We're Ordering Pashminas!
coreyphil replied to TATrisha's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Just got confirmation email --- orange and turquoise will definitely be in stock in about 2 weeks. (Hooray!) Ivory and light green are in-stock. Still waiting to hear about yellow ... are there any other colors we need to check on? -

On the website - choose the "silky solid" pashiminas ... it will give you the color options. Some say out of stock, but I talked to the gentleman yesterday and he says they should be re-stocked in a couple of weeks. -

I'm in, too! My order is correct ... Thanks again! -
We miss you, too! I've been meaning to ask ... how is the life of a brand new associate? Is it as bad as they claim? I'm starting to get a bit anxious! But, at least it sounds like you are getting home in time to eat with your FI ... my FI is really worried we're never going to see each other for the next 2 years! On the other hand, maybe I'll just PM you and ask for any advice! It's amazing what employers can pull up these days!!!

They're all so pretty Carly! My favorite is orange ... just because I think it's such a happy color ... but I also really like the dark pink one, too! You can't go wrong! -
Carly --- I think that's right ... just one lump sum payment to the company ... if we go with the flat $5 for shipping / handling, then we'd just divide up the fashionunic S/H charges (which would probably be less than $1 per girl since so many are ordering) ... and then credit each with the remainder to go towards their direct shipping. I just hate for anyone to have to shell out up-front costs if we can avoid it ... Georgiabeauty --- paypal will email you a receipt of your payment. I'll have to check and see what the return policy would be and how that would be handled! Good question though!

I completely agree ... but I also think that you're absolutely entitled to have "stinky feelings" too! We're going to be missing a few because of babies, too. It's pretty much impossible to make it to where everyone can attend! You're wedding is going to be wonderful ... it's so easy sometimes to get caught up in details and an idea of "perfect" --- trust me --- I know because I have been freaking out about a silly mural in my chapel --- but just reading some of these other posts reminds me that what Yari says is right --- starting this amazing adventure with a wonderful man is all that really matters! -

That's a good idea ... at the very least, I figured that I would ask her to have it "covered up" by the time we arrive on the 4th. That way there would be time to take it down by the 8th if I thought it was worse ... Oh - and my mom (always so good at seeing the positive) pointed out that the photographer (Juan Carlos) can just shoot pictures without it as much as possible ... and probably digitally edit it out on ones that show it ... Is it really not that bad? I wish I could share the pictures of Tracy's wedding where the candles are lit on the wall and it is just simple and pretty! -
I immediately thought of Angela's (cheese_diva) --- she had a BEAUTIFUL wedding! I'm not sure if you were thinking of using both, but I love the combination of aqua and coral ... I think it is super-beachy and would be beautiful! To me, the aqua with coral accents would be a bit softer and reminiscent of the ocean while coral with aqua accents would seem a more summer-time / festive ... either way --- I think it would be really pretty!

