  1. Where in Tulum are you having the ceremony itself? I may have a few suggestions, depending... Feel free to PM me!
  2. Having just come from the area, I can tell you that the cafe really is fantastic. We only ate breakfast there one day, but I wanted to just go straight down the menu and order everything on it. I'd have no reservations in recommending them for your mini-reception. Where are you planning to have it? -lb

  4. Can I ask those of you in the planning stages a question? I've just wandered through the Dreams Tulum site and not found any reference to a wedding coordinator or person to contact. I'm interested in a site visit, but don't know who to talk with! Can someone PM me to send contact info? And if any of you have done a site visit, could you tell me if they gave you any kind of discounted rates during your stay? Thanks!!!
  5. I'd be interested to see this when you get it! I'm not really interested in importing any particular flowers from the US, but using whatever's local and in bloom during the time we're there. Which, in fact, will be June! (It may be sacrilegious to say so, but unless we can find options for flowers grown right there in the Yucatan, I'm actually considering not using any flowers at al!!)
  6. I actually already had a very nice talk with Tammy (host), and she was incredibly helpful. Only problem is that most of the hotels (not resorts) we're interested in tend not to work with travel agents. I'm hoping that once we've chosen a good spot for our guests to stay, everything will get easier! *crosses fingers*
  7. Thanks for all the welcoming comments! I hope that's the case! I'm also beginning to think that it might be nice to stay in Akumal (Tulum one way, Playa and beyond the other) but do the ceremony and reception elsewhere...possibly Tulum. Anyone ever checked out Ana y Jose's in Tulum? -L
  8. Along similar lines: We'll have elderly grandparents coming into Cancun. Does anyone known how accommodating the Cancun airport (especially while waiting to get through customs) is for handicapped passengers? Last time I went through, I wasn't necessarily keeping an eye out for that... thanks!

Welcome to the forum! Thanks! That's pretty much what I'm counting on. What's most important to us is making sure that we find a good place (or places) for our guests to stay, as we're looking at this as a group vacation that's more about spending quality time with our family and best friends than a ceremony that'll be over in an hour. =) I think that's what we like most about the destination wedding idea...that and the fact that it's an equal distance for all of our friends and family (in NY, PA, and CA). No one can accuse us of favoritism! -L
  10. Hi all. My partner and I are aiming to do this crazy thing in the Yucatan in June 2008. After I emailed one place and heard that they were totally booked up through June, I realized I'd better get our collective butts in gear. Here's what we're thinking: June 21, 2008 (summer solstice...we like the symbolism of that) In or near Akumal, about 20 minutes south of Playa del Carmen. That's all we know so far! -lyrebard
