I'm also ordering the milagros from this company. Here's the pic: Oh - and Lauren ... I also was going to ask you whether you're having you're reception at an all-inclusive? It seems that a lot of girls who did AI's got a ton of things thrown in! I also forgot to include the piece of advice a very good friend gave me! She warned me against falling into the trap of buying a ton of "stuff" --- she said "Total up the entire amount you are spending on each guest and ask yourself - would I hand this person that amount of cash?" As crazy as it sounds .... it really makes you think hard about what you're spending and why! -

If you order them before me, please let me know how they look - I was so excited to find them, I can't wait to see them! Absolutely! I may go ahead and order them ... they are seriously the best price I've seen! I'll let you know if I do! Thanks again for the post!

to splurge or not to splurge....and another ?

I'll second a lot of what Michelle just wrote. We're having around 35 people as well. Originally I thought we would be at long tables, but the restaurant (La Panga) has changed to round tables ... so I didn't really have a say in that. We're also doing an ipod instead of dj ... we're planning on buying our own speakers and bringing them with us ... the restaurant said that would be perfect since the outdoor private area does not have loudspeakers and they discouraged a band / dj due to their other guests in the main restaurant. As for the tables ... I wasn't crazy about the linens I had seen in general ... and at one point was considering buying these cute napkins that I really loved (that I'm embarrassed to say were $8 a piece) - but I came to my senses. My mom pointed out I would probably be really upset if I ended losing some, or some got stained, etc. So, I'm actually making them (for less than $1 per napkin). They are made of natural cotton and have scalloped embroidery at the edges in different colors. They were super-easy to make, but just a little time consuming to cut out ... however, I tend to do 3 or 4 at a time ... I didn't find it nearly as crazy as the STD's. I am getting candle centerpieces (trio of cylinders - one large, small, med w/ sand in the bottom and pillar candles at $36 per trio ... we're getting 6) from my WC and also 2 tall arrangements w/ dendrobium orchids in tall vases w/ clear gems - one for the cake table and one for the guest book table. I seriously thought about trying to bring things with me ... but then thought ... what would I do with all of it afterwards? Also - once I started pricing things - it wasn't that much cheaper. BUT - instead of ordering flowers for the tables - I bought drinking glasses on sale at Anthropologie for $1.75 / piece and I'm going to do small arrangements of fresh flowers from the market ... just to give it some color. My pictures are on my laptop and I'll try to post when I get home. Also like Michelle, I'm going to print my own menus and bring them with me. Finally, I'm going to order flaming heart milagros to place at each place setting ... to give it a little color and character, and guests can take them with them as favors, too. As for saving some money ... I also want to do OOT bags ... but I figure that I will only have to do around 15 because most of our guests are couples. Right now I'm planning on using Mexican Market bags that I found online and filling them with snacks from Costco, maps, itineraries, etc., but I'm not doing the whole beach towel, sunscreen, medications, etc ... all of those single packets and individual items quickly add up! I think that some of the girls have done amazing jobs with all of their logos, themed items, etc. But that's just not really me ... so I'll just keep it simple. Originally, we had thought about doing wine as favors ... I'd seen a wedding that did that and had the bottles in these cute wine bags ... I really liked the idea. But - that can really add up, too. Instead, I'm now thinking of this idea that my best friend just told me about after returning from a wedding last weekend. They gave out recipes from their grandmothers and the bride's mother who had passed away ... it was a neat way to remember the women in their family that were no longer with them. The recipes were on beautiful cards and in vellum envelopes ... they were really sweet. I'm also going to have cute boxes for guests to bring cake back to their room for a "midnight snack". Finally, I've ordered mexican wedding cookies and bought cute bags from Michael's to give to guests for their flight back ... The price for all three of these things is less than half of what the wine idea would have cost! Crazy! More importantly ... all of these things are easy to pack! We did splurge on the photographer, but both of us agreed before hand that this was a top priority. I nixed shelling out lots on flowers ... I bought silk rose petals on clearance at Michael's for the aisle. Nothing else for the ceremony other than my bouquet and his boutonniere. I'm not having bridesmaids, but if I were, then I think I would probably go with single stem callas instead of arrangements. Hmmm... I also wrote a book! But Michelle's right ... all of these little details are fun - but the fact is they aren't really what matters! The whole reason we had a destination wedding was because we wanted to be small and intimate with those we love most in the world. -

I've been looking for boxes to let guests take home slices of cake, too! I'm a little late reading this post --- have you gotten your boxes yet? If you have, do you think they'll work for cake? I think it would be super-cute to have those and then pretty tissue paper squares and ribbon ... I found some Martha Stewart baked good boxes, but they were more than I wanted to spend ... the prices on this website are so much more reasonable than the ones that I've been coming across. It's also nice that the bulk quantity is 50 instead of 100 since our wedding is going to be small! Thanks again!!

