hush! B.) LOVE the dress...that shimmery way it picks up the light is beautiful! C.) You + that dress....gorgeous! I wouldn't even say you HAD to have the bust line lifted. Just do that if you are uncomfortable with the fit right now, but I honestly think it's fine as is!

WOW, I need to call my local and find out if they have the first aid kits in stock! And the condoms...hahaa..I had thought about adding those. Cute packaging for sure. I know the travel section at Wal-Mart "sometimes" has the first aid kits in stock for $.97...but it's real hit or miss. Thanks for posting!

Holy crow...the first year down already? CONGRATS!!

Yea, I think the times when he lags a few days behind are when he's out of town and using his Iphone to respond to emails. I've corresponded with him back and forth quite a bit now, and that seems to be the pattern. He's great about answering questions in DETAIL and even asked me to send him some photos I like so he can get an idea of what we're looking for/expecting. He did more than that--he actually broke down how each photo was done using what lense! lol He said he was glad to know the style I was after because he he can go into the shoot knowing what look to go for and lenses/equipment to use. I've been really impressed so far. I had some down time with my surgery and he was really great about working with us and OUR lag time for responses. LadyN-definitely gonna be on the look out for your post when you return. Can't wait to find out what your experience with him is and how things go! Oh, and ofcourse the pics. lol Post details when you can, for sure!

Welcome back-dunno what happened, but gotta love a gal whose big enough to apologize:)
-
I'd just tell him. I would WANT to throw them away, but truth be told? My ass is the type that would want to see his reaction to the suggestion, so that I could have a definitive answer on if they were something he put away and kept on purpose or not. Even with them being unseen for years or whatever...I'd still want HIM to be the one to either say "Pitch 'em" or do it himself.

Girl! Do you know I had a note on my pc to come back periodically and check for your pics?! lolol! I knew they were going to be phenomenal and they soooo are! Congrats on a BEAUUUUUTIFUL shoot. You guys look amazing together and the pics came out just insanely gorgeous. Perfect mix of hot, playful and loving. Just fabulous.

I have a list of area attractions on our wedding web site. Some are "mini" attraction types of stuff, but there's definitely enough doing there for a group outing. There's always the Dolphin Discovery as well as Garrafon Park. I know Garrafon Parkhas a zip line and guided tours/restaurant. I heard that one can be pricey, but it's definitely fit for a group outing. There's also the sea turtle farm, and I know most folks who visit try to make it through there while they are on Isla.

That was so wrong- and guess what, I don't think they made her look better! THAT broad made me SO angry! I was..seriously, I was in AWE with my jaw dropped to my chest wondering why those girls even STAYED! I mean, damn! She basically TELLS them that the only reason she asked them is because she considers them to be her ugliest friends! Then proceeds to treat them all like crap AND DOSE ONE OF THEM WITH OTC MEDICATION BEHIND HER BACK?!! And the logic behind THAT lil' piece of work was classic: because she was determined to "get rid of this girl's annoying cough by the wedding." So not only was she skating some seriously illegal lines, but she was dumb enough to believe that cough syrup CURES the common cold. Amazing. Christie- Thanks so much for the listing! I'm going through my guide search right NOW! Too funny about what your FI said; Billy does the same thing. I was telling him we should watch more stuff together and he's like "I am NOT watching friggin' Bridezilla crap all the time." hahahaha

I actually had this as my second/fall back resort. Ultimately, after talking at length with my TA, I decided to follow through on my original choice. The only true problem(s) I had with the place were that the beach is across the street. I didn't care much for the whole "some of the rooms in back face the cemetary" thing....but I could have lived with it ultimately or whatever, but the beach access was just really something I knew I had no chance of convincing Billy to deal with. I have heard that things are coming together nicely and any problems encountered with previous guests were the normal "start up" kind. The manager is supposed to be spectacular and really tries to please the guests.

just venting about the $$ NOT in my bank account
BillysBride replied to JOSIE's topic in Just venting or funnies
I'm with the other gals; good on you for being able to save that much to begin with! Be proud! It's not as if you just up and lost your mind on some random spending spree....life happened and is sucking up your fundage. The good thing is that you are obviously disciplined when you need to be. You can make things work out and you'll budget accordingly I'm sure. Keep the faith! -
Some people stand on ceremony/formality; even knowing that YOU know they would never have come, they have it in their minds that if you were cool, you would send them one anyway. I hate it. Those things are not free and why should I waste money on sending you something you'll likely take one look at, say "Oh, thats cute, but no way." and go on about your life? No, thank you. Hell, I didn't even send an std to one of my brothers (I have six) and his wife. They know. They know and have spent so much time talking about their lack of funds (which is completely understandable as they have new twins), so I figured why the hell front about it? Y'all are not coming and I'm not going to put you on the spot by asking or expecting you to. No attitudes on either side.