Ok - I'm ready to make this post ... I think I can do it without crying ... First, a little background --- My FI and I really wanted to be married in a church or chapel. We had been looking at El Encanto Inn because we loved its character and we really like to stay in small bed-and-breakfast-type hotels when we travel. I also really, really loved the chapel. When I hired my WC - I was delighted when El Encanto was the first place she mentioned after I told her what I was looking for --- I thought it was a match made in heaven! She put me in contact with a former bride who had been married there ... and I loved the little chapel even more. Unfortunately, I don't have pictures to share of her wedding ... BUT - I loved the fact that the chapel is small and intimate, has these beautiful rustic, hand-carved pews, and has this beautiful stone wall with a simple cross and candles on it. Both the former bride (Tracy) and my WC said that the chapel's simplicity is so beautiful and elegant that you don't even need a lot of flowers ... she just used aisle petals. In the pictures that I saw on BOTH the hotel website and in Tracy's wedding - the space above the stone was white and simple. OK - 2 nights ago, my FI and I were talking about the wedding - and I decided to check something on the website. The website had been re-vamped and looked AWESOME! They did a really great job. We went to the "Weddings" page and I was FLOORED to see that a mural had been painted in the chapel. I flipped ... Now - let me say that I have nothing against murals ... but it is definitely not my taste and I can ABSOLUTELY say that I would NOT have booked here if this was what I had seen. I was really, really worried about stepping on someone's toes or hurting someone's feelings (thinking maybe it was painted by someone's daughter or something ...) I called my WC just to bend her ear - and she recommended contacting the hotel owner immediately. When I talked to the hotel owner Blanca --- who has been AMAZINGLY nice the ENTIRE time I have worked with her --- I told her that I really liked the new website, but that I was very surprised to see the mural on the wall. I asked her when it had been painted - and she said, "Last summer ..." But, she admitted that the pictures on the old website did NOT show the mural in the chapel. I simply said, "I'm just trying to see what my options are because I really loved the simplicity of the chapel without the mural ..." She immediately offered to cover it up for the ceremony. NOW --- Here's the dilemma and where I'm seeking opinions ... Do you think it will look even worse covered up? What would you do? Everyone who has seen the mural agrees that it is pretty bad ... WC and FI think we should try to cover it up (which Blanca is willing to do) ... My mom said she thinks we should just tell the guests what happened and let it be --- she thinks it may draw even more attention covered up! Here are the pics: I asked my WC if there are any other brides booked at El Encanto before my wedding --- I was thinking maybe if they are unhappy, too; then, they might consider painting over the mural completely. Unfortunately, WC doesn't have any others getting married there ... Another friend suggested simply saying to the owner that the mural may actually discourage other brides from booking here because it detracts from the character of the chapel. I'm hesitant to do this because I absolutely HATE thinking that I am hurting someone's feelings or offending them ... What would you do?
-
I think either of those options would be good ... If we just asked everyone to add a flat fee of $5 to their initial paypal amount - it would cover the shipping from fashionunic and everyone would probably have around $4 or so to go towards shipping to them. This seems like it might be enough in many cases --- at least for the girls in the states who are ordering less than 20 (I bet they are packed flat and fairly lightweight). We could send the 'shipping' money in advance to whoever ends up with that task so that it minimizes any out of pocket costs ... and then just keep track of any additional shipping owed. And, just speaking for myself, if my shipping turned out to be less than what I had left of the $5 --- it could just be used towards someone who needs it ... Even paying $6 or $7 seems like a good deal.

Good News! Some of the colors are now showing in-stock ... light green, dark brown, ivory ... They are still out of turquoise (but they do have light turquoise), orange, and both yellows. Hopefully, those will be in soon. Trish - I definitely still want to order ... so if we can order by the first week of February, I think we should be fine ... we fly to Cabo on March 4th. If you're willing to receive them and re-distribute, I'm glad to call and try to negotiate a lower price and follow up on the out-of-stock colors, etc. Carly - can we use your pay pal account? Here's a rough game plan ... We could set a deadline for confirming your order ... let's say - by the end of this week? January 12th. After we have a final count - then if you'll send me the spreadsheet ... I'll call and see if I can get him to sell them to us for less than $3.50 / pc. I should have a final price by Jan. 15. Then we could say the deadline to pay using PayPal would be by Jan. 22 --- and we could place the order the next day. What do you think? Also - how do we handle shipping charges? Should we just tack on $5 per person (or some other amount?).

Just got off the phone w/ the fashionunic.com guy ... he says that almost ALL the colors will be available in about 2 weeks. Right now there are some colors showing out-of-stock, but that are really in-stock and they just haven't updated the website. Apparently, they are in the process of updating the website and have been really busy. He suggests that we gather our list and send it to him, and then he will be able to let us know in a couple of weeks whether or not that color is not going to be available. I did a quick count last night and it seems like we easily have 200 or more ... I didn't attempt to negotiate the $2.00 price because 1) I wasn't sure how many we really have, and 2) I didn't want too many hands in the pot ... I wasn't sure what the game plan was as far as payment, who is going to place the order, who is going to receive and distribute, etc ... I'm happy to do any of the above!

I though that Jill (Jak27) had it at her wedding, but I don't remember hearing it mentioned since ...
