  1. I agree - it all depends on the photographer's prices and the quality you want...
  2. I love bubbles! Can't go wrong! Think only the guests on the ends of the aisle would blow them or throw the rice, confetti, etc? Or does everyone do it?

    Hey there!

Congrats and good luck with your planning! A note on why we picked our island - Jamaica is the easiest and closest cheap flight/destination to the east coast - wanted to make it as easy for our guests as possible!

Congrats and good luck with your planning!!
  5. Welcome! You're right, these girls have some great ideas and help! I wish I would've found it sooner and had more time - good luck with all your planning!
  6. I was thinking about that too - having somewhat of a supply of meds in our room and letting the guests know, so we didn't have to spend as much on the individual packs... but this is a great idea! Thanks!
  7. Shoot! I didn't even pay attention to the size of the decks of cards when I placed the Oriental Trading order! I just thought the flip flop shaped cards were too cute! Now that I went back and checked: "Flip Flop-Shaped Playing Cards. Great for travel! Your family will pass many fun-filled summer days playing games with these colorful playing cards. Each 2 3/8" deck comes in a plastic container. (54 cards per deck)"... they are tiny! Oh well, it's too late now... but I should mention that I saw packs of 2 decks of regular size playing cards at the Dollar Tree too... so they'd be 50 cents each, and that would have been my backup plan (because at first I couldn't find the flip flop cards on Oriental Trading). Anyway, my OTC order should be in soon - hopefully they'll get used at some point!
  8. I wish I would've thought of doing something like this! I ordered generic flip flop tote bags from Oriental Trading... you DIY girls are so creative!
  9. We registered at Bed Bath and Beyond and Kohl's... I was surprised at how frustrating it was too - we've lived together for 3 years, and really we just want cash towards new furniture and carpet... we've got the new little stuff, but all the expensive items are hand-me-downs! Any suggestions on how to 'register' for furniture?! We don't want them to think we want any one person to buy a couch or something, but more like a 'hint' that we are saving up for that stuff, know what I mean?
  10. I keep hearing about Hobby Lobby- I really wish we had one in Delaware! We're stuck with just Michael's and AC Moore...
  11. At our Dollar Tree, they were in the aisle with all the makeup and cotton balls, etc, and were in the 2 packs for $1 each... works out to 50 cents per lip balm, and I couldn't ask for a better price than that! Hope that helps! They were different than the lip balm available at dollartreedirect.com, so I guess they're in-store only? Let me know if you can't find them, and I'll get the brand name from home tonight! Actually, now that I'm thinking of it, I'm pretty sure they're made by Chap-Ex, and the packaging was blue with maybe a beachy pic?... the flavors were written on the top left and right corners by the hanger cutout...
  12. I was inspired by these last week, and went to our Dollar Tree over the weekend... they had 2 packs of lip balm (some with red or orange lids, some just white) with SPF 15 and in tropical flavors! There's a Key West Lime, Caribbean Coconut, Bahamian Berry, and another one I can't remember at the moment... but you can't beat that - I may not even get to the labels now, I'm happy I found the fun flavors and they have the SPF! Just wanted to share!
  13. Very cute! One of my bridesmaids brought up a similar idea for our "meet-n-greet" that we're having here before everyone leaves... we've had a lot of people saying "Who's all going to Jamaica?"... so we decided to pick a Saturday night and have everyone get together at a local restaurant/bar... this will give me a much better chance of actually pulling something off! Thanks!
  14. Brides Against Breast Cancer and the Making Memories Foundation are a really great cause! I was able to buy my dress from their Drexel Hill sale last October too! It's currently at David's for $499, and I bought it for $299, so I saved $ and helped a good cause! Can't beat that! I was torn between 2 dresses at David's too, so this made my decision easier as well! The dress doesn't even look like it has been worn, and it has a one-button bustle that I'll be changing to a french (?) under-bustle! I love it!
  15. That's good to know, makes me a little more comfortable - thanks girls!!!
  16. I was worried about what music the DJ would play if we don't provide music... do you think it'll be the same Top 40 type of stuff we have here?! Think we have to hire a DJ if we're planning on bringing an ipod to do the work? I guess we would, because the hotel wouldn't have sound equipment? Thoughts/ideas? We're getting married at the Iberostar Rose Hall... they're pretty new to Jamaica (just opened last May)... TIA!
  17. This is awesome - thanks!! Hopefully I'll be able to modify it a bit for our Rose Hall wedding! Thanks again!
  18. Hmm... wonder if that would still give me enough time to have it ready for a May wedding? Don't they suggest you get your dress 6-9 months before? What do you think girls?!
  19. Oops - thanks! I didn't look far enough to find the right place to post it!
  20. Hi! Is anyone using a photographer other than the hotel, but not flying one from home?? Photography is reallly important to FI, and of course we're nervous of what our hotel provides. I think they don't allow outside photographers though, unless the person is a guest... so I wish I had a photographer in my family! Just curious your ideas and if we have any other options! I don't think we'll get to do a Trash the Dress session - definitely not with the hotel's photographer! Any advice is much appreciated!!
  21. Thanks! The Rose Hall Resort & Country Club looks gorgeous! I wonder if they'd allow us to have the ceremony there if we weren't staying there? Probably not, I'd guess...
  22. How many points does it take to open it? How do I earn points?! I would love any guidance to help me stay within budget - that's one of the biggest reasons we ended up going DW! (We were about to sign a contract for $30K+ and I realized that's wayyyy too much, we'd have an even better time for half the cost and spending more time with those we love on an island!) Anyway, any help in opening this would be appreciated!
  23. We picked Jamaica because it was the most affordable and quickest flight from Philly... we booked this about 7 months out, so wanted the cheapest place for friends and family on a tight budget to work out... we actually got engaged in Cabo, but didn't love it (I got sick) and the flight is a bit longer from the East Coast! We wanted to get married in a place neither of us have been, and although I went to Negril 5 years ago (and LOVED it!), I talked him into Jamaica, only a totally different part. Stayed in the Montego Bay area for easier transfers from airport to hotel. Ended up at Iberostar Rose Hall because they're fairly new and would do a Sunday wedding!
  24. We picked 5/4/08 because we started dating 5/4/03 and got engaged 5/4/06... i really wanted to get married 5/6/7 (we started dating 5/4/3!) but a 1 year engagement was too 'rushed' for him... he didn't want to rush into 'planning mode' so fast... so 5 years dating, 2 years engaged it is!
