Feet dusters ???!!!
lyrebard replied to LEIGH's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Haven't tried it yet...was thinking of ordering it along with some of their soy tealight candles (going for the sale items while trying to be env. responsible!). -
The site I was going to order them from is: dollaritem.com Click on Stationary --> Books --> Dictionaries BUT: Since I'm a ridiculously impatient person, and since I was worried that no one would want to go in with me , and since these are full sized (around 5" x 8"), I ended up going with another member's suggestion and bought these off eBay: Here's the seller's site: Lot 24 Websters Pocket English/Spanish Translation book - eBay (item 230130344727 end time May-09-08 04:46:30 PDT) Hope this helps, and so sorry for the tease!!

Jewely help
lyrebard replied to Denise40's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Hi Denise, Have you tried searching on Etsy.com? A wide range of designers list their creations on that site, and a search for "necklace Y silver" brought up the following (and more!): Etsy :: MaverickJewelry :: Pink and Pale Gold Crystal Y-Necklace Etsy :: muyinmolly :: SNOWY PETALS keishi freshwater pearl sterling silver necklace Etsy :: justbethlevey :: Marigold Necklace Yellow Citrine Orange Carnelian Y Etsy :: joliemackdesigns :: Anniversary - Exclusive Collection Etsy :: JewelryByLinda :: Dazzling Swarovski Crystal CLEAR AB Y Necklace And the best thing about Etsy is that if you find a designer you like, you can contact them for a custom piece. OR, you can use their "Alchemy" site (Etsy :: Alchemy - Public Listings) to describe what you're looking for and your ideal price, and then different designers actually BID on the chance to make it for you. I heart Etsy. -
cheaptotes.com disappointment
lyrebard replied to lyrebard's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Okay, so I got a call from one of the cheaptotes people today. She claimed that the bags they show on their site are, indeed, the ones I received. But whether or not that's really the case (the pics in my first post seem to imply otherwise, but I swear I'm not judging! lol), she did say that I could return them for a full refund, minus shipping. So, I'm happy to report that my faith in internet shopping has been restored, and I can recommend Cheaptotes for following up on their customer service inquiries. Thanks for the feedback, everyone. Really good to know that the differences I was seeing were visible to you, too! -

We're going with the tree, and the secular text. I'm putting the order in tomorrow. What about you? May I mention you to her too? That IS odd. But a nice coincidence! I was hoping you went with them, as the design of it seems sorta your style. (At least, from what I've gathered on here, lol.) I actually posted the link to newketubah.com on here a few months ago -- I really like her stuff! Thanks for the offer, but we're already using her! I've already been in touch with the artist (Tsilli), and she's helping us put together a slightly more custom piece, sort of a cross between a ketubah and a Quaker wedding certificate, with space for all our guests to sign. =) We're going with the birds design, as I've always liked birds and --after dating me for six years -- the boy has fallen in love with my little parrot and become a bit of a bird person, too. lol. -
cheaptotes.com disappointment
lyrebard replied to lyrebard's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Just as a quick update, for anyone interested in their customer service: Getting Cheaptotes on the phone has not been easy. I have called their numbers, all of them, just to receive a "mailbox is full" message. An email to the company, stating that I was unhappy with my order and requesting a customer service agent call me, only garnered a response email that re-stated my order and the fact that their stock indicated this was what they sent. Um, huh? I have sent a more explanatory (and firm!) email, but have not yet heard a word. I'll let you know what happens.... -

Might be worth checking with your WC to see whether she says Solidaridad or Xpu Ha. I might be tempted to say: Xpu Ha, Quintana Roo, Mexico. (We're saying Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico in ours.) Speaking of, which design did you end up going with? -

Flashlights for OOT bags?
lyrebard replied to becks's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
As much as I hate to recommend them right now (feeling burned on the bags they sent me, which weren't as pictured), cheaptotes.com has these LED flashlights listed @ $0.99 each. -

These are really cute! I was thinking about getting just a few bottles of this "Sand Witch" powder, instead: Sand Witch*::*Sand Witch*::*Things That Make Scents Has anyone ever tried this?? -
I posted this in the OOT forum, but thought it might be better served here... (??) One of the bulk sites is selling abridged Spanish/English dictionaries (191 pages, just the right size for travel, and cheaper than the Spanish for Dummies books that Target was selling! The publisher boasts it has: * Quick translations * A grammar section * Abbreviation lists * And a quick, at-a-glance format, making it ideal for home, school, office, and on-the-go! Each case has 72 books, but we only need 30. Would anyone be interested in buying the other 40 or so? They're only $0.53 each (plus shipping)!!!

