I believe that if your photographer is a guest, they can be there. Dh and I had our photographer stay the week. And nobody at the resort said anything. We still used the resort photographer (seeing as it was included in our package...) It worked out great! and like I mentioned above... Nobody at the resort said anything! I suggest not even mentioning it, and you'll be fine! Happy Planning ladies

"Trashing the dress" isnt at all literal. My dress didnt get trashed one bit. In fact my dress was cleaner after the TTD then after the wedding day. My dress got SOOOOOOO dirty at the reception. Especially after dancing!!! The bottom of my dress was black. After the TTD the black was almost all gone! I still havent even gotten it dry cleaned... Its in pretty good shape! Good enough shape to pass on to my daughter one day (god willing we have ourselves a lil girl...) Unless your dress is very lacy, I suggest you go for it!!! They are some great shots to have! and TRUST ME you will be able to pass down your dress. It wont get trashed...unless you jump into a mud pit You only wear it once might as well get some amazing shots out of it Best of luck!!!!

Barcelo ANYONE?

Also did you do any tours outside the hotel? My Fi wants to see the Mayan temples. Let me know, and CaraW keep me posted on your plans!! This is SO exciting! Thank you Kam Our photographer was Kevin Lanthier. He is a friend of ours. And is based out of Van. BC. We flew him down. And payed for his accommodations. Totally worth every penny!!! because we are so thrilled with our pictures... Im not sure if the hotel gives you options? in regards to photographers... I dont think they do. Seeing as they dont allow outside vendors. Unless they are booked at the resort...They might have changed that policy though... Best of luck! As for a group excursion. Yes! we did do one. It was a catamaran adventure. We booked at the resort. They have a desk set up in the corner of the lobby which is in charge of all excursions... That's were you'll want to book a trip. Chichen Itza are the bigger Mayan ruins, while Coba is smaller, but you can climb up one temple. (DH and I did this excursion, after the wedding) Tulum is the smallest of the mayan civilizations in the area, but it has a gorgeous beach! Breath taking in fact! Dont forget... because your booking as a group, you should never have to pay full price try and get a group rate. Its BS if you dont get one! If your booking more than 10 ppl you should get a discount Best of luck! and Happy planning -
Barcelo ANYONE?
dreamstbride replied to Kamerrence's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Hi! DH and I actually recently got married at the Barcelo Maya Palace. In Nov. We too got married in the Gazebo. Which is NOT private!!! In the beginning I wasn't too keen on it. But it worked out so beautifully. I look at our pro pics and I think the location was just so stunning. Most ppl give you privacy though... They stare for like two min. and then keep walking. Besides... I know from my experience... I wasn't even paying ANY attention to the ppl walking around or looking. All that mattered was DH! <3 It was like it was just the two of us up there. It was so beautiful!!! Best of luck and Happy planning!!!! -

Hey ladies!!! I too was a Barcelo bride! Originally a Dreams Tulum bride! I too am from the lower mainland. I just wanted to let you know, that I too had a very hard time at the beginning of our DW planning. We couldn't get quotes anywhere! Some TA looked at me like I was retarded when I asked about quotes. Not a pleasant feeling! In the end I think you just have to wait it out... The best piece of advice I can give you is to just be patient. Trust me when I say... Everything will work out in the end :) Happy Planning ladies

Thank you ladies for your very sweet comments I hope some of these can be inspiration for some other DW brides to go ahead and do a TTD. We love our pics! and we couldnt be happier with the way they turned out. Quote: These came out amazing. Who was your photographer? Our Photographer, is Kevin Lanthier. He is a friend of DH and we flew him down with us. He is based out of Vancouver BC (same as DH and I) We are very happy with our decision to fly him down. It was worth every penny! Quote: Those are so beautiful! How did doing both the jungle and the beach go? We are thinking of doing the same thing...it looks like your dress (which is gorgeous by the way!) held up well! The beach and jungle worked out well. We got up extra early a couple days after the wedding, and shot on the resort's beach. The Barcelo Mayan Palace did have a BEAUTIFUL beach! and it was nice to get the shots in early b/c there weren't too many ppl on the beach. DH and I made car rental reservations a few days prior to the TTD session. And after the beach shots, we went back to the room, re grouped, re touched my make-up and rented the car and hit the hwy. We initially were looking for a cavern cenote, but had no luck. After looking and looking I was starting to get a bit bothered, being in a wet soppy wedding dress isn't too fun. It weights a lot more wet... We did find an open air cenote and it worked...So we began to shoot. Quote: Your pics are amazing! I love your dress - where is it from? It's perfect for TTD!!! Thank you! My dress is a Maggie Sottero, its called Tabrett Marie. It held up pretty well. It was def a lot cleaner after the TTD than it was after the wedding.

Totally worth it! worth every dime. Because then we got to do a TTD session the following day. And those pics turned out great too. We did bring a few decorations. We brought sea shells to be tossed all over the table. As well as little tin buckets for candles, and our favor boxes. Barcelo provided the flower center piece. If you do not decide on bringing your own photographer. The in house Barcelo photographers are really good too. We used them as well. It was included in our package, so we took advantage and got some photos from them as well. The blonde woman. (her name I do not know?) was great! She was really good. I totally can recomend her. The video-grapher was really good too. The video is a little cheesy at times. But its such a beautiful keepsake. Happy Planning.

Thank you! We did not have our reception inside. We had it outside on one of the terrace's. It not their usual location to have wedding receptions, but the resort was having 6 weddings that day. They didnt have any where else to put us. Trust me though... 6 weddings a day is not what they are used to. It was only because they were taking Dreams Tulum brides, Dreams was dealing with a closer at the time. I was one of those Dreams Brides. It was a big mess! But if you are a Barcelo Bride, you will have your pick of locations, depending on how many weddings they are having the day of. The sashes we used are a dark chocolate brown. It was one of our colors. We had blue and brown as our colors. I showed them a pic of what I wanted. And they did it. The colored sashes are an extra cost though... Hope this helps

Yes! Waterproof indeed! Im a make-up artist, so finding the right stuff that was going to stay put was easy! I am so so so pleased with the way the TTD pics turned out! I love them. Thank you so much, for the sweet compliments! As for all the other comments... Oh yes! it was hell! But Ive heard of a saying that says, If you can survive planning a wedding from hell, your marriage will survive too. There were so many things going wrong! I was in tears almost the entire first two days... But in the end, we got married! and our day was everything we wanted! We are so so so thrilled to have found each other and regardless of everything... Our day was nothing short of perfect! I never lost sight of the fact that I was there to marry my soul mate!
