  3. if you want to do a mexican restaurant i'd suggest el vez. it's one of the steven starr restaurants and it's delish with awesome drinks! it can be pricey though. a cheaper option would be el azteca. you can byo tequila and they make a mean margarita. my bachelorette party was in olde city. the girls went to continental for martinis and the guys went to mahogany for cigars. then we met up at lucy's hat shop (a bar, not a hat shop) on 3rd and market. blkatz made a good call on lucky strike. it's a bar/bowling alley and is a lot of fun.. but no dancing there. but whatever you do... don't go to mad river.. groooooooss.
  4. i can't wait to see the nj housewives. maybe it's just because i live in the state, but having the show in north jersey makes total sense to me. i swear these women are a breed all their own!

  6. this was mine. it's a calvin klein that i found at marshall's.
  7. hey ladies.. no i'm not preggo! i just have a question. i'm going out to lunch tomorrow with a good friend of mine who i don't get to see very often because she lives far away. anyway, she's preggo and this is the first time i'm seeing her since she found out. i'd like to get her a small little gift.. i don't really know what but just a congratulations type thing. did any of your friends/family buy you something small and cute and maybe sentimental when you told everyone you were expecting? or is something practical a better idea? she's not finding out the sex so it should be gender neutral, if that matters and also, she hasn't had her shower yet so i'll buy her a bigger gift later. i'm just looking for something small. tia!
  8. thanks so much! both places sound really promising, yay!
  9. there are lots of random threads about it.. i searched "dad's" and "attire" and found some. but i don't believe there is a sticky. could be wrong though.
  10. hey ladies, this might be a long shot but i wanted to throw it out there. my bff is getting married next year with a 20k total budget. her family squashed the DW idea, so she somehow has to do it all on this 20k budget. i know 20k would hardly get me anywhere in nj, so she is really struggling with being right outside of DC where everything is pricier. has anyone been to a wedding in the silver spring/chevy chase/bethesda area that seemed like it was on a reasonable budget? a park? restaurant? any ideas would be appreciated.
  11. i've been using it for quite a while now.. i save about $80-$100 a month. i could save more but there are some things that i'm still picky about buying so i'd rather pay full price. you also have to be committed to buying the paper every sunday. sometimes i forget but i found a place by me that usually has leftover papers on monday morning.. pm me your email and i can send you a referral.
  12. fyi, this is now in canada!
  13. we order dh's online. it's tungsten and cost $6.50 because we bought it from a wholesale site- Wholesale Sterling Silver, Titanium, Gemstone & Stainless Steel Jewelry, Buy Silver Rings, Bracelets, Chains, Gold Earrings, Pendants & Necklaces Online. we actually bought 5 so he could choose and then we bought a backup of the one he chose just in case. if this ring cost less than $10.. think about how much money jewelers are making off of each ring they sell- nuts! here is a thread about it- http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t11796
  14. i think it's pretty common to choose a place site unseen. however, if you are working with a lot of vendors and going off the resort for most of your important items, i think it makes a lot more sense to do a visit. otherwise, i wouldn't spend the money as there are quite a lot of resources for you.
  15. there is a thread on this- http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t3273 should help a bit.
  16. ooh, we watched gran torino the other day. that was really good... i love clint eastwood. the dialogue in it was pretty racial, so a heads up if that offends you. also, we watched miracle at st. anna- the new spike lee movie. really like that one also. it's about 4 black soldiers (it's a movie about war and race relations, which is why i specify their race) during WWII and they get trapped in a small italian village.
  17. bummer calia.. i don't have any legal advice, but it doesn't really sound like this guy has a leg to stand on.. so try not to worry too much
  18. very cool.. i lived in southern spain for a while and love it there. i'm headed to barcelona (3rd time there) and marseilles and aix-en-provence (1st time for both places) in may. i'll be sure to post a review.
  19. what program do you use to make these? a girlfriend of mine is getting married soon and she asked to help.. thanks!
  20. his name is Giovanni Michael and he was born yesterday at 7:10am. it's hard being so far away from the family right now (we are in south jersey, they are in upstate new york) but we'll be up there this weekend.. i can't wait to meet him!! and my SIL did it completely natural! yikes hah. thanks for all the well wishes!
  21. congrats kat!!!!!!!!!! SOOO happy for you!
  22. we just watched australia and rachel getting married and i wasn't really a fan of either. australia was really pretty to watch but it was so long and didn't have a very engaging story line. rachel getting married was okay, i thought. anne hathaway was great but i don't know, the movie didn't really grab me. we have gran torino to watch tonight so i'm excited for that!