Just an update. I found a better description of the books: 191 pages MSRP: $5.95 Pub. date: 2004 Reader's Digest site says: dictionary comes to you in a concise, abridged edition—just the right size to accompany you in your travels! It features lists of entries from A to Z in both English to Spanish, and Spanish to English translations. You’ll also discover: * Quick translations * A grammar section * Abbreviation lists * And more! With a quick, at-a-glance format, it’s ideal for home, school, office, and on-the-go! -
Spanish/English dictionaries share?
lyrebard replied to lyrebard's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I did the same thing...went to probably 4 or 5 different Targets looking for the Dummies book. Only found the "Daily Spanish" version, which was more about teaching grammar than just giving useful phrases like "where's the bathroom?" EDIT: 40 are still available for anyone who's interested... Anyone? -
Hi all, Looks as if one of the bulk-order stores actually has Spanish/English dictionaries! BUT: They're selling them as a case of 72 books. (No idea how many pages, etc., as no actual specs are listed.) I only need 30 -- would anyone be interested in sharing? Here's a pic: And you can find the listing here Looks like they'd be $0.53 each, plus shipping. I'll put the order in and send out the remainder if anyone might be interested...?? -L

cheaptotes.com disappointment
lyrebard replied to lyrebard's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Phew...okay. I was starting to wonder if I was heading toward crazy-ville (a.k.a. bridezilla). Thanks for the confirmation, everyone! -
Hi everyone. I know some of you have been looking at the cheaptotes.com "teacher tote" bags, but never heard whether anyone actually bought or received them. I finally took the plunge and bought 30 of them in the "light blue." The good: they seem relatively sturdy, and mostly as *described* HOWEVER... The bad: They are not as *pictured*. The cheaptotes.com site uses this image: You can tell by looking at the pic that the cotton is quite thick (especially the straps), and the shape of the bags is slightly wider at the top for easy access. I even did quite a bit of searching that referenced that picture, to see what other sites were charging for what appeared to be the same bag. turns out, they were charging more because it IS a different bag. This is what came in the mail a few days ago: Not only is the color off (forgivable, given different computer monitors, camera lenses, etc.), but the shape is wrong (it's MUCH taller than pictured), the straps are different (shorter and thinner), and it looks as if they just added colored straps to their regular "canvas" tote but with colored straps...what I was trying NOT to buy in the first place. I'm going to call customer service on Monday to ask for a full refund upon return (their site claims they charge a 25% restocking fee), but a) wanted to let anyone who was thinking about this particular bag know what to expect, and to report on their customer service upon reaching them. Do you think I'm overreacting? They just feel so much cheaper than I was hoping for. Got what I paid for, I guess! (Of course, if someone does like the way they look, I'd be happy to re-sell them! )

ACK! We're moving x-country the week before our wedding!

Thanks, Christine! I'm really starting to get excited about going out to explore the area and find a place to live. As for the packing/moving itself, well...not so excited, but certainly motivated. =) -

I'm so sorry about your friends, and so glad that you could find something that shows you you're not alone! If it makes you feel any better, I am getting through this and beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel. Once the guestlist was set, I think it was easier to come to terms with however large or small our group was. (In the end, looks to be somewhere around 55 to 62 people.) And the people who ARE coming really are some of our favorite people ever — just knowing how amazing they are to come all the way down there for us...well, it's kinda heartwarming. And thanks to everyone else for the kind words of support. I think taking a week off (er, nearly two weeks, really!) was really helpful and allowed me to find some much-needed perspective. Sure, it meant that my planning went a bit awry, but in the long run, who's really paying attention? =) -
Maura, weren't you going to post the playlist from your CD? I've been waiting so patiently...
-
Jen, I can't believe it's almost time for you to leave for Cabo! If you need any help with last minute anythings, just let me know. I'm right around the corner... =)

Because we figured that they won't necessarily be going to the beach together and each would likely appreciate having her own tote, her own first aid kit, etc.

Means we might see a bit more of each other, as I know that intern year is pretty wretched, time-consumption-wise. So would you live there? Any other 'hoods you like that are close to one of those hospitals? -
