Leia - I love it ... I know it will turn out beautiful! Are you doing it instead of a guest book? I really loved the second picture with the different words on the back of the cards. Good for you --- you know what you want --- so (as Tim Gunn says) --- make it work! -

Anyways - she emailed the guy again - hopefully we'll know something soon ... he apparently keeps saying that it wont be long ...

Hi Alyssa! I agree with the other girls ... go to either JoAnn's or Hancock. You can flip through the books and get ideas. Also - be sure to look at the difficulty level of the pattern you're looking at --- some of them will even give you hour estimates of how long it will take to make ... Here are my general impression of the different brands: Simplicity --- these are some of the easiest patterns to make McCall's --- they have also been around forever and are usually pretty simple Vogue ---- be careful because I've found that their "easy" or "average" patterns are still more advanced than some of the others. Vogue tends to have a lot of details --- pleats, linings, etc ... BUT - sometimes they have nice simple patterns. One of my all-time favorites was a Calvin Klein sheath dress that I made in high school ... I wore it for YEARS. Butterick --- I don't think I've ever used one of these - but they seem to be pretty similar to McCall's and Simplicity. Burda --- I've made Zoe a dress from this group - I think it is a European group ... the style is more contemporary. I'm not sure I've seen very formal patterns from them, but definitely some cute sundresses, etc. Good luck --- can't wait to hear what you find. Just a quick warning ... sometimes the time, money, and material makes it just as expensive as buying one .... If you find something that you love, but would be too much for your mom ... you might check with a local tailor and see if they'll make it for you.

You guys are so funny! They are all so true ... -
I feel your pain ... if it makes you feel any better, I found my first one in HIGH SCHOOL! Plus - with my hair being so black ... each one practically screams "hey look at me!" They are not just gray - but they are those crazy wiry, course, metallic hairs ... Needless to say ... that's why hair color is a girls best friend. FI didn't even know I color my hair until we'd been dating for a couple of years. You might just talk to your stylist and see when they would recommend you come in for coloring. Sometimes it can change the texture of your hair ... so you might want to give a little bit of lead time to get used to it!

Bought my dress yesterday!

The dress is stunning --- so beautiful! I agree about the veil ... I think that the cathedral may be too traditional for the dress ... a very sheer finger tip would allow the details of the back to really shine ... Congrats on finding your dress! -
apologies for not reading the entire post before replying ... i agree with the other girls ... i think buying them and bringing them with is smarter than renting ... i love the pic w/ no table cloth and just the runner ... just don't know how that would look with round tables ... and you crack me up about "not letting it go" ... i became a bit crazy about the napkin thing early on ... i know that no one will care but me (and most of my friends think i'm crazy when it's revealed that i made the napkins ...) ... but you know how you want your reception to look. what are your colors again?

PS Carly - i don't even know how to sew!! Alyssa - I made my linens ... I ended up making my napkins and I have the fabric for making the table runners. I will just use the standard white long table cloths underneath and then the runners on top. The table runners are a butter yellow linen-look material and I ended up buying dishtowels (crazy!) from antropologie that I love ... I will use these in the center to set the candle trios on. I think to do 40 napkins and 6 table runners was about $75. It was more an issue of time investment (I've been working on them a few every couple of days). The dishtowels were like $14 a piece, but I love them. For me - I didn't want to do $3 or $4 per napkin for polyester or napkins that I didn't like ... As for not being able to sew ... any friends that would be willing to help? Seriously ... it's a STRAIGHT LINE ... not difficult! There are a ton of online instructions to help ...

She just tied me up tighter but I think if I were to wear it like that the day of the wedding I would pass out! I was feeling kinda light headed at the fitting and I wasn't sure if that's because I stood in one place for too long. Help me and my boobies! I've never had this problem before being a C cup. yep - the cups help fill you out ... i'm having them sewn in, too. it will help "push" the girls up and eliminate the gaping ... it seems to me that just tightening the corset will squish you flat or collapse your ribcage. the cups "round you out". as for the spanx ... they do make a high waist one that comes up to where your bra band hits ... it gives you a nice smooth line if you have silky or clingy fabrics ... hey tami - where do you get this Flattering Me line? (ok - i guess i could just google it ...) i've just never heard of it before! -

Ok - I'm not a lot of help - but friends have reassured me that ATM's are a plenty and you'll get a better exchange rate using them compared to exchanging them at a bank or hotel over there. Are there any vendors that you must pay in cash on the same day? You might want to take that into account since there may be a limit on how much you can ATM each day ...

Marcia's Mexican Wonders
coreyphil replied to coreyphil's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
The website is sometimes "busy" - but I've always been able to get on within 3 or 4 minutes ... Here are the pics: The OOT bags (they will be in assorted colors): A little one for Zoe: A wrestling mask for Austin: And of course one for Zoe, too: I had thought about trying to find everything once I got there ... but I think we'll be busy enough getting snacks / bottled water / etc. for the OOT bags ... this way it will be nice to have one less thing to carry on the airplane! Anyways - I've just loved Marcia, she's just so sweet. (and she takes paypal, too!). -
Hi Girls! Just thought I would share this site ... http://http://mexicanwonders.vstore.ca/ The owner has been SUPER nice! I ordered the La Catrina bags for my OOT bags because I think they're so much fun. (I can't get to photobucket right now, but will post pics later ...). They were $6.00 each (They were $9.00 on Tesoros Trading Co.). We also got silly wrestling masks for the kids for $5.00 and toy lucha libre wrestlers for $5.00. We bought a few loteria card games and other odds and ends. Marcia has been really wonderful to work with ... She's shipping directly to the hotel so shipping has been really cheap! (BUT --- I'm staying at a small hotel and talked with the owner first before having the items shipped there ...). Just thought I'd share!

Oh Kate! I just wanted to say I'm so sorry and I'll be thinking about you!
