  1. Oh my gosh, this thread has been dead for so long, these new posts made me look at my wedding pictures for the first time in like 2 years! Man what a difference those last 10 pounds make on me... I don't know how things might have changed, but when I had my wedding, Karisma (parent company) had basically a checklist of wedding stuff. It was very wideranging. THey changed their policy in the middle of my plans and starting prohibiting outside vendors (photographers, musicians) but I had already signed a contract with Sol, so thankfully, they let me bring her in. I had seen photos from their provided photographers and WAS NOT impressed at all. Their coordinators were great (Carolina), their flowers were great. Food (canapes) were great. We had the reception in the big open air restaurant. It was reserved for us that night. We rented the sound system but opted to DJ ourselves, ala iPod, because we trusted our taste in music more...The only letdown I would say was the trio of musicians for the ceremony, which was part of their catalog. I asked for three guitarists, and I wanted them to play the Beatles "All you need is love" when I walked in. Otherwise, I just wanted traditional, sort of spanish guitar pretty music. I was pretty darn flexible! Instead, i got two guitarists and a weird electric flutist. I think they played All you need is love, but someone said they thought it was the theme from The Hulk. It sounded almost like a funeral procession! I remember laughing at it when my Dad was walking me down the aisle...like, WTF is this music? BUT the mariachi guys that played the coctail hour were fantastic. That was when Sol was taking pix of us, so you don't see it in the professional shots... I can't believe it's been three years! Overall it was awesome and all my guests loved the relaxed but chic vibe and the great service at Azul... I highly recommend Azul!
  2. Hi Jennifer! Thanks a lot! I looked at your gallery last night, they are great. I love how she captured everyone getting so emotional. I know, it's surreal for me to see them, too, I was actually walking under the balcony when you were out there posing, and i almost yelled up at you but i didn't want to ruin the moment/break your concentration! haha. Hope you guys are doing good! Quote: Originally Posted by lovefreddy Hey Michelle, remember me I got married the day before you?? It is so weird seeing these pics when I saw you that night!! 3. Hi everyone, My husband and I were lucky enough to have Sol Tamargo and her associate Diego shoot our wedding at Azul Beach hotel in June. She also shot our TTD session a couple days later at a different site, with some small ruins right by the beach. She is everything you've read on this site! A great spirit to be around, very sweet and so amazingly talented. It is really interesting to see how she continues to get really creative shots, considering how many weddings she has shot (and how many repeat locations). But I guess that's what makes her stand out from the pack. Anyway, I am still in the process of writing a full review of the hotel (one word review: great) because I have taken so much from this site over the past year (thanks folks!) and not given back...but I am also in the middle of an out-of-state move so it's crazy. But it is coming! Here's the TTD. del Sol Photography Wedding Photojournalism and the regular wedding pix: del Sol Photography Wedding Photojournalism (Thanks Sol!) Michelle
  4. Hi. does anyone know what sort of flower options I would have in June? Basically, if I don't want roses or calla lillies, what else is there? Thanks!
  5. I booked at Azul Beach. I am really excited, but I just got through reading the thread about how difficult it is to bring in outside photographers... I am really hoping that i don't have to end up with crappy pix. I feel like I don't know how to reach that middle ground ... where I want a destination wedding so it's unique and carefree and fun ... BUT I do like things to be my way to a degree... I guess this will be a learning process!
  6. Hi. I am Michelle. Just booked a wedding for 6-7-08 on the Riviera Maya. Just starting the whole process, sort of overwhelmed but excited...and ready to learn from everyone else!