Congratulations and Welcome!!! I'm getting married in March in San Jose del Cabo. Beth Dalton with Weddings in Paradise is my wedding coordinator and she has been absolutely wonderful. There have been other girls that have had problems with other coordinators at WIP, but I've been very happy with Beth. Our ceremony is going to be at the chapel (Capilla Josefina) at El Encanto Inn and the reception at La Panga. We're using Juan Carlos Tapia for our photographer. We're using Ixchel for transportation to and from events, like the sunset cruise on the Pez Gato. As soon as my semester finishes, I'm planning on nailing down a few more activities and a spa party .... If you have any questions I can help with just let me know! I've never been to Cabo and don't have time to do a site visit ... so this website has been an absolute lifesaver!!! Everyone has been wonderful! You'll find lots of great, honest information! Happy Planning!

Anyone ever been to Hive Spa in San Jose?

Janet - How frustrating! You poor thing - I would have been really upset as well. You're right - you really have no options when you're in that situation --- which makes you want to strangle someone! I appreciate you responding!! Thanks Maura for sending me KarlaV's review! I looked at the prices online --- I guess since they are less than what they are here in Dallas, they didn't seem that bad ... The website just looked pretty cool! I'm going to keep mulling it over! -
Happy Birthday Tammy! Sorry I'm a little late ... but I hope that your day was special!

Congratulations and welcome from a fellow Dallasite!

Hi girls ... I'm still not sure whether or not I want to do an on-site spa party with Suzanne. I'm really just wanting it to be my 3 closest girlfriends --- so I've been thinking that it might be more fun for us to "get away". I'm a little afraid if I have a spa-party at the hotel, I'll be obligated to include my mom, FMIL, etc ... since they'll be around. That completely changes the feel (and the conversation)! My WC loves Senza ... but that adds on travel time from San Jose. I just heard about this spa - has anyone ever been? Here's the website: http://www.hivespa.com/

Leia - when you say 'perm' your lashes ... what does that entail? I'm asian, too and I have always had to use an eyelash curler (that i heat up with a hairdryer) to get my super-straight lashes to even 'appear' ... but i've never heard of 'perm'-ing them! I've been looking at extensions, too ... there's a new place in the DFW metroplex and this is all they do ... but i think it's a lot more than $60!

The last one from your most recent trip is classic and elegant. All 3 of the dresses that Mrs. V-to-be likes are very flattering on you!

I went to 5 different places and was starting to get depressed about the whole thing! But - once I tried on the dress I eventually bought - I knew it was the one. I also loved the little shop that I found it in ... they were very low-key, no appointments, down-to-earth and fun. Do you know what kind of dress you're looking for? Hang in there ... you'll find it!

I'll nominate Christine for Mrs. and Jill for bride-to-be --- it was so thoughtful for her to offer her research services on her last trip to Cabo!

Kristen - I haven't been to Senza - but my WC says that it's the "best" if that helps at all. It's the spa she uses! We're staying in San Jose, so we're going to either have Suzanne Morel come to us or use MexSun since it is in San Jose. Otherwise, I would booked at Senza! Your invitations are too cute! Can't wait to hear how everything goes! You're day is coming up!!! - Corey

Picking My Wedding Band
coreyphil replied to foxytv's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Both the bands are beautiful and so unique! As for the anniversary band - I like the idea of wearing it on another finger ... that way it doesn't compete with all the detail of the wedding band. So sorry about your e-ring ... how terrible! -
Congratulations and welcome to the forum!

Welcome I'm getting married in San Jose del Cabo at the chapel at El Encanto Inn called Capilla Josefina. We're having about 35 guests and liked how small and intimate both the inn and the chapel were ... but there have been a ton of great reviews for other places, too! Good luck and let me know if I can help in any way!
